Weapons Seized After Reynosa Shootout And Reports Of Civilians Killed During Shootout (Video)

REYNOSA, Mexico - There are new details on a shootout between suspected cartel members and federal police in Reynosa. Mexican officials seized weapons including automatic assault rifles, grenades, cop killer bullets, and radio equipment late Saturday night after the shootout.

Authorities say federal police officers tried to stop the driver of a gray Tahoe SUV with Texas plates for inspection, but someone inside fired shots. Officers chased the truck. They're confirming two people were arrested, a 19- and 20-year-old.

There are conflicting reports this morning on possible civilian deaths during the chase and shootout. Mexican media is reporting at least three people died and four more were hurt. They include a mother and her 16-year-old daughter, who were reportedly walking on the street when hit by gun fire during the chase.

There are also reports that a group of four teenage girls inside a gray Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV were fired on by federal police. Reports say there were three bodies lying on the ground in front of the Hotel Paradise in Reynosa.

Mexican authorities did not allow any press near the scene and did not confirm any of the deaths.

Reportedly Reynosa's General Hospital remained under tight security throughout the day Sunday while several federal police officers who were also injured received treatment.

My company is in the process of closing out one of our plants in the USA and moving the work to Reynosa.

When I learned of the closure, I asked, “So what are they going to do when the cartels start the shake-down for protection money? How much will that help the company's bottom line?”

This sounds like the shootout that I received photos of by email. I asked several people if they would post them for me but no one would do it. I don't know how to get them from my email to FR or I would have done it. It was also mentioned on Fox last week and a short video was shown. My pics are bloody.

yep it's already started....blame the federal police....not the bad guys...

Stupid friggin people....if you hear gun shots, get the hell out of dodge, fast, find cover or run for your lives. This one of the reasons the Mexican people are loosing their country....too stupid to get out of the line of fire and to fight back.(and of course, corrupt government, just like ours)

The El Universal newspaper reported that police and the suspects(zetas) exchanged gunfire on several occasions.

The chase ended off Boulevard Acapulco and Boulevard Morelos in a popular cruising spot for Reynosa teenagers known as “El Roll”.

Four teenage girls were injured inside their vehicle during the incident. (Cruising in the wrong color SUV!)

The girl’s current condition is not known but El Universal reported that two suspects from the chase were arrested. One of them was injured.
