German police charged Thursday that the grisly death of a 20-year-old ethnic Kurdish woman had been an 'honour killing,' and that her brother had confessed to the crime.
Germans have been outraged at a recent series of execution-style honour killings of young women by immigrant families.
Police said the family had attempted to force Gulsum into a planned marriage and then discovered she was not a virgin and had undergone one or more abortions.
Gulsum had left home last year with the help of welfare officials and moved to a safe house, but then returned home to Rees.
Honour killings occur in conservative central Asian societies which view female premarital sex as a stain on their reputation.
In a similar case, a 24-year-old ethnic Tajik youth from Afghanistan was convicted in February of stabbing to death his schoolgirl sister, Morsal O, aged 16, in Hamburg last year.

I remember about a Kurdish girl being stoned to death (a very young girl, maybe 15 or 16 or so) because she dated a young Muslim boy.... The pictures of her head getting smashed and blood running from her head was on the Internet, a bunch of Kurds taking pictures of her with their cel phones... ugghhh... a bad sight...
So, it would appear that Kurds don’t like the Muslims that well, but they seem to like the practice of honor killings, even if they aren’t Muslim...

I can understand that for the Muslim community, but what about the “Kurds” — since they aren’t Muslim? Is the same thing happening with the Kurds, even though they aren’t Muslim?
They have a very strange concept of love by our standards, it will allow a young man to kill his mother, or a sister, if they “shame” the reputation of the family.

Exactly. True honor comes from the righteous defence of your family, friends or country... not from the cold-blooded murder of one of your own family members. One of your own FEMALE family members. It’s always females murdered and always males doing the murdering in these “honor killings”.
There’s no “honor” in the stronger brother murdering his weaker sister.
These people are suffering from a mental disease that acts as if it were demon possession. I’m not religious and I don’t believe in demons but what I’m saying is that their behavior is AS IF they were possessed by demons.

Conservative is a relative term. It all depends on what one is trying to conserve.

The following is what I would refer to, and it’s exactly those people who did the “honor killing” that I referred to — of the young girl going out with that young Muslim boy. She was killed for going out with that Muslim boy, and also wanting to get married to him.

the largest community outside Near Asia is here in Nashville...so far no honour killings but plenty of gang activity
some of the Kurd kids cliqued up in rough public schools fro self preservation but I think it goes beyond that

I think most people are misunderstanding the Kurds, actually, in terms of being Muslim, but not in terms of their “cultural” actions, which do include the honor killings, to be sure...

Oh..., and a note here on the Kurds in Iraq. They’ve been our greatest supporters in Iraq. They really like having us over there and they’ve never been a problem. Saddam Hussein really oppressed them, and they were glad when we got rid of him.
Kurds hate Arabs, but most Kurds are Muslims.
