Fear Factor Hits the Nation
NY Post ^ | March 22, 2009 | Ben Walters

Timlin, owner of the Smoke N Gun Shop in Mount Vernon, New York, as well as a gun training school, security company, and shooting ranges, says his store is struggling to meet demand. "Common stuff that normally wouldn't be on a waiting list handguns, ammunition, assault rifles, pretty much anything there's a good chance you're going to be waiting for it."

But the demand is not, Timlin insists, coming from what some on the Left may label a "fringe element." It's homeowners, businesspeople, many who have never owned a gun before. And they aren't "stomping their feet and screaming."

"They aren't angry nowadays," Timlin says. "People are scared."

There will be no economic recovery until Obozo is out of office.

Some people realize the enormity of the “Change” we are in. (Change is a code word for Communism)

And that “fear” is why people are reacting this way.

“Guns, gold, tea parties, and a rising sense that something isn’t right.”...

I think people are very afraid. The takers have taken over. Our Founding Fathers warned us that this could happen when enough people realized they could steal from others through their government. We have never seen anything like what is happening now because of the state of morality in America and the forced removal of faith in a higher power from our culture. A Mother recently told me with excitement that her little girl, a kindergarten student, was to be tested for the school gifted program and while I rejoiced with her, my thoughts were turning to the potential police state we face where the government will decide who gets opportunity to succeed and will decide who will fail, regardless of intellectual, artistic or other kinds of potential. As President Obama goes on Leno and laughs through it all, Americans by the millions prepare for hard times where their dollars will be worthless and the violence they fear from their government and elsewhere will become reality. The problem is that some of our powerful leaders in Washington D.C. for 30-40 years, are insulated from the real world because they have not been required to face the sacrifices required of the rest of us.
They think they will continue to be above it all when the genuine suffering hits. They need to read history.

I agree with you that a decline in morality and ethics, precipitated by taking the Word of God out of the public schools, is at the root of this mess. Too many people have lost a sense of right and wrong. Look at what happened when that young blogger from Brooklyn NY confronted Charlie Rangel in the Capitol about his tax and financial scandals. Rangel told him, “mind your G.D. business.” As if congressmen and their ethical failings aren’t our business??!! Who do they think they are?? I thought that incident afforded a candid look at the heart of a 40 year DC insider. Black-hearted and rotten to the core. And typical.

Who wouldn’t be afraid when you are walking with your platoon in enemy territory with an idiot 2nd lieutenant in command?

Actually, the band on the Titanic knew the ship was sinking. We have a ship’s captain who is wondering why the bow is so close to the water.

“On the edges of this you find the secessionists, who’ve found an unlikely hero in martial artist and actor Chuck Norris. Earlier this month, he talked about running for president of Texas. “That need may be a reality sooner than we think,” he wrote soon afterward.”

Wow, maybe we need a badass like Chuck Norris to lead us.

The modern version of the band on the Titanic.

No...the band simply accepted that they were going to die and so contributed one last act of beauty to the world before they passed. This guy is fiddling while Rome burns.

I just bought a shotgun from this guy. He’s pretty cool. Got into this business late in life as a third career. You can’t believe how packed his store was at 10:30am on a Tuesday. People are getting ready for governmental collapse. It is complete insanity.

“2nd lieutenant in command”

What’s really scary after watching Sunday morning TV, he doesn’t have an experienced Sargent under his command.

Depends on what you're looking for and where you're shopping.

Com'on down! The more the merrier.

All I want is a double wide with a large garage on as much land as possible in the middle of nowhere (125,000 or less)... and a 1000 yrd fireing range close by if I can't fire off my AR50 out of the back yard into the hills.

Go to realtor.com and check out properties in the Kempner and Lampasas area. I found a few properties that sound like what you’re looking for.

If you’re serious about moving here, I’d find a realtor in the area and be sure to tell them you want ot live on Lampasas County and NOT live in city limits. There are some restrictions in the city limits that don’t apply to folks just sharing the same county.

Lampasas County is awesome! The school district has an old fashioned attitude and the cops are pretty laid back. You can do pretty much whatever you want on your property as long as you don’t have a pig farm.

It worries me to hear New Yorkers have adopted the Western mindset like you describe. I mean, not that it's bad they're waking up, just that it's bad news that even New Yorkers are feeling that our nation is dreadfully ill -- They've always seemed to me to be the folks who will tolerate almost any government abuse. No offense.

As in, if even New Yorkers are bunkering down, then that's a bad signal for the nation. I'm used to that mindset out here, but if the movement is afoot in New York then the future might be even worse than I expected.

You must be thinking of New Jersey. Most of NY is rural albeit liberal. I was reading a history of the Revolution, and NJ was already a liberal hell hole back then.

I don’t know what the consequences are. I’ve never been tempted to go there. I do think that I can have one or two pigs, but I can’t have a bunch of them. (no idea what the limit is.)

I agree New Jersey is worse, and NY isn’t all NYC. I was generally thinking of that entire stretch of New England — minus NH and some of VT.

Thanks for the info and picture.

Problem these days is you can’t sell your current home and go like you could 3 years ago.

There still seems to be an OK supply of jobs in Texas for what I do (SAP programmer/developer/configurator), but I have to be out in the country ... no citys. Hunt my own property would be nice.

I’ll be seeing my buddy in east Tenn. this July and see what is down that-a-way.

Where in east Texas is good ... Tyler, Dallas area?
