This blog post reads as if a high school kid wrote it. What does Cillizza cite, (answer: not one damn thing), to back up his allegations that it was Palin and her staff and not the congressional and senate republicans committees who were the cause of the "miscommunication or lack of communication" between the latter two and Palin?
As for her status of a nat'l figure being "undeserved" that statement is not only a lie it is ignorant and petty.
And what's all the mystery surrounding van Susteren's husband about? (real answer: nothing). It appears that John Coale is more than a tad more perceptive who is genuine and altruistic than Chris Cillizza could hope to be.
Cillizza writes about as intriguing and understandable as Robt Gibbs speaks.

Yep. But interesting though to see who the MSM thinks to be behind Palin. Expect some “Joe the Plumber” type intrusions into their privacy.

Remember when the Democrat press wouldn't stop telling us about how Texas has a "weak Governor" system, when Bush was running for President?
That is actually true. It's not the "Democrat" press that will tell you this, it's any Texan who understands the history and functioning of state government.

The Texas governor was stripped of some power due "Ma" and "Pa" Ferguson, a popular, but corrupt, husband and wife who each spent a term in governor. "Ma" Ferguson won the office after her husband was impeached and thrown out of office.

The Fergusons were popular because she was anti-Klan and anti-prohibition, but they were corrupt in the way the doled out pardons (up to 100 a month) and state contracts.

The Ferguson legacy of corruption ended up forcing the Texas legislature to roll back the power of the governor. Today, the Lt. Governor is considered the person with the most actual power.

Anyway, Palin may have a lot of power in the government, but if the legislature only meets 90 days a year, it can't be that hard a state to run. In contrast, the California state legislature meets from January-September.

Fascinating. I’ve never seen the mainstream media give so much coverage to an ostensibly failed vice presidential candidate. And her family. And their neighbors. I mean, ABC News sent a reporter and camera crew to gotcha Levi Johnson in his driveway about what happened with Bristol. Seriously? No, really, seriously? With so much going on in politics and elsewhere that’s actually newsworthy, they went with that instead? Brilliant. Just brilliant. And they wonder why millions of us are cheering when their colleagues lose their jobs.

First things first. She has to mind her Governor's position and all its attendant issues. She must not take it for granted she will be reelected to the Governor position. I firmly believe she will be reelected.

The reason for the constant attacks and put downs, ridicule, etc., is to diminish her in the minds of the public at large, that do little more than listen to news briefs, and believe it is the truth.

She is our hope for the future. A very excellent communicator and is ‘real’. A sincere person that took on the ‘big boys’ in her state in order to change the way things work in Alaska.

Corruption is so established within government; and has been for years and years. It is an accepted fact by the ‘good ole boys’. I admire her for taking them on ... and winning!!!

She deserves to have true Republicans stand strongly with her; and not fold like a bunch of wimps at the first signs of criticism. Where is the backbone in the Republican party? I am ashamed of how they have behaved during the past 20 years and it is getting worse by the day. (if that is possible)

What they have is NO GUTS!

BUT they sure want the 'GLORY', don't they?

The party must be rebuilt from within; and the long timers need to go. Remember a few years back there were ads in all the newspapers ... full page ads ... to the effect

REPLACE EVERY SINGLE POLITICAN THAT IS CURRENTLY UP FOR RE-ELECTION WITH NEW BLOOD. Great idea.

First you waste all that space telling us what we already know about the Texas Governorship and giving a history lesson for some reason, the writer was simply pointing out how often that was repeated by the media to weaken Bush's credentials as a re elected Governor.

Then you proceed to ignore the history that even the liberal NYT honestly points out, that the Alaskan governor is arguably the most powerful Governor in the nation, or as in the article Governor Palin is the second most powerful Governor in the nation. Oh yeah you are the guy that confused her with the legislature.

New York Times:
"That said, by other measures, Alaska is harder to govern than a smaller, more settled realm in the Lower 48. With vast distances, large numbers of indigenous peoples and a narrowly based extraction economy — with a handful of giant multinational oil corporations dominating the game — some economists say a country like Nigeria might be an apter comparison."

"First, the State Constitution concentrates power in the governor’s office more thoroughly than in almost any other state — a legacy of the late 1950s, historians say, when statehood and a simultaneous trend all over the country toward elevating executive authority coincided.

Alaskan governors can edit legislation and their vetoes are tougher for lawmakers to overcome. In the numerical scale of power devised by Thad Beyle, a political scientist at the University of North Carolina, only Massachusetts’ governor has a mightier tool kit."

I was responding to the claim that “running the largest state in the union is not a part time job.”

Apparently it is, and nothing you’ve posted says otherwise.

Legislators don’t run things.

Executives run things.

Legislators pass laws.

You are the idiot trying to convince us that being the Alaskan Governor is part time work.

It is your claim, now get to proving it.

“You are the idiot trying to convince us that being the Alaskan Governor is part time work.”

I never said that the Alaska Governor is part time work. I just said that “running the state” is, apparently, part time work. So the Alaska governor has a lot of power over the legislature. It meets 90 days a year. What does she do the rest of the year? You tell me.

Or, if you have run out of facts, you can call me names. Oh, you already did. Hmmm.

It is your silly claim, start posting your proof.

Since you keep claiming it is apparent, make it apparent to the rest of us that know you are blowing odors and wasting our time.

The legislature meets for 90 days a year. That’s pretty solid proof that Alaska doesn’t have a demanding roster of state business. If you can’t understand that, then I guess I’m wasting my time as well.

Show us your evidence that the governors job in Alaska is part time.

I can’t wait for her Alaska re-election to President.

One thing for sure that Palin supporters don't have to worry about is her continuing electoral success in Alaska. Many other, less than stellar politicians have been haunted by losing support among their home constituency before seeking higher office. As the hardest working Governor in America, her popularity ratings reflect her dedication to her state.

I have actually had coworkers who are by no means Republicans tell me that every time the media mentions her kids or goes after her family at all it makes them root for her.

Of course because the people in the media don't know anyone who likes her or could think this way they will just keep going with it.
