WASHINGTON (AP) President Barack Obama's pick for the No. 2 post at the Environmental Protection Agency is removing himself from consideration.
Jon Cannon, a professor of environmental law at the University of Virginia, says he is withdrawing as the nominee for deputy EPA administrator because of scrutiny surrounding the America's Clean Water Foundation.

Change! Hope!
Another one can’t pass the test.
Even the losers who did not withdraw under a cloud are all blatant crooks.
One candidate, and one candidate only, the Republican Senator, withdrew since Obama/Rahm were totally corrupting the Census.
The List, ping
but, but, the news tells me it’s the smoothest transition in the history of the entire universe!!!!
pffft.......Sir Hopenchange
This, ladies and gents, is what a real culture of corruption looks like.
This administration is about to go into freefall.
They are facing a real challenge to come up with enough un currupted Rats to fill out the administration.
I never heard of so many telling any President " Thanks, but no thanks." I always heard that if called upon by your President, it was an honor to serve and one didn't turn that down. Do all of these people have something to hide? Or are they afraid of being connected to the Obama Administration? I wonder which is the motivation to say No.
“The EPA’s inspector general’s concluded in 2007 that the foundation mismanaged $25 million in EPA grants.”
Hmmmm - seems like he would fit right in with the rest of the crew
Jon Cannon, a professor of environmental law at the “University of Virginia, says he is withdrawing as the nominee for deputy EPA administrator because of scrutiny surrounding the America’s Clean Water Foundation. Cannon once served on the now-defunct organization’s board of directors. The EPA’s inspector general’s concluded in 2007 that the foundation mismanaged $25 million in EPA grants.”
With those qualifications he should probably just run for Congress.
How ironic. The Clean Water Foundation is dirty.
Has my vote.
At first I thought this was going to be about the NCAA tournament...
just hysterical!!!!!!!!!!!!
One wouldn't get that impression watching CNNABCCBSNBC! I pray you are right!
maybe he forgot to pay his tax?
Either he picks crooks.....or people don’t want to be associated him.
You know..they say rats desert a sinking ship. Well, the Obama ship must have already sunk ‘cause he cannot even get any rats aboard!
Like nothing we’ve ever seen before....
I would like to think the rats know something about the ship and don’t want to board before it sails and sinks.
Wishful thinking aside....
Er, sorry Barrak, I'm too pahkin crooked to you up on the offer!
There is something seriously wrong if you can’t even get rats to eat your garbage.
Seems that his administration was not “shovel ready”.
Hopeychangey lost another one.

Another one bites the dust....
Does anyone have a running tally on the withdrawls?
Am I the only one in the goddamn country who pays his goddamn taxes?
Obama sure is keeping his promise to shrink the size of government.

EPA out of luck getting money back from dissolved’ foundation
Pantagraph, The (Bloomington, IL) - Wednesday, June 20, 2007
Author: Alan Guebert
The Office of Inspector General at the Environmental Protection Agency has recommended EPA seek to recover nearly $25.2 million of the $25.4 million given America’s Clean Water Foundation in three federal grants - $21.1 million of which went to Validus Services LLC, a for-profit subsidiary of the National Pork Producer Council (NPPC).
There’s a small problem in getting the loot back, however. On July 14, 2006, the foundation’s attorney told EPA that the foundation had “dissolved”- vanished - along with its office, employees and board of directors.
America’s Clean Water Foundation (ACWF) and NPPC have a short, profitable history - a history this space outlined twice in 2001 and 2002.
A December 2001 column documented how the not-for-profit NPPC established a for-profit subsidiary - then called Environmental Management Solutions, LLC (EMS), now Validus - with the help of the not-for-profit, Washington, D.C.-based ACWF.
A February 2002 column explained how NPPC then became the “exclusive” license holder of producer checkoff-developed programs like the On-Farm Odor/Environmental Assistance Program, the Environmental Assurance Program and “all other (checkoff) environmental programs.”
The deal was particularly sweet because NPPC would make “no royalty payment” for the licenses to the checkoff for “years 0 to 5 inclusive” while allowing it to “grant sublicenses to third parties, including a subsidiary Limited Liability Company ...’”
The licenses were the linchpin to NPPC hopes for its fledgling subsidiary.
At that time, NPPC was pushing Congress to boost the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Environmental Quality Incentives Program from $200 million in the 1995 farm bill to nearly $1 billion in the 2002 farm bill. (Its wish came true.) Most of the cash would assist livestock producers to identify, then fix, their environmental problems.
With arguably the best livestock assessment program licensed to it free for five years and an anticipated five-fold increase in federal dollars to fix problems identified by that program, NPPC had positioned its for-profit arm, at the time EMS, to profit for years to come.
And it did. Of the $25.9 million in three EPA grants awarded to America’s Clean Water Foundation between 1998 and 2003, NPPC/EMS/Validus, the foundation’s biggest contractor, received $21.1 million to operate on-farm environmental programs.
But the wheels on the slick deal began to squeak when the foundation’s accountant “discovered accounting irregularities and a potential embezzlement of funds” in a mid-2004 audit of the EPA grants.
EPA, according to the Inspector General’s Feb. 20, 2007, report on the grants then spent two years trying to get to the bottom of an increasingly rotten barrel at the foundation. Every time it went deeper, though, it found more trouble -incorrect labor costs, unsupported or inaccurate payments, duplicate records and worse.
(snip)
Five years from now, would YOU want it on YOUR resume’ that you served in the Obama administration? Being a sexual predator will be more acceptable.
EPA Statement on Jon Cannon
Release date: 03/25/2009
(Washington, D.C. March 25, 2009) Jon Cannon, nominee for Deputy U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator, released the following statement:
Today I am voluntarily removing my name from consideration to be Deputy Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency. It has come to my attention that Americas Clean Water Foundation, where I once served on the board of directors, has become the subject of scrutiny. While my service on the board of that now-dissolved organization is not the subject of the scrutiny, I believe the energy and environmental challenges facing our nation are too great to delay confirmation for this position, and I do not wish to present any distraction to the agency.
EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson said: Im disappointed that Jon Cannon will be unable to serve as Deputy Administrator, and I thank him for his many years of dedication to the EPA. The administration will move quickly to identify a new candidate who can help us carry out our mission to preserve environmental sustainability and create green jobs as we transition the nation to a clean energy economy.

Hussein wlll keep on having this problem so long as he tries to appoint mere tax cheats and liberals who don’t want the coming disasters to rub off on them and make them unemployable and without further influence on anything at all. Hussein needs to take the bull by the tail and appoint the folks he believes he actually needs, anyway, to wit actual Communists. They will not get cold feet and back out.

So he's under-qualified. To work in this administration, you need a resume that shows you're capable of mismanaging trillions.
Has the current teleprompter withdrawn yet....
bwa-ha ha ha aah ha ha
Ditto. They obviously have some sort of a “life” outside of work and want to keep it that way. You sign up with Obama, you sign your life away. Kind of like..... well... you know.
“At first I thought this was going to be about the NCAA tournament...”
LOL, so did I.
Either he picks crooks.....or people dont want to be associated him.”
* * * * * * * *
How did they not know about the Inspector’s report to begin with?
And btw, would YOU want to be associated with him?
Didn’t think so.
;-)
Please don’t use God’s name in vain on here. Have some respect.
I guess he thinks he’s still in Chicago.
Birds of a feather flock together and Barack earmarked $300,000 a year to himself via his wife.
Perhaps he can identify with them? I am certain Rezko & Blago would concur.
