I was a porn star.
I was living the unglamorous life in the porn industry...

But she has her own channel on youtube and there are lengthier testimonies, too...like when she speaks at a church in Georgia.
With all the sad and bad news out there, I found this on the 'net and thought people need to be reminded: God is still real, he still can change hearts and lives, and HIS LOVE is what we need to be sharing!
Keep standing for what is right and true, fellow FREEPers! And keep caring for your fellow man! Shelley has found her the people to whom she ministers: you can find yours!
I would be more impressed if she made this turn before turning 35. I mean even if she still wanted to do porn it would have to be some kind of fetish mature stuff or something so its not like she has much of a choice.
God can change lives if you let Him.

>>Former Sex Worker Assumes the Missionary Position.
LOL — BADA-BOOM!
Do you think she’s lying about how difficult that kind of life is?
Maybe, but we should be happy that she made the turn at all, and as a 57-yr old, I must say that 35 isn't that old, either for porn or for finding God.
I didn't see in the article where it said she changed her life to impress you.
Looks like she turned around quite well and has a nice family. Must be wierd for the kids when/if someone finds out your Mom was a porn queen.
She is one of God's bright, shining trophies of His grace and mercy to a hurting, helpless human being. She will be a testimony to all of creation for all of eternity to the love of Christ and the power He has to rescue people from bondage and slavery to sin into new, changed, victorious lives!
Good one that will leave a mark
The truth will set on free
Uh?
“you” sorry
I think the point he may be making is that she shouldn’t get greater credibility than someone who didn’t screw up the first part of their life. There is something to be said for being disciplined enough to remain on the straight (sorry) and narrow for your whole life.
Glad to hear that she may have gotten herself rehabilitated as redemption’s always a good thing, but I wouldn’t give her any greater credibility (and probably less) than someone that had never been in the business. Regrettably, her previous choice of “employment” will ever cloud the perception that people have of her. Too bad, but choices have consequences, even if you reject those choices at a later date.
I think the point he was making is that she was getting too old to keep doing porn, so she just stumbled into the missionary gig for a new line of work.
"There is something to be said for being disciplined enough to remain on the straight (sorry) and narrow for your whole life."
The Prodigal Son had a brother like that, who became bitter when the wayward brother found his way home. The father told him, "Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine. It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found."
"...I wouldnt give her any greater credibility (and probably less) than someone that had never been in the business."
If her conversion is sincere, she probably could care less how much credibility you, I or anyone else gives her, and I would aver that one who has found Christ and personally been rescued from the depths by Him can probably attest to the power of His forgiveness and atonement with far more conviction than one who never had to take that walk.
A lot of girls do that stuff for free. How hard can it be?
Shelly Lubben I would sure change my name if I were her. Could Lubben possibly be her porn name. If she spent that many years as a porn star she must have spent most of her time Lubben.
Your mom is watching.........
I did not find the other poster's comment appropriate. It was, in fact, very un-Christian and less than loving toward one who had found salvation, no matter the age or circumstance.
In this economy, many women are turning to the sex trades as a way to make money - stripping, nude modeling, porn, prostitution. A lot of it happens with few headlines or notoriety too. One may have seen the Light but there are many more not taking the narrow path.
My mom passed away on nov 8 2006 from Alzheimer she was a loyal lurker here read tons of stuff I put that as my tag line that day in hopes she could still see it I miss her
My pop passed away in 1988....and I think of him everyday.
He was a good man...
And a good person too. I'm sure your mother was also.............
still attempting to benefit from or use it.
Well at least she did not have to see obama get elected

Televangelist Melissa Scott, Gene Scott's wife, was better known back in the 90's as porn actress Barbie Bridges...
Her porn name was Roxy something but thats not important right now
Hey, now...that is good.
I’m thinking a modern day Mary Magdalene.
We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. That is before we are even born.
The very nature of man is why God sent his son to die on the cross that our sins might be forgiven.
No one has led an upright life in their entirety, except through a humanistic and subjective lens.
This woman’s story demonstrates hope to those in despair and hopelessness.
There is a path that leads to greater peace and eternal life.
If Jesus can mingle, eat and drink all people, who are we to arrogantly judge? of lest we be judged.
I am happy for this woman, her peace and salvation.
I welcome her as friend and sister.
“If her conversion is sincere, she probably could care less how much credibility you, I or anyone else gives her...”
The uncertainty about her conversion is all bound up with the first word in your sentence, “If”. Whether she is truly redeemed, or not, is between her and God. Until she passes, she’ll have to live in this world, and since she publicly holds out the first part of her life as a counterweight to what she says she is now, this world will judge her in part, on that part of her life.
Are we being judgmental? Of course we are. We judge every day, and we’d be fools if we didn’t. I hope her conversion sticks, but there will always be that question, amongst us mortals, as to whether the demons that vexed her early life are simply better dressed now. There are all too many well dressed hypocrites, and lacking the total omniscience of God, we mortals are wise to rely on a persons current, and previous actions, in determining their credibility. What we (as Christians) wish a person to be, vs. what the person actually is, are often two very different things and we shouldn’t be a religious Pollyanna about anyone (especially someone with a troubled past that they used their own free will in entering).
It sounds like the moral discipline she’s taken on can be a blessing for her. Glad she’s started on the proper path, but moral neophytes do not yet have the experience to take on the role of a teacher, which she seems to be attempting by her proselytizing.
My rabbi dealt with people who might look down on her:
Now one of the Pharisees invited Jesus to have dinner with him, so he went to the Pharisee's house and reclined at the table. When a woman who had lived a sinful life in that town learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee's house, she brought an alabaster jar of perfume, and as she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them.
When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, "If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she isthat she is a sinner."
Jesus answered him, "Simon, I have something to tell you."
"Tell me, teacher," he said.
"Two men owed money to a certain moneylender. One owed him five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. Neither of them had the money to pay him back, so he canceled the debts of both. Now which of them will love him more?"
Simon replied, "I suppose the one who had the bigger debt canceled."
"You have judged correctly," Jesus said.
Then he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, "Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet. You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgivenfor she loved much. But he who has been forgiven little loves little."
Then Jesus said to her, "Your sins are forgiven." 49The other guests began to say among themselves, "Who is this who even forgives sins?" 50Jesus said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you; go in peace."
Do you think she knows what she is talking about I think she is a fraud imho she is screwing her flock out of money
From your lips to God's ears. You certainly have a firm grasp on our Father's grace, love, and mercy for us all.
He alone has the power to take the weakest among us and make us the strongest. Many people forget that some of the most powerful examples in the Bible are where God took somoene who was the weakest or meekest of all, and made them powerful in His name.
Last I checked, it was David that slew Goliath. :-)
Why in the world would you be thinking that?
For some, the fall is long and hard to become truly broken so that there is nowhere else to look but to our Father in heaven for rescue.
The day we realize just how much we need our Father in Heaven's love, grace and mercy is a turning point in our lives.
Those who've never been broken as this woman was may never truly understand or appreciate where she is today spiritually, or how she got there. It's one of those situations that unless one's walked in her shoes (so to speak) they just can't understand it or are skeptical of her.
That's not a knock on them or their faith, it's just that they've been fortunate enough to never be in a situation where God's allowed them to be fully broken before they could find Him.
from the traditional beliefs about MM, that is all. :)
God can change lives, and doesn’t require our permission.
Sadly true, but nevertheless let us rejoice in the one.
“Televangelist Melissa Scott, Gene Scott’s wife, was better known back in the 90’s as porn actress Barbie Bridges...”
Hmm. What, besides the fall from grace, seems to pre-qualify porn stars for the ministry? There seems to be a pattern emerging here. I did not know about Melissa Scott, but I do know that there are more than a few folks that were in the porn industry that seem to be involved in the evangelical movement (more power to ‘em), but still.
Consider the similarities between those that feel compelled to “hold forth” in public, and those that physically “let it all hang out” in public. I would suppose that someone that has enough porn films to their credit, would be a good deal less self conscious in front of folks. As one who used to make a living speaking to large groups, I’m wondering whether these porn stars may have already gotten over most of their stage fright. I’m not sure I’d recommend it for warming up for the lecture circuit though.
Now I’m starting to worry, maybe there more similarities between these porn folks and others that get up and do things in front of public like, professors, actors, ministers etc. We may be kindred spirits, but I imagine it would be pretty difficult for me to make a living in that particular industry. I’d starve!
Not the way they have to do it.
