Obama to Call For Nuclear - Free World

PRAGUE (Reuters) - President Barack Obama will call for the elimination of all nuclear weapons across the globe, in remarks on Sunday he hopes will lend credibility to his message in atomic disputes with Iran and North Korea.
Visiting Prague during an eight-day visit to Europe, Obama plans to deliver what his aides have billed as a major speech on weapons proliferation.
Obama, who is making his debut on the world stage, said in Strasbourg, France on Friday that he would lay out an agenda to secure the world's loose nuclear materials and halt the spread of illicit weapons.
He added that he wanted to offer an agenda "to seek the goal of a world without nuclear weapons."
"Even with the Cold War over, the spread of nuclear weapons or the theft of nuclear material could lead to the extermination of any city on the planet," Obama said.
Obama, a former U.S. senator who succeeded President George W. Bush in January, has long shown interest in the issue of halting weapons proliferation and wants to make it a signature foreign policy issue for his new administration.

The rest of the world knows that we now have a weak and ineffectual President. My hearts breaks for those who trusted us to insure their freedom. My heart breaks for us, too. to be fair, reagan said the same thing. the whole point of sdi was ot render nukes obsolete. if you google his speeches reagan dreams of a world without nuclear weapons, too. now, it was more an ideal for him, but i think it’s an ideal for Obama, too. I don’t see him unilaterally disarming, although who knows?
we barely have that many nukes left as it is and even W was getting rid of them. We used to have like 27000, now he wave around 1500 I believe, and we havent tested any of them in 20 years, who knows if they even still work?
No wonder the Queen liked this guy. Royalty has always loved its jesters at court.
This is a empty gesture play to the anti-war and Code Pink crowd that voted for him in their millions. Like NARAL and GLAAD, this is one more interest group to satisfy. He is laying the groundwork for 2012.
Watch for O to push for unilateral disarmament.

The amusing thing to this entire suggestion of Obama...is that the Senate will not allow him to proceed on such an endeavor. If you remember the Kyoto Treaty...they all sat there and realized the implications (Republicans and Democrats), and then said no. Going to a no-nukes situation would gain the same issues...the Senate would not fall into place or agree with such a measure.
So Obama can talk all day about this concept...it’s worth alot for press coverage. He can smile and do various interviews. He can even use it for the 2012 election period...although I’d have doubts he’d be that stupid during an election period. But at the end of the day....its the Senate who will stop him on such a matter.
Actually Obama is not dumb, but he is a fool.
And he’s being a fool with our futures.

The American people may be fooled by this fool on the world stage. However, the leaders of the world nations are not fooled. They see him with the cold clarity of shrewd perception.
