TIME Magazine on Tuesday cites high-ranking Israeli security officials as saying that dozens of Israeli jets and unmanned drones took part in the January strike on a Gaza-bound weapons convoy in Sudan.
According to sources cited in the TIME article, the attacks were carried out by F-16 fighters, which carried out two attack runs on the convoy. F-15 fighter planes were also positioned nearby, a precaution against the possibility of hostile fighters rushing to the area.
Once the first bombing run was completed, unmanned drones laden with cameras passed over convoy site to ensure its destruction. After the footage indicated that the party was only partially hit, a second pass was ordered.
Since, according to the source, Israel had but a few days to prepare for the strike, from the time the initial Mossad tip-off was received, naval and aerial rescue teams were speedily directed to the Red Sea, ahead of a potential rescue mission, the TIME report said.

The Muslims smell blood in the water thanks to Obama. They should know better than to corner the Jews.
Go Israel!
Blast them back to the stone age... ummm... they are already in the stone age...
BLAST THEM ANYWAY.
there went 850 million dollars up in smoke. If they were industrious people...they could load all that up..carry it to the coast and sell it for junk iron
>>>”dozens of Israeli jets and unmanned drones”
Numbers doesn’t doesn’t sound right just on its face. Even to take out the Osirak nuclear site, with the potential to encounter the entire modern Iraqi Air Force, the IAF only used 8 f16s and 2 escorting f15s. “Dozens” of attacking planes with modern munitions also shouldn’t really have needed two passes to take out 17 trucks exposed defenseless on the desert.
I’d guess two or three tankers, a command and control plane, an Israeli version AWACS, perhaps a separate controller for the drones, and half a dozen attack planes. Also perhaps a standby SAR helicopter offshore flying off a frigate or similar vessel.
World War II military adage: If it takes a platoon, send a battalion. There is no such thing as over kill as long as you can avoid fratricide.
Good news. I pray for Israel’s survival during these dark days. I don’t get how American Jews vote for the Dims.
What a barbaric country.
Here in the US, we simply teach “Non-Violent Conflict Resolution” and all problems are solved.

There’s another lesson in this for me. Because, we’re far away from the days of the Karina-A. Remember that one?
Remember, too, how the USA just blew a tip-off about a ship from Iran that was loaded with arsenal for Gaza, having Americans boarding the ship, before letting it go? The USA said they didn’t have “legal authority.”
So for Israel, it’s been a learning curve. They no longer depend on “diplomacy.” Which is a good thing. But they’re not advertising the changes, either. (Did you hear an Iranian vessel, heading to Gaza, was “somehow” blown out of the water before arriving at port in Eygpt? Perhaps, we’ve got petunias out there “searching for the oil slick?)
As to Obama? He’s gonna find the bite he gets coming off his attempts at muslim brotherhood to be worse than what just happened to Gordon Brown at the G20. Who sez diplomatic mis-steps can hurt ya? Fer sure, Obama hasn’t been dancing like Fred Astaire. Even if all he wants to do is get “all the bad news” out, first.
