"The percentage of self-identified Christians has fallen 10 points in the past two decades. How that statistic explains who we are nowand what, as a nation, we are about to become."
(Excerpt) Read more at newsweek.com ...
(Read the story for more info) This is obviously in response to the evil dictator, Barack's proclamation that we are not a Christian country.
Of all the stupid times to push the idea that God is dead, Easter has to be the stupidest.
A story worth noting (before Newsweek fails miserably and has to be rescued by Obama and becomes a propaganda rag for the leftists... Oh yeah. They already are that).
“Easter has to be the stupidest.”
They ALWAYS push this kind of junk around Easter.
Ummm..., not in terms of a P.R. person trying to ride a “hot-button-issue” and boost circulation... :-)
“Of all the stupid times to push the idea that God is dead, Easter has to be the stupidest.”
Yeah... how ‘bout this story.

The liberal atheists are firing on all cylinders this year.
Perhaps the wealth and affluence of America has made religion and Christianity less of an influence than it might have been 40 or 50 years ago.
But that situation is changing pretty quickly.
Actually the fact that Newsweek is trumpeting this is a sign that interest in Christianity is about to turn around in a hurry.
Hat tip to GG on this one!
This is when the media always do it. "
Wait until they see what they get if that becomes as true as they predict.
Personally I think that the number should drop about 50%, because anyone who votes for an abortion and gay marriage loving politician is no Christian!
Christianity isn’t a popularity contest anyway. It’s about Truth.
“Actually the fact that Newsweek is trumpeting this is a sign that interest in Christianity is about to turn around in a hurry.”
That and the fact that oppression always brings out the best in the faithful. I think we’re about to get a big fat fistful of that... Paul made the best of it. Reckon we better be prepared to do the same.
Well, it’s still a worthwhile story to read. The beginning of it starts off as follows...

It was a small detail, a point of comparison buried in the fifth paragraph on the 17th page of a 24-page summary of the 2009 American Religious Identification Survey. But as R. Albert Mohler Jr.president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, one of the largest on earthread over the document after its release in March, he was struck by a single sentence. For a believer like Mohlera starched, unflinchingly conservative Christian, steeped in the theology of his particular province of the faith, devoted to producing ministers who will preach the inerrancy of the Bible and the Gospel of Jesus Christ as the only means to eternal lifethe central news of the survey was troubling enough: the number of Americans who claim no religious affiliation has nearly doubled since 1990, rising from 8 to 15 percent. Then came the point he could not get out of his mind: while the unaffiliated have historically been concentrated in the Pacific Northwest, the report said, “this pattern has now changed, and the Northeast emerged in 2008 as the new stronghold of the religiously unidentified.” As Mohler saw it, the historic foundation of America’s religious culture was cracking.
“That really hit me hard,” he told me last week. “The Northwest was never as religious, never as congregationalized, as the Northeast, which was the foundation, the home base, of American religion. To lose New England struck me as momentous.” Turning the report over in his mind, Mohler posted a despairing online column on the eve of Holy Week lamenting the declineand, by implication, the imminent fallof an America shaped and suffused by Christianity. “A remarkable culture-shift has taken place around us,” Mohler wrote. “The most basic contours of American culture have been radically altered. The so-called Judeo-Christian consensus of the last millennium has given way to a post-modern, post-Christian, post-Western cultural crisis which threatens the very heart of our culture.” When Mohler and I spoke in the days after he wrote this, he had grown even gloomier. “Clearly, there is a new narrative, a post-Christian narrative, that is animating large portions of this society,” he said from his office on campus in Louisville, Ky.

We are in a post-modern, post-Christian world... and that does seem to be in line with what the Bible says is going to be happening, close to the time when Jesus Christ returns to set up His Kingdom over the earth and rule the nations of the world from Israel...
This was a good line from the article
“Let’s be clear: while the percentage of Christians may be shrinking, rumors of the death of Christianity are greatly exaggerated.”
Thought you might want to ping your Evo-atheist pals to celebrate.
“Christianity isnt a popularity contest anyway. Its about Truth.”
Nothing in your post innacurate. Christians are known by the fruit they bear and who they support is no exception. The Word says that “Bad company corrupts good character” and that is proven out nearly every time it’s tried.
“We are in a post-modern, post-Christian world... and that does seem to be in line with what the Bible says is going to be happening, close to the time when Jesus Christ returns to set up His Kingdom over the earth and rule the nations of the world from Israel...”
We’re movin’ on up to the edge of the last days. Let’s just pray we can get as many over to the right side before the scale tips.
The article was written by an Episcopalian. He should know all about dying churches!
God:
The decline and Fall of sNoozweek!
“Thought you might want to ping your Evo-atheist pals to celebrate.’
In a party like this, the more the merrier!
“It’s the end of the world as we know it,
And I feel fine”
Let’s not forget,
“The truth gets blurred like a wet letter,
But since I gave up hope I feel a lot better!”
Newsweek is on its last legs. Probably will go on line only soon.
May I suggest looking at the advertisers to send your complaints.
Steve Taylor! LOL
But sNoozweak won't be rising on the third day (or month, or year...)
LOL, it has nothing to do with God being dead. Did you read the article?
Evil Dictator is Right! As each day passes, I get more sick at the idea that perhaps O is a disciple of satan, preparing the globe for the “coming” of the evil one!
It seems to be an annual event, doesn’t it? They want to spoil our Easter joy!
At the Lamb’s high feast we sing
praise to our victorious King,
who hath washed us in the tide
flowing from his pierced side;
praise we him, whose love divine
gives his sacred Blood for wine,
gives his Body for the feast,
Christ the victim, Christ the priest.
Where the Paschal blood is poured,
death’s dark angel sheathes his sword;
Israel’s hosts triumphant go
through the wave that drowns the foe.
Praise we Christ, whose blood was shed,
Paschal victim, Paschal bread;
with sincerity and love
eat we manna from above.
Mighty Victim from the sky,
Hells fierce powers beneath Thee lie;
Thou hast conquered in the fight,
Thou hast brought us life and light;
Now no more can death appall,
Now no more the grave enthrall;
Thou hast opened Paradise,
And in Thee Thy saints shall rise.
Paschal triumph, Easter joy,
Only sin can this destroy;
From sins death do Thou set free
Souls reborn, O Lord, in Thee.
Hymns of glory and of praise,
Father, to Thee we raise;
Risen Lord, all praise to Thee,
Ever with the Spirit be.
“Steve Taylor! LOL”
Glad you got it... awesome writer.
My favorite is:
“Life unwinds like cheap sweater,
Since I gave up hope I feel alot better...”
That guy is cool.
Ever listen to his song, “Life Boat”?
Laughing just thinking about it :o)
Well, God also says that there is going to be a decline and fall of the faith, too — the great apostasy...
Very well put! And how many times is it repeated in the Bible to stand and not waver....for we will be tested over and over again.
God is the best thing in my life.....PROUD TO BE A CHRISTIAN!
Amen brother!
Elijah once said he was the only one left, but God said that He has His remnant of followers. There always is a Remnant and that is always enough to bring about a revival.
"As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God" Romans 14:11
Amen!
Oh, well, I’m content to wait and see. If it’s a race between church attendance and Newsweak subscriptions I think I know which way to bet.
“We’re going to decide which lives are worth living... and which lives are worth... ahem... not living”
It’s on the same album with “Cash Cow” I think... good stuff.
Speaking of the remnant...you absolutely MUST read the following!
http://www.aapsonline.org/brochures/isaiah.htm
I guess that sNoozweak is just trying to help it along??
“Elijah once said he was the only one left, but God said that He has His remnant of followers. There always is a Remnant and that is always enough to bring about a revival.’
Absolutely. But revival or not, we need to be ready to live like we are the only ones who love God. I feel like we will be more isolated as this all progresses. We’ve got to live like we’re on fire (while we try to avoid being burned at the stake!)
Not again!
“Not again!”
Yeah... and I didn’t even know He was sick!
You said — I guess that sNoozweak is just trying to help it along??

Well, if anything, Newsweek would only be helping *clear out the deadwood* from Christianity and nothing more than that...
I mean, a magazine article (or two or three...) can’t change a person’s “new spirit” in a Christian, put there by God, Himself. How can an article undo what God has done? It can’t happen.
But, what can happen, are those who do not have the new spirit placed there by God, can feel free to abandon “Christianity” which they were never a part of in the first place (hence the “dead wood”...).
God predicts hte end of newsweek- I wonder which prediction will come true first?
“But, what can happen, are those who do not have the new spirit placed there by God, can feel free to abandon Christianity which they were never a part of in the first place (hence the dead wood...).”
How dare you say some folks who claim to be Christians are not what they claim!
How dare you speak the truth!!! Don’t you know you’re in danger of being charged with a hate-thought-crime???
Heh, heh...
We’re really getting to be the “remnant”... :-)
I did! It’s thought provoking.brings to mind the thought that one person plants, another waters and another reaps. That modern prophet never sees the Remnant so well but the Remnant gets the benefit of his work.
Nietzsche tried to declare God is dead too, then he died.
Hey now, we’re all in it together right to the happy
(not bitter) end.
