MOSCOW, March 2 (RIA Novosti) - Washington has told Moscow that Russian help in resolving Iran's nuclear program would make its missile shield plans for Europe unnecessary, a Russian daily said on Monday, citing White House sources.
U.S. President Barack Obama made the proposal on Iran in a letter to his Russian counterpart, Dmitry Medvedev, Kommersant said, referring to unidentified U.S. officials.
Iran's controversial nuclear program was cited by the U.S. as one of the reasons behind its plans to deploy a missile base in Poland and radar in the Czech Republic. The missile shield has been strongly opposed by Russia, which views it as a threat to its national security. The dispute has strained relations between the former Cold War rivals, already tense over a host of other differences.
The leaders have exchanged letters and had a telephone conversation since Obama was sworn into office in January, Kommersant said. The first high-level Russia-U.S. meeting will take place later this week, when Russia Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov meets with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in Geneva.

I was thinking about her today. If the legal actions against Zero were to gain traction, both he and Biden could go down as part of a fraudulent ticket. Pelosi approved his credentials, as I recall, so she could also be in trouble. That takes us to President Pro Tempore of the Senate (Byrd), followed by Hillary. Byrd is getting on in years . . . I don't see Hillary abandoning ship - not just yet.
So, Obie drops the shield, Russia says, OK, we’ll talk to Iran. Iran says, shove it. Russia say, sorry, we tried. Oh, BTW, make sure you don’t put the shield up. A deal is a deal. Obie says, oh, yeah, right, no shield. Thanks.

1. Russia joins with the US to WHATEVER IT TAKES UNDER ALL SCENARIOS to ensure Iran does not ever acquire a nuke weapon.
2. This does not in any way hinder or encumber our development or deployment of a shield in the Pacific.
3. The Russians help us figure out what the hell we do with the PAK nukes if the govt of Pakistan fails...though I think the Russians, Indians and Chinese will have plenty of incentive there to protect their OWN interests and security.
4. The Russians become true anti-proliferation partners, helping us keep an eye on NK, PAK and Chinese proliferation.

OBAMA: Hey. We have a problem with Iran. If we work together, I think we could bring it to a peaceful solution and avoid trouble.
RUSSIA: Hm. Okay...what is the problem, and what do you propose?
OBAMA: Iran is developing nuclear weapons. We think they are getting pretty close to getting one working. Personally, I don’t have a problem with them owning nuclear weapons. After all, YOU own them and WE own them. Who are WE to tell them they shouldn’t have them? In any case, it is the damned Israelis that concern me.
RUSSIA: Go on.
OBAMA: So, I know you have a lot of pull with the Iranians, and I know you are giving them all kinds of help in their development program. Why don’t we work together to convince the Iranians not to develop nuclear weapons?
RUSSIA: Well, first off, they pay us pretty handsomely for our help, which by the way, you didn’t hear me say. Secondly, you are putting anti-missile defense systems near our borders. Why should we help you?
OBAMA: How about this? We pay you money to make up for your lost contracts, and we discontinue deployment of missile defense systems and remove the ones that are already there!
RUSSIA: (Brightening) Really?
OBAMA: Sure. We can’t afford to build it anyway, not with the cuts in our military I am planning...we can talk more about that later, though.
RUSSIA: Hm. What do you want us to do?
OBAMA: Well...use your influence. Tell them we really don’t want to be at odds with them, tell them we can all work together to avoid a situation where the Israelis might drop some ordinance on them.
RUSSIA: That’s it?
OBAMA: Sure. I trust you.
RUSSIA: And how much money is in it for us?
OBAMA: I don’t know. You tell me. Just let me know how much you guys are going to lose in contracts, add some overhead for your trouble, and just send the bill. Hell, our printing presses are running full tilt, we even have to throw buckets of water on the machinery to cool them down. A few hundreds of billions more isn’t going to cause them to seize up! (Laughs)
RUSSIA: Ummm...your money is no good. We need gold.
OBAMA: Welllllll....okay. Some people might raise hell with that, so I’ll just make out like it is for something else. We can do that, though.
RUSSIA: And removing the missile defenses?
OBAMA: Heck, I am going to do it anyway. After we get the “Don’t Ask-Don’t Tell” policy reversed, cut their housing budgets and so on, we won’t be able to get enough people to man the systems, so it will be a no-brainer.
RUSSIA: Wow.
OBAMA: So...do we have a deal?
RUSSIA: (Whispers amongst themselves for a few seconds before responding) We want the gold delivered up front.
OBAMA: That sounds like a reasonable request
RUSSIA: Great! Once we have the gold, we will call the Iranians to convince them to give up their program, but we can’t guarantee anything.
OBAMA: That’s fine. I trust you, and know you will do the right thing.
RUSSIA: Nice doing business with you. Say...could you send us some information on where you plan to cut back your military? That would be a great help to us.
OBAMA: Sure. I’ll put my Chief of Staff on it right away.
The first inbound is squarely on him, then. I expect the survivors to bodily throw him into the pit.
We’ve lost our industrial strength in these last 16 years.

Now, we’re gonna’ lose our military strength.
Before the left is through with us, we will be 3rd world.
and lest there be any question, I mean that when some enemy finally gets up the nerve to launch a missile at CONUS, then it will be Obama’s fault when it impacts.

I am sleptical any of your four points would happen by Russia or this administration. But its good to analyze this carefully and not just knee-jerk so I like your style.
Dumber that you thought? No because Obama will do whatever his Communist mentor’s taught him to do that was right to strip America of its defenses. The one portion of the constitution he has no interest in is “defending the country from [foreign] enemies.”
I was just talking with a co-worker today and I said NO ONE is that dumb...Obama’s economic actions are a deliberate act of sabotage.
This missile defense system decision is really the icing on the cake.
He really is a traitor.

Russia just got finished invading their neighbor and we are asking them for help, I don’t know what to say.
