N. Korea keeps radars off, shies away from rocket launch: officials
By Sam Kim
SEOUL, April 4 (Yonhap) -- North Korea has set up recording equipment but kept its radars switched off as it refrained Saturday from shooting its rocket on the first day of its official launch window, South Korean officials said.
North Korea said earlier in the day through its state media that it had completed its preparations to send a satellite into orbit and would go ahead with the launch "soon."
The launch, which Pyongyang professed would come between Saturday and Wednesday, did not occur, prompting neighbors to suspect windy weather conditions at the Musudan-ri launch pad on the east coast.
Ping!
When they power up again you can be sure the launch is imminent.
The weather forecast for the launch area showed poor conditions for Saturday. North Korea is 14 hours ahead of US East coast time.
The next launch window, for Sunday, opens at 9pm and closes at 2am US eastern time.
Hey, it’s North Korea! Maybe the electricity wasn’t working.
Now the funny thing is, for the next consecutive four days representing their stated launch window, there are days when it is clear but winds are the fiercest, maybe even up to 18 km/h or 25 km/h so they cannot risk launching in that weather, and then when the winds come down on other days to a reasonable level, those days become cloudy and even rainy. The bird is on the pad, fully fueled and ready to go, but the weather seems to not be cooperating. One can only hope for The Lord's intervention over the next several days, and then they will have to try to precariously unload the fuel (probably nearly impossible) or just have the thing corrode and/or blow up on the launch pad.
A guy can dream, hope and pray, can't he??!!
Is that normal Miltary behavior by NK Tiger OH Gee Louize LOLOLOL!
I doubt they’ll launch on Sunday. Just a hunch.
And it looks like my hunch was wrong. They just launched it about an hour ago.
