Westboro Baptist Church thanks God for North Dakota’s flooding
Grand Forks Herald ^ | March 25 2009 | Ryan Johnson

Posted on 03/26/2009 8:57:53 AM PDT by george76

The Westboro Baptist Church, whose members tour the country protesting at military funerals because they claim America is tolerant of homosexuality, is thanking God for record flooding in North Dakota.

“God sent the flood waters to cover the evil people of Bismarck and Fargo, ND, where you flipped off God and raised your hands against His anointed by criminalizing WBC’s gospel preaching against” gays and their supporters, declared a statement released Wednesday by the church, which is in Topeka, Kan.

The statement referred to House Bill 1040, a North Dakota state law passed in January 2007 that bars protestors from getting within 300 feet of a funeral. That law was aimed at the Westboro Baptists and its members, who protest because they believe soldiers’ deaths are God’s punishment for America’s support of gays.

These folks are to Christianity what Michael Savage is to conservatism — the human embodiment of a ridiculous liberal caricature. They do far more harm than good.

You know, I have never seen such hatred as shown by this bunch, they are no Christians, not according to the Bible that’s for sure. Their judgement is certain but what steams me is their unGodly perversion, their pride and arrogance to what Christ stands for and is all about. You would think that they would cringe at such behavior but I guess not.

I’m Baptist and all we are able to do when we hear about these people is slowly shake our heads, there are no words for it, our pastor finds himself is literally speechless about these people and once he said it’s probably for the better!

Your pastor understands that there's no need to say anything. God will deal with them in his own way. Personally I suspect they live some incredibly loney lives. Almost a purgatory on earth.

I deplore violence. Vigilantism leaves me cold. I believe vengeance is childish. I typically don’t even approve of bellicose manners when no blows are involved.

However, I’d be willing to dispense with all of that if a mob were to lynch the entire Westboro gang.

The licentiousness of the US isn’t anywhere close to the Sodom of old. That level of wickedness and dearth of faithfulness is unlikely to reappear until the Spirit is removed.

Why isn’t Fred’s gang busting their butt to be a Cassandra to places like Brazil? Their president came out and said that if you think homosexuality is wrong you have to be a nut.

"Savage says nothing of value that you couldn’t hear from Limbaugh, Levin, Beck or Hannity"

Au contraire my friend...Savage was the only one of the Conservative hosts to mention something about the cockroach Mixon's killing of the 4 policemen. Savage expresses the rage that many people feel towards the absolute PERVERSION of all that's good in our society. That in itself is not sufficient to label Savage as a "total nut job" on all topics.

*****

Are you sure?? Was the Holy Spirit removed from the earth before Sodom was destroyed? We are frogs in pots...it is a slow boil...I don't think we know how far in to things we are.

One thing mankind has never seen...we can all guess but the biggest indication of where we are is the destruction of Damascus. We haven't seen that YET. Lots of other signs of labor and intensity of the pangs we were warned about but we have yet to see Damascus annihilated

>> Au contraire my friend...Savage was the only one of the Conservative hosts to mention something about the cockroach Mixon’s killing of the 4 policemen.

Hardly groundbreaking commentary. That is simply choice of which stories to cover. I doubt that Limbaugh, Levin, Beck or Hannity would disagree at all with Savage’s position (unless Savage went off on one of his tirades and fell off his rocker again).

>> Savage expresses the rage that many people feel towards the absolute PERVERSION of all that’s good in our society.

Limbaugh, Levin, Beck and Hannity express similar sentiments.

>> That in itself is not sufficient to label Savage as a “total nut job” on all topics.

I didn’t call him a “total nut-job”, though I wouldn’t necessarily dispute the label. He’s right on many issues. He’s also an angry, obnoxious, narcissistic, raving buffoon. Opinions aside, his personality is the model of a caricature of conservative radio hosts — and he turns off far more than he converts.

Given his Berkely granola-crunching background, I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if he was a liberal ex-hippie pretending to be an angry conservative as a parody.

We see a large community participate in a gang homosexual rape on a guest of the household of the only person who cares, that person then leaves and fire devours the community. Then I’d believe that scenario.

Jesus definitely did send the Holy Spirit. He promised. God never backs out on a promise. It goes away, many believe, at the catching up (aka rapture) of the church into heaven.

The Mixon killings were local for Savage (Oakland) and not for the others, at least three of whom (Limbaugh, Levin, and Hannity) are based on the East Coast. (I don't know where Glenn Beck is based).

Who is funding them ... ?

One major source is from their in-house law firm.

I have this from wikipedia at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westboro_Baptist_Church#Phelps_Chartered_law_firm

Phelps Chartered law firm
All the principals of the Phelps Chartered law firm,[6] a firm founded by WBC founder Fred Phelps, are members of WBC. Phelps Chartered handles most of WBC’s legal work and has received significant awards of attorney’s fees from the Civil Rights Attorney’s Fees Award Act of 1976 when WBC had been improperly prevented from picketing.[7]

More from the post 25 referenced website.

"In the autumn of 2007 the father of a fallen Marine whose funeral was picketed by the WBC was awarded $5 million in damages by a jury.[13][14]"

"One of Westboro's followers estimated that the church spends $250,000 a year traveling around the world to picket.[15] In the 1990s the church won a series of lawsuits against the City of Topeka and Shawnee County for efforts taken to prevent or hinder WBC picketing. As a result, the church was awarded approximately $200,000 in attorney's fees and costs associated with the litigation. Otherwise, all of the church's money comes from the combined income of its congregants and money won in lawsuits against their opponents."

Awww but the Holy Spirit was present from the beginning and was part of creating Christ. Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to his people to teach and comfort. The relationship changed.

Amazing to me to watch people know that things are not right, yet feel they are exempt from the false doctrine that we were told would abound in the last days. Doctrine so close to truth that if it were possible even the very elect of God would be deceived. MANY who would come saying that Jesus is the Christ but in their ways deny him.
MANY who will prophecy and do wonders yet be called by Christ workers of iniquity.

We were told to look at fruit...there is a building called a church on just about every street corner in this country, probably more than any other nation and what is the fruit of that? Rotten? A nation in such moral decay that God has been pretty much kicked out of it.

Is it the Holy Spirit who is doing the teaching? Or are we looking at the kingdoms of men that Satan offered to give Christ in the wilderness and Christ refused them.

Religion is a powerful wicked thing that seeks to control...there is no good religion...that is like saying bad sin..good sin...doesn’t fit. Christ did NOT teach religion he taught Faith, Hope and Love. WE will fight to hold true to those 3 things....and it will get HARD!! Just look around you. Christ even questioned if he would find Faith when he returned. How much Hope are you seeing? How much Love? Will people die for their neighbor? or condemn them?

Those are my thoughts...right or wrong, it is my place to work out my own salvation with fear and trembling and seek truth with as much or more passion as I would seek the riches of this world....because it is TRUTH that makes men FREE!!

It works like this. Christians by being present in the world work a good spiritual influence on the world. But this is only possible because the Holy Spirit comes to them first.

Of course, no one would expect a member of the Trinity to literally disappear.

The land is, of course, a patchwork of rot and salt. This surprises the Lord not at all. He planned it to be that way.

The word “religion” does actually appear in the Bible. It’s in James.

I think kind sir...it will go as Daniel tells us....we will understand more completely as time progresses. Daniel had LOTS of questions but was told that certain things were sealed until the end...Daniel could have no way of understanding them. Daniel was not HiTech...lol...I think that plays a big part in it. :)
