I should have mentioned - the exchange is between Sen. Kent Conrad (D-ND) and Sen. Charles Grassley (R-IA). I’m not sure how Sen. Grassley meant his comment, but I know how it came out!
Hahaha!!! I love Grassley, he’s an awesome guy.
Actually the upshot of this is probably that the Dim Conrad appealed to Grassly when he was chair to not push something through and of course Grassly the weak GOP Senator was “statesman like.” I bet Conrad did not return the favor today did he?
If I am right, we have everything that is wrong with GOP Senators right in that clip.
I hate to suggest it...but if you measured both Conrad and Grassley for conservative leanings...I think Conrad might be a millimeter ahead. Grassley has said pretty dopey things over the past five years, and I have little respect for the guy.
I don't disagree that Grassley's said some regrettable things at times, and those things tend to make the news. But I know him from a little closer up, and he does have a conservative core in there, he really does.

Don’t ever be fooled by this talk of the elusive “moderate Democrats.” They don’t get the support they need to get elected if they are moderate.

Honestly, that kind of ‘bar humor’ is better NOT said in the Senate and I am embarrased it was one of our guys
The more I think about it, the more I think he actually didn't mean it that way, especially from Conrad's reaction. I'm guessing that Conrad's wife had had a recent conversation with Grassley after some event, telling him that he had done a good job or something, and Grassley was referring to that conversation. It just didn't come out quite that way.
