SOMEBODY at the Sundance Channel must have something against Jane Fonda.
Before Saturday's preview of "33 Variations," her first Broadway performance in 46 years, Vietnam War vets picketed the Eugene O'Neill Theatre, still riled up about her 1972 visit to North Vietnam, where she straddled an anti-aircraft gun and gave her support to the enemy.

Every time I see her mug I get a pavlovian urge to use the head.
I wonder, as a matter of pure speculation, what Jane Fonda would need to do in order to redeem herself.
We know that it is always possible for a Sinner to repent. So I wonder what “repentence” would mean in her context.
She could redeem herself by returning to the scene of the crime, stand in front of that fully functional A/A gun, and have one of her commie heroes pull the trigger... That, would be redemption in this Nam combat Vet's eyes!
I'd even attend the shooting and funeral and doff my cap for her...
Confessing she committed treason and serving a prison term would be a start.

As a Vietnam veteran your Opinion carries with it a great deal of Credibility — certainly with me. When I was a kid, Vietnam veterans were my heroes — I guess you all still are, now that I’m 45.
So, first off, thankyou for your Service, Sir! This life-long Civilian is grateful that people like you defended us and our way of life.
As to Jane Fonda, what she did was terrible and treasonous, and would be very difficult to forgive — particularly as she hasn’t shown much inkling toward being well-and-truly repentent.
So in your view, then, nothing short of her violent suicide at the hands of the NVA would be sufficient for her to make amends?
WOW. Effectively, she is unforgivable, then.
Under the circumstances, that makes sense.
A public apology followed by Seppuku

I heard that she "Got Religion" when she dumped Ted Turner.....but that it didn't last long. To the best of my knowledge she has yet to sincerely express regret (apologize), which is normally the first step.
I spent all of 1970 in country supporting the Swift Boats and didn't suffer directly for her treachery, but I can definately relate to those who did.
There is a story of her visiting the prisoners in Hanoi and walking down the ranks and taking their hands. Some of the prisoners slipped her a piece of paper with their service number on it so that the US Military would know that they had survived and were being held prisoner. She gave the slips to the NVA Colonel after she passed through the ranks which caused our prisoners to endure more beatings/torture.
My father used to tell me that no one was totally worthless - you could always hold them up as a bad example.

Shivers! If she did that, then it’s difficult to see how she could escape charges of High Treason.
So how is it she hasn’t been charged?

She apologized to the Vietnam Vets a couple of years ago.
She has all but recanted her apology during an anti-Bush rally. Good thing the Vets didn’t believe her.
She could break the shackles of leftism and grow up. She could donate 90% of her wealth to the American Legion, but then she'd still have to break the shackles of leftism and grow up.
