AFA Petition - Should Mike Steele Resign?
AFA Website ^ | 13 Mar 2009 | Webb Master

Posted on 03/13/2009 1:27:11 PM PDT by Titus Quinctius Cincinnatus

Republican National Chairman Michael Steele says abortion is a choice, homosexuality is not In a recent interview, Republican National Chairman Michael Steele told GQ magazine that he supports abortion rights. "I think that's an individual choice (to have an abortion)," he said.

Are you saying you think women have the right to choose abortion? Yeah. I mean, again, I think that’s an individual choice.

You do? Yeah. Absolutely.

Steele later issued a statement "clarifying” his comments regarding abortion saying he is “pro-life.”

Steele also disputed the view that being homosexual is a lifestyle choice. "I don't think I've ever really subscribed to that view that you can turn it on and off like a water tap. ...You just can't simply say, oh, like, 'Tomorrow morning I'm gonna stop being gay.' It's like saying 'Tomorrow morning I'm gonna stop being black,'" explained Steele.

Steele said an amendment to define marriage as a union between one man and one woman is a state issue and is “mucking around with the Constitution.”

In light of Chairman Steele’s remarks, should he resign as Chairman of the Republican National Committee?

We ask that only registered Republicans, or those who voted Republican in the last election participate.

“You just can’t simply say, oh, like, ‘Tomorrow morning I’m gonna stop being gay.’ It’s like saying ‘Tomorrow morning I’m gonna stop being black,’” explained Steele.”

that is such an often parroted idiotic Liberal line that it alone should be grounds for throwing this moron out on his ass...gay and black are hardly equal states...gay is to black what unicorns are to cows...

No way. The two biggest tests have yet to come: NY-20 on March 31st and Virginia state elections in November.

My answer is yes. No amount of coaching or painting over stripes is going to make a zebra a race horse. Steele isn’t a conservative and playing one on TV isn’t good enough with what is at stake.

Sheesh. Everytime we think we’re getting a real conservative LEADER, they end up showing their true colors.

I think this is all funny! Thank you to all those who wanted Steele merely because he was a "Man of Color". These are the same people who wanted both Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice for President.

American will not be destroyed by foreign enemies, but rather guilt ridden White citizens.

This dishonest site only printed part of his claification. He made one of the most pro-life statements I've ever seen in response to all this nonsense. The fact that he is adopted and his Mother made the incredibly brave choice of having him instead of aborting him, has been distorting to mean he is "pro-choice".

J.C. is very pro-afirmative action. No one is ever conservative enough for the malcontents.

Unfortunately, he lacks EXPERIENCE and think the less we dwell on him the better at this time. The libs are “salivating” over the conservatives’ anger at him. Shouldn’t Illinois democrats be outraged over Burris’ appointment? No, the dems always stand together and give the Perp a “pass”. Obama even stated the other day when asked why he didn’t dispute all the “Earmarks” responded, “I have to take care of more important issues”. What kind of answer is that?? Obviously good enough for the press and the dums!!!!

I saw him on Hannity the other evening. It looks to me like he is using a lot of Brasso on his image.

Michael Steele can stay on as the GOP outreach director to the mentally retarded. For that he is eminently qualified.

It’s a no-win for conservatives as far as the media are concerned.

If we vote no, we’re hypocrites.

If we vote yes, we’re racists.

Remember: Only democrats and liberals are allowed to be flawed.

What a shame! Michael Jackson used to be a good-looking kid with talent. Then he became a freaky white woman with a can opener for a nose.

"I think that's an individual choice (to have an abortion),"

Wrong object. I'll fix it.

"I think that's an individual choice (to have an abortion)," to kill their baby. That is what they are choosing or not choosing.

Should Mike Steele Resign?

Why? Those folks will choose another "moderate" and we have to endure the howls of the media about how Republicans cannot accept a black man. We don't need a different moderate party chairman. We need another party.

Every time we think we’re getting a real conservative LEADER, they end up showing their true colors.

That's how it works. Work your tail off to elect your guy and very quickly your guy ain't your guy anymore.

Actually, I had heard him a number of times on Bill Bennett’s radio show. He seemed to say all the right things and make a lot of sense there. Of course, Professor Bill never asked a probing question in his life, I suspect. But Steele filled in for him, too, and carried on very well, again handling the issues quite correctly. I’m having trouble understanding how he has collapsed like this, but I suppose I just didn’t listen closely enough.

I haven’t trusted Steele from the moment I heard he was selected as the chairman. Something about the way he put things.

His latest statements are very serious. They undermine the very core of what it means to be a conservative.
