A few days ago I posted about the Obama administrations plan to rob soldiers of some of their medical benefits. Today the head of the American Legion (the nations largest veterans organization) paid a visit to Obama to talk about the issue, and he didnt leave happy.Normally I am a staunch advocate of limited government and privatization. But in this instance we have troops who served their country, often in awful war zones that left them scarred and maimed, and they did so with the assumption that medical care would be one of the benefits theyd receive as compensation. The government has no business trying to opt out of that.

Thanks to all you Obama voters, stay at home cry babies and third party voters for not voting to stop this man. If any of you are veterans that this will affect, how is this vote for change treating ya? You are responsible for this train wreck.
That money has been redistributed elsewhere.
I’m thinking if he pushes amnesty through he won’t need veterans in 2012.
“Thanks to all you Obama voters, stay at home cry babies and third party voters for not voting to stop this man.”
we could have had a POW veteran as commander in chief. That’s what makes this Obama revelation really stinky.

You’re right.
Anybody who did not see this coming is either brain dead or lives on Mars. Hussein has no love for the military, has accused then of murdering women and children and will use them as his doormat if allowed. President Bush is being appreciated more each day by the antics of Obama.
Where’s the fight......and I mean a meaningful one, I’ve been ready far too long.
Yes, blame the voter for your Party's ineptitude, gross incompetence, and rank opportunism. Yes, reward failure because...the alternative is "unthinkable"!
It's not the GOP/RNC/RINO Party's fault that it could not successfully convince conservative voters to vote for its candidate...it's the voters' faults for not being dumb enough to support yet another RINO! /sarc
The American Legion and VFW should start running anti-Obama advertisements NOW! The sooner - the better in my estimation.
Hmm...smells fishy to me. Think about this—Could this be a really disgustingly Machiavellian(sp?)ploy to bring about the return of the draft? I mean, if this goes through, what happens to our numbers of voluntary enlistments?
You have to know that a lot of O’s dem friends have harped for years about bringing back the draft, so that rich, privelidged(read, white) kids will have to serve in the military.
If voluntary enlistments decline due to despicable policies like this, can they then demand reinstatement of the draft?
Yup. McCain gets a lot of grief on this board — but he would NEVER disrespect America’s veterans like this. NEVER.
“Could this be a really disgustingly Machiavellian(sp?)ploy to bring about the return of the draft?”
Interesting. Mark Levin mentioned something about overloading the private insurance companies to force nationalized healthcare. Of course it could be both!
Even if it IS NOT some evil plan - that will still be the outcome.
I am a veteran this will affect and IIRC, and unfortunately a good segment of veterans voted for ‘change’ = Obama
Nobody on this friggin' Forum voted for Obama.
stay at home cry babies
Conservatives still went out and voted for McCain.
and third party voters for not voting to stop this man.
You simply have no control over the actions of other people.
If any of you are veterans that this will affect, how is this vote for change treating ya? You are responsible for this train wreck.
Stop being hyperbolic, newbie.
A veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to The United States of America, for an amount of Up to and including my life.
The American people gave our military the finger by electing Hussein.
A message to the left and the right who voted for Hussein.
Give up and leave now while you still can.
EEE, you were the head cheerleader with knee pads and all in Ron Paul’s name, trying to get people to vote third party. You helped elect Obama, so piss off.
good one. that hushed up that young one didn’t it?
Obama has just planted some seeds he will regret when they are harvested.
If there are any Tuskeege (sp?) airmen left, they should be contacted for their views on this raghead’s latest assault on the country.
Not for long, I am afraid.
.... divided we fall.
You naively assume that I have no life experience just because I'm twenty-three. You stupidly assume that my life has been fine and dandy and that I don't suffer from any hardships.
Think again.
You pushed hard to get voters to vote third party.
I pushed for my fellow voters to support conservatives, something I can't say holds true for you.
This is your damn train wreck.
Quit trying to evade responsibility. If I'm so young and inexperienced, as you claim, then how are the years of rot and decaya direct result of taking the "pragmatic" and "moderate" approach to one's own core principleswithin the Republican Party *my* fault?
You were okay with having Obama, you got him.
When did I say that?
When did I ever say that I was "okay" with having Obama?
I was never okay with Obama. But I was also never okay with McCain either. Both of them are detestable, treasonous skunks, and neither is, or ever will be, worthy of filling the office of President of the United States of America.
This is another sign of Obama’s gross incompetence. There is ZERO chance that this will pass Congress (even Patty Murray called id DOA!) - but by discussing it, he gains the everlasting hatred of those who have served.
It is Lose/Lose for him...so why? All I can come up with is Michelle sitting at the table, flexing and saying, “But Bill Ayers said it was a great idea...”
If you want to talk about me, don't do it behind my back a la McCain.
Unfortunately they were probably coned into thinking about how voting President Obama into office would be a sign of progress.
Yet, the throngs of ignorant Americans adore The One.
The locals here in Orange County are giddy that The One will be visiting on Wednesday. So much for Orange County Conservatives. We have Obama stickers on BMW's and MBZ's here.
Why should I join with and support folks who believe in privileging pragmatism over principle, essentially selling their souls to save their skins? Either you know who you are and what you believe in, and you stand firm, come what may, or you are just a fair-weather fool and a follower.
The responsibility for governance requires more than simple charisma. It requires a capacity for leadership, grounded in a set of core principles, a willingness to stand one's ground, unflinchingly, against the opposition even when the odds are not in one's favor, and a certain trust and faith in one's Creator that ultimately, good will prevail over evil.
I don’t remember anyone here, save for a few trolls that lasted less than a day, cheering for Obama. I remember much anti-RINO sentiment, and I remember a very lackluster campaign from McCain who said he agreed with Obama on many points. As the big dog on the block, the RNC is at fault for not choosing Conservatism, the only policy they have ever ridden to victory. Maybe RINO’s need a little socialism to see that even a little, is terribly dangerous.
mtrott wrote, “Hmm...smells fishy to me.”
Smells fishy to me, too. Why would a president with Marxist leanings want to privatize health insurance for vets? I think the theory that he wants to overload insurance companies in order to nationalize them makes sense.
But why create such a public relations disaster so soon? No one is going to like this one, especially not the military. It seems intentionally provocative, as though he is trying to bring the simmering tensions to a head.
Unless and until the infighting among those that claim to be conservative or Republican stops, we will not be in power again for a very long time. Keep it up folks the other side loves it.
That’s nice in theory....in theory I agree. But we didn’t have the choice of Ronald Reagan v BO...and no one else but McCain ever had a chance at beating BO.
I once threw away a vote for Ross Perot and we got Clinton. Never again.
Lots of votes were thrown away and now we have what is probably the worst president this country will ever see. NOT worth it.
Your position reminds me of those who say they’d rather see the country get nuked than waterboard a terrorist.
settle down junior. ‘behind you back’? my post was right up and out front here for everybody to see including you wasn’t it? you are in over your head here it appears young man.
I wasn’t the least bit thrilled with McCain but there’s no way he could be a fraction as bad as Obama.
Yeah, thats about it, LOL.
Thank you all of you marxist liberals, free loaders, race baiters, dumb rhinos, and even stupider vets who voted bozo into office /sarc>
He could absolutely be several fractions as bad, and then the right would get the blame.
Rumor has it that it's good etiquette to ping other Freepers you talk about, if you're talking about them publicly.
The leftists characterize the actions RINOs such as Bush and McCain (and yes, Bush was a RINO) as being representative of conservatism in general, so when they fail, they use such failure to discredit both conservatism and libertarianism simultaneously.
Will the military shoot at their brothers and sisters and mothers and fathers-—or will they turn their weapons on the elite overlords?
Read up on the Bonus Army from FDR’s days. Patton and MacArthur were in charge, and our troops fired on WW I vets and razed their protest camp in D.C. Several were injured, and a baby was killed.
It is ironic that one of the results of the Bonus Army protest was veteran’s benefits.
good God. confused a bit here are you? okay son, whatever you say, but how about letting the adults talk now and you go back to your cartoons somewhere.
Never let a good train wreck go to waste!
Rabs is right, and you are wrong. It is called a "courtesy ping", and it is very bad form to talk about another FReeper without pinging him to the post.
It is simply a matter of having good manners and reasonable civility.
It was all hope, change, pie, and suntan.
Tough to beat that with someone who is always 'reaching across', even though I think Sarah gave him a lot of votes he might not have had otherwise (I voted for her).
So, in a year, they can all point to the honorable men and women who cannot afford health care after having been injured in the service of their country and use it to push Socialized Health Care.
Typical Liberal/Democrat: create a problem, then push the bogus (Marxist) solution. Just another step toward State control of everything.
