'WE will hunt you down!" thundered Rep. Jared Polis (D-Colo.) during the AIG bonus demagogue-a-thon on the House floor Thursday. "If they're not going to give [the bonuses] back, we're going to take them back," growled Rep. Artur Davis (D-Ala.), who vowed to recover the taxpayers' "ill-gotten gains" from rogue corporate executives.
House Republicans pressed the Democrats on who knew what and when regarding the AIG bonus protections included in Connecticut Sen. Chris Dodd's now infamous amendment to the stimulus bill. Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) shrieked about the Bush administration's culpability. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) smugly patted Democrats on the back for "protecting the national interest."
I ask you now to turn away from the bogus bonus smokescreen over $165 million in taxpayer-backed compensation packages for AIG employees. It is a pittance compared to the gargantuan spending spree happening right under our noses.
The AIG bonus pricetag amounts to one tenth of 1 percent of the total AIG giveaway ($85 billion in September, $37.8 billion in October; $40 billion in November; $30 billion in early March), which took place with the assent of a Republican administration, a Democratic administration and the congressional leadership of both parties.

The real deal.....the real thievery of taxpayer $$$$ by the fake capitalist of Wall St and other financial centers. Banks and investment banks
Don’t forget the kickbacks and under the table deals that are lining their pockets.
“which took place with the assent of a Republican administration, a Democratic administration and the congressional leadership of both parties.”
Toss em all out and start with fresh people who have never served in office.
What kills me is that these Wall st. firms sent a lot of money to the political campaigns of these leftist maggots. These senior financial executives are either painfully ignorant of who these leftists maggots are and what they represent, or they are complicit useful idiots.
Barney’s Frank and Co. are out to kill capitalism. The witch hunt over the bonuses is a big smoke screen. I don’t personally agree that any AIG senior exec should receive an outsized bonus, especially considering the scale of their failure - but I don’t want the government making that call. It’s another thing entirely to tax the bonuses of the folks “down in the weeds” who are working 60+ hours per week, trying to fix the mess.
I would have refused to provide the names of employees who recieved bonuses and fought Barney & Co. all the way to the Supreme Court. People need to stand up to these left wing maggots or they will enslave all of us.
How about a bus tour for politicians and their friends who received sweetheart deals. This economy is going to continue to fail because Democrats and their President hate Capitalism except for themselves
What a bunch of self-righteous hypocrites! Never mind that the total amount is a tenth of a percent of the money doled out by AIG. Never mind that there has been no analysis of the logic or justification behind the "bonuses." We, the sheeple, need not know the details; we are just supposed to get angry at whatever the hypocrites want us to get angry at.
I would like to know a little more about the distribution of the bonuses. How many people received the money; how much did they receive? What was the basis of handing it out? Was it really part of their earning package? Is it business as usual for a business like AIG? How much collusion was there between the government regulators and AIG?
If we actually had responsible journalism we would all have an idea of where the bonuses fit in the context of the business, its relationship to government regulators, the language of the law that was passed, and how the bonuses fit into the normal business model. Then we could actually make a better informed judgement.
Are we anti-AIG? Anti-Congress? Anti-Bush/Paulson/Geithner/Obama.....
Well, we'll see what the tens of trillions of debt sweeps away, like fire in Gone With The Wind did to Atlanta.
All this has been coming for decades. Lefties, RINO’s, Democrat and food stuffing ignorant Americans.
Could we do worse?
(no)
This sounds like a bad pirate movie from the 1950’s playing on New York channel 5 at midnight during the 60’s.
“These senior financial executives are either painfully ignorant of who these leftists maggots are and what they represent, or they are complicit useful idiots.”
In some cases they are both. In some cases Congress went to them and ‘asked’ for the money.
Pay to Play so to speak. Works in Chicago.
Hey, friends, don’t forget that every second we are being duped by the Charlatain President Iran gets closer and close to having the Bomb. They will use it to finish the job.
They could not be nearly so successful without their partners on Capitol Hill and in the various government agencies. The government has got all its financial expertise from Goldman Sachs for many years so the government is populated with men loyal to each other and to their GS comrades. When the dollar hit the fan their first and primary reaction was to shovel out the remaining wealth to their comrades, much of it surely for deposit in offshore banks in inflation proof forms like gold.
Yes, I’m thankful that at least one newspaper is writing about it.
As Chucky Schumer said.....”The American people don’t care”.........
“Million Dollar Movies” ?
