House Republicans have begun unveiling detailed alternatives to President Barack Obamas policies a concerted effort to push back against Democratic efforts to label them the Party of No.
On Wednesday, it was a housing plan. Thursday, it will be a big, TV-friendly stack of budget blueprints, The Republican Road to Recovery. Thats to match the presidents own platitudinous budget title, A New Era of Responsibility.
The House Republicans budget document, provided to POLITICO ahead of its release, makes sure no one can miss the point: Each chapter begins The Republican Plan, and each section is divided into The Presidents Budget and Republicans Solution.
House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.) said the housing proposal that he rolled out with eight other House Republicans on Tuesday was in response to the administration and the president himself, who continues to say that Republicans dont have any ideas.
Were here today to say yes we do, Cantor said. This is one in a series. It will not be the last. We are committed to trying to pull the agenda back to the mainstream and to respond to the problems facing Americas families today.
The documents and the showmanship in releasing them are the result of frustration by GOP leaders who repeatedly hear on TV that they have no alternatives.
In fact, they had their own plans. They just didnt get much attention, partly because Republicans sometimes disagreed about them among themselves.
So the entire House GOP elected leadership will join Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), the ranking member of the Budget Committee, for Thursdays event. Its the old I want to see it in writing, said a top House Republican official. Theyre going to see it in writing.

They took of their gloves so they could put on their mittens.
Take the Democrats own words and stuff them down their throats and get a CONTRACT with AMERICA again!
They can take them to the TV station but they can’t make it show them.
Have to admit, it would be a first.
The House Republicans might be up for it. There are a few young lions there who seem to have some gumption. The rest of the party needs to get its testosterone level checked. Wouldn’t it be nice if there was an American equivalent of Daniel Hannan?
Push back is a relative term for The Republicans.
My thoughts exactly!
Yes, hundreds would be preferred.
What will happen is the bill will pass and things will get worse. The Senate voted 99-0 for SOX. They are idiots and cowards and they hold our wallets for us.
If this Obama adm and the dems don't teach repubs elections have DIRE consequences when they allow RINO's to control the party, NOTHING will!
Supposedly, Specter has expressed opposition to Zer0’s budget.

GOP Suppository to increase intelligence
“”GOP gloves off for budget brawl””
Won’t they mess up their nails?
Democrats: “No way. That is too much. We won't stand for that. The American taxpayer put us in office to take care of them, and that's just what we'll do. We DEMAND that you cut this back to 1.8 trillion.”
Every headline in the country: “Democrats stand up for American Taxpayer.” “Resistance in the Ranks” “Obama faces tough challenge.”
Republicans: “We're taking off the gloves. We are just saying, ‘No!’ We DEMAND that cut this back to 1.5 trillion.”
Every headline in the country: “Republicans demand to cut spending on the elderly and poor.” “Republicans playing party politics again.”
Far from distancing themselves, they should embrace this title and keep pushing back.
Yawn.
The republicans enjoy being the minority party. It is what they are good at.
