The Obama administration has picked Boston physician David Blumenthal as national coordinator for health information technology at the Department of Health and Human Services, making him a critical part of the effort to overhaul the U.S. health-care system. In the short term, Blumenthal will oversee distribution of about $19 billion of stimulus act funds for getting doctors and hospitals to computerize their records.

I’ll bet the hackers are already “gearing up” for this too! They’re going to love it.
And why might the government be interested in collecting all of our medical records into a single database? I suppose one could convince oneself it is for the benefit of the people, to make it easy to locate the old, infirm and feeble minded among us such that they may be helped. Many Germans fell for that one, to their detriment, in the 1930’s and early 1940’s. They got helped alright.
Is this our boy? If so, he was just handed twenty billion taxpayer dollars for experimenting with his socialist heathcare information systems:

I skimmed through some of his articles. Looks like he’s been pushing this socialist healthcare information and insurance scam for years, but the healthcare community is far from convinced that it will work or is needed or even desireable:
