(04-06) 21:03 PDT Tracy -- Police in Tracy announced tonight that they found the remains of a child who went missing 10 days ago inside a black suitcase that was discovered earlier today floating in an irrigation pond.

Sandra Cantu vanished March 27 after telling her mother she was going to a friend's home to play.

The suitcase was found by farm workers at about 10 a.m. as they were draining the pond at a dairy farm on Bacchetti Road in Tracy. The location is about two miles from Cantu's home.

Witnesses told investigators the suitcase was not there when they drained the same pond about two weeks ago.

Cantu disappeared from the Orchard Estates Mobile Home Park 10 days prior. The last official sighting of her was on a surveillance video taped that afternoon, showing her skipping outside her home.

"One of the other men queried is a 60-year-old man who admitted he kissed Sandra on the lips two years ago. He told police he was just being friendly and that he had nothing to do with her disappearance."

What 60-year-old man kisses a seven-year-old little girl on the LIPS?

"Sandra disappeared from the Orchard Estates Mobile Home Park in Tracy on March 27 after telling her mother she was going to a friend's home to play. The last official sighting of her was on a surveillance video taped that afternoon, showing her skipping outside her home."

There is no reason on earth this should have happened.

“What 60-year-old man kisses a seven-year-old little girl on the LIPS?”

Either a seriously demented man, as in he has senile dementia, or a pervert.

Fathers, grandpas and uncles excepted. But this 60 year old was just a neighbor. Obviously there is a problem there.

But I have to believe she had been warned away from that guy. So I don’t think she would have gone anywhere with him.

You said — Don’t waste time lecturing those who don’t need it.

I have no idea who really “needs” what, when I post. I’m just commenting on stuff. The reader will have to determine what they need and don’t need. I usually figure “if the shoe fits, wear it; if not, don’t wear it...” That takes care of it fairly simply...

===== ===== ===== ===== ===== ===== ===== ===== ===== =====

And then you said — If it didn’t take 20 years to execute someone, you’d see far fewer of these comments.

From my perspective, whether it takes 20 days or 20 years to execute a guilty party, I would venture to say that people are going to be *just as upset* about a killing like this. I don’t think that they’re going to be less upset about this sort of killing of a little girl, simply on the basis that you can “churn out” the executions faster. That won’t make it any better, at all, for the little girl or the family or the public.

In the end, if the guilty party is convicted and it does take years to bring to the point of an execution, justice is being done, in any case and being done “finally”.

One could compare this to the same thing that God does, when He considers “human beings”. God says, that “right off the bat” that human beings have the *death sentence* on them and they *all deserve to die* — as all human beings are *guilty*. BUT, in spite of that *death sentence* for all human beings and the fact that all human beings are *deserving of the death sentence* — God allows “time” and “grace” for people to repent of their sins and to ask for forgiveness. God may give people a 70-year reprieve from their *death sentence* (and that *death sentence* is *well-deserved* for all people, no matter who they are).

Thus, if God gives a several year “reprieve” from your death sentence and my death sentence — then I shouldn’t think it’s too much of a problem that the guilty party (of such a crime as stated above) is finally executed after some years. It’s being *done* and *completed* in any case.

Yes, if justice was swifter (a death penalty offense shouldn’t take more than a year for a jury trial, appeal to the governor and all) then we wouldn’t be calling for a vigilante torture fest. When we are denied reasonable justice, we get unreasonable. Justice is absolutely necessary for a civilized society.

I’d like to see a fair trial with a jury of 12 decent citizens, properly conducted. Then I’d like to see the accused, if found guilty, swiftly killed. They can appeal to the governor if they think they have some grounds for appeal. That’s it.

I along with everyone else here had so hoped and prayed this would not end like this.

Sad day.

I suppose you are one of those that gets all worked up when you hear about some child molestor that gets let out with a ankle bracelet, cuts it off and then molests some other kid too. Me too :(

Yeah, the ankle bracelets aren’t cutting it.

You can still molest a kid if you are wearing an ankle bracelet.

You can’t molest anyone if you are dead.

Cutting a monitor will be noticed by the monitoring station.

Great. Now the monitoring station knows the guy is on the run.

There was a ankle bracelet molester up here in Seattle that cut it off. A few days later molested/killed? a little girl and then was easily caught. (It almost seemed liked he wanted to get caught?). There was another story about a homeless molester with a bracelet that they couldn’t track. I never did figure out if it was the same guy.

Its one thing to put a ankle bracelet on someone so they don’t drink and drive depending on the situation. My sister (RIP) for example. Law abiding citizen until it came to her drinking problem and driving. Although her parole bracelet was still too lenient for her IMHO, it did keep her from drinking and driving.

Quite the other for some guy who the state has labelled as a Level III (Highly likely to reoffend) but they let him out anyway.

Why go hi tech? Tie him up and stake him on a fire ant mound. The ants will even do a lot of the cleaning. :0)

It will be interesting to see the rap sheet on this animal if they ever catch him. If he’s from SF it is likely he’s been let off the hook more times than I can count.

And people want to get rid of the death penalty.

Why is any rapist, child or otherwise, ever let to see the light of day again?

Someone will order the prison guards to give him a warm bed, free ciggies, and extra escorts.

Anyone who finds the pr*** should kill it on the spot.
