STATE CONSTITUTIONAL PROVISION
“The people have the right to keep and bear arms, which right shall not be abridged; but this provision shall not prevent the passage of laws to govern the carrying of weapons concealed on the person, nor prevent passage of legislation providing minimum sentences for crimes committed while in possession of a firearm, nor prevent passage of legislation providing penalties for the possession of firearms by a convicted felon, nor prevent the passage of legislation punishing the use of a firearm. No law shall impose licensure, registration or special taxation on the ownership or possession of firearms or ammunition. Nor shall any law permit the confiscation of firearms, except those actually used in the commission of a felony.” Article 1, Section 11.
Because California, queer as it may be amongst the many states, is still subject to, and had better obey, the Bill of Rights.

Ok, I see where this is going. You're a states' rights guy, correct? And since my state happens to ban and crap on gun owners, I should pack up and leave for better shores.
My state is in complete violation of the 2nd ammendment as I'll bet yours is too (iffen you want to see, axe your local gun shop if you need permission to carry, to clean, or to sell a gun).
I'll try to better explain the purpose of having a BOR added to the Constitution: Namely, to define certains rights that the "people" would enjoy regardless the level of government being considered. They wanted this all-powerful central government to respect rights they had become accustomed to, while adding limits just in case.
The Bill of Rights was simply a way of making clear to this 'new' government entity that certain rights could not be violated- by them, or any other level of 'government'. These are "rights" that belong to the "people", and shall not be infringed.
What's most confusing is the language that appears to suggest that whatever powers are not within the purview of the Feds, belong to the States or the People, respectively. It shouldn't be that cloudy, but it is, thanks to our Supreme Court. The Feds are empowered to 'promote the general welfare' of the country, but they'd be hard-pressed to explain how killing 40-50 million fetuses since 1973 accomplishes that. Or maybe the wide-open border with Mexico and it's affect on our sovereignty.
In short, our Federal Government acts in it's own self-interest. Our states do the same. And the people must bear the burden. That's NOT how this country was planned. These 'servants' of the people have absconded our rights and have created much of the mayhem we witness today.
If these rights are not returned to their 'rightful' owners, and soon, this country is doomed. The corrosive effect of such long employed tyranny against our constitution should, anytime soon, cause Lady Liberty to fall face first into the bay- torch and all.
I can only say I wish my state had such written in it's constitution, but, it wouldn't be necessary were the Fed and Courts capable of reading and comprehending the 2A.

Private party sales..Gun shows,newspapers,ext~ no paperwork needed..If you have a CCW Permit then new Firearms from a FFL are as easy as fill out the form and leave WITH Gun
I'm the reddest redneck in California. And, I bet Idaho is beautiful most any time of the year, summers notwhithstanding.
But let's face it. You bring the hottest chicks in Idaho to a tailgate party, and I'd have to hire limos to deliver the girls from California, know what I mean? ;^) It's all...about....heels.
