McCain says healthcare overhaul possible ["eager to work with" Obama] [Socialist agenda]

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Republican Senator John McCain said on Tuesday night he believed an overhaul of the U.S. healthcare system was possible this year after President Barack Obama called for such a timetable.

In his speech to a joint session of the U.S. Congress, Obama said that due to rising costs, revamping the healthcare system "must not wait, and it will not wait another year."

McCain, who is a member of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, said in an interview after the speech that he felt an accord was reachable this year.

"I do think it's possible, because I think that the inflation associated with healthcare is so severe, as the president correctly stated, it's affecting all of our economy," said McCain, who lost to Obama in last November's presidential election.

"Certainly a lot of us are eager to work with the president on that issue," he said.

Everyone could afford good health care before the Gubmint got into it with medicare. Now many health specialists are little more than pill dispensers, and they charge a fortune. If you want to see a once noble profession go totally down the tubes, just sign on with universal health care. Anyone close to social security age will be denied care, or Dr. Korkoran will be called in.

As bad as Obama is, I'm at least a bit pleased that the fool McCain wasn't elected.

I held my nose and voted for him, but now I'm glad he didn't win as well. At least when the economy tanks and when we're invaded the conservatives can't be blamed (though I'm sure the Obamabots will try).

The one area, and very important area, where I still think McCain would have been the better president is with national defense. Obama is a disaster on that front and I fear for my kids' and future grandkids' futures.
