Yep. The person watching her dropped his guard and took a shower. She immediately went to the enclosed garage and started the car.

Well, you should’ve been born right handed. Who’s fault is that? HAHAHA. Just a joke. My dad is a leftie and I mess with him about that all the time.

“I figured this was so over the top that nobody could possibly misunderstand it as anything but sarcasm. I guess I was wrong.”

I got fooled on a lot of the April Fools posts because they fit right in with the way things are going. But, I didn’t get fooled on that one that said Obama gave the Queen Of England an IPOD as a gift- that was too outrageous!! /s

By the way, in my neck of the woods they were trying to shut down shooting ranges because of enviromental lead poisoning. They already have the ban on the lead shot near waterfowl, and are now trying to ban lead shot and bullets everywhere due to the environmental concerns! /no s

could have been that were over the top, but that I I

Can’t get a gun legally if you’re mentally ill.

However, anyone can get a gun at a range... all you need is a driver’s license.

I’m right handed and the outdoor range we frequent is a little cramped.

The brass comes from the shooter on my left.

"...I always thought they were so safe except for getting nailed once in a while by flying brass..."

Hot brass is a pet peeve. It always seems to get stuck somewhere in my shirt rather than just falling out. also, as a lefty, I have a problem with it sometimes hitting me in the face. Last time I fired a bullpup-style weapon the brass nailed me in the face, splitting my lip!

Every indoor range that I've been to has had at least one suicide. One suicide I missed by only an hour or so after the meatwagon had left. They turned me away as the crime scene investigators were leaving and cleanup crew was walking in.

Any range that rents firearms to unaccompanied people and those who don't bring a firearm of their own are foolish. Many ranges that have had a suicide adopt these policies, but some of them don't. Even one or two gun stores/sporting good stores I know of have had people walk in with a bullet in their pocket asking to handle a firearm chambered in that round and have had to wrestle the gun away before the idiot could load it. One lady grabbed the gun and ran out the door trying to load her bullet in the chamber and got beaten up pretty good for her efforts.

Of the estimated 30,000 firearms deaths per year in the USA, almost two thirds of them are suicides. Take those away and there are less than 10,000 gun deaths per year in the USA, and most of those people probably had it coming.

I also don't understand why liberals are against suicide by firearm: They're all in favor of assisted suicide, aren't they? Why blame their deaths as 'handgun violence'?

Personally, I take exception to suicidal nitwits using a firearm to kill themselves: Just makes the 2nd Amendment look bad even to those who would give Dr. Kevorkian a big fat hug.

Anyone wanting to end their lives should look into walking way out into the forest or the desert and drinking an entire jug of Prestone® antifreeze. Has a nice sugary taste, gets you pretty drunk, then you fall asleep and your internal organs fail. Very peaceful way to go. Stop horrifying innocent people at gun ranges, you unstable wackos.

"... I get too creeped out at ranges anymore and will avoid places where the range rents guns."

I don't shoot anyplace that rents guns, and don't shoot at indoor ranges in general anymore. Far too many neophytes sweeping guns around not to mention the potential for a screwbat looking to come in and off himself with a rented gun. Plus, I usually loathe the sort of idiots who work behind the counter at indoor gun ranges. Last thing I need is to have to listen to some 19 year old gun store counter commando talking about the time he trained with SEALs/Delta Force/MACV-SOG/Chuck Norris/Marine Recon/SAS...

We need to repeal all anti-discrimination laws that prevent private business people from turning away customers they aren’t comfortable with. If this lady had no involuntary commitment history or felony history that the range operator could access, he could could get sued and lose big for turning her away from a range generally open to the public, no matter how odd and worisome her behavior was. Then start working on the laws re public institutions — the ones that prevented Virginia Tech from expelling their mass murderer when they could see he was mentally unstable.

What’s a “legitimate” gun owner? If this woman had no history of involuntary commitment for mental illness, and no felony convictions, there was nothing stopping her from going out and buying a gun with the full endorsement of federal and state government. In shall-issue states, she couldn’t have been turned down for a carry permit either.

Can’t get a gun legally if you’re mentally ill.

Huh? Where'd you hear that? Unless your mental illness has involved a reportable event, such as involuntary commitment or an adjudication of mental incompetence, there's no record of it, and you can still get a gun legally. There are various legislative proposals all the time to change that, and perhaps a few states have succeeded in imposing a few more restrictions than federal law, but generally speaking "mental illness" is no barrier to buying a gun.

Maybe I should have used the word responsible instead.

Someone who fervently believes in 2A and takes gun safety just as seriously.

Someone who practices regularly.

I just can’t picture a strong 2A supporter who practices regularly doing such a thing at the shooting range.

If they are responsible, and take gun safety seriously, they would never jeopardize the safety and rights of others by doing such a thing.

Jackson Arms, of South San Francisco, CA had a rule stating a person who wishes to utilize their indoor range must bring a friend. No one is allowed to rent a lane by themselves. This was in response to a suicide there.

A comment on his page from one of his friends indicates that everything was going well in his life until his “crazy” mother killed him.

His comments and those of his girlfriend seem happy, and she mentioned looking forward to a cruise they were taking in the near future.

So sad.
