Obama in perpetual campaign, Barbour says
CNN Political Ticker ^ | February 22, 2009 | Alexander Mooney

(CNN) – It's no coincidence President Obama has traveled to key swing states to push his massive stimulus measure, Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour said Sunday.

Barbour, a former chairman of the Republican National Committee, said Obama's recent travel is an indication that the new president is already running for reelection.

"He's going to those places for a reason," Barbour said on CNN's State of the Union. "I mean David Axelrod, who's his campaign consultant/manager/guru really is one of the brightest, most capable people in American politics. And so this is what we've become accustomed to, the perpetual campaign."

In the last few weeks, the president has visited Florida, Ohio, Indiana, Virginia, and Colorado — all states that voted Republican in the 2004 presidential election but flipped to the Democrat's side in 2008. Obama has also visited Arizona — the home state of his former rival, Sen. John McCain, and a state he'd like to turn blue in 2012.

I hope Michael Steele is paying attention.

Republicans need to learn from this, or we will never take our country back.

"Obama has also visited Arizona — the home state of his former rival, Sen. John McCain, and a state he'd like to turn blue in 2012."

He will do this easily when he gives "citizenship" to all the illegal alien criminals who have invaded our country.

In 1993, Barbour became chairman of the Republican National Committee.

In 1994, during his tenure as RNC chair, Republicans captured both houses of the United States Congress, taking the House of Representatives for the first time in forty years. He has been good for the RNC.

Since 2003 he has kept working on his career as Gov.

I think Barbour’s been a fine governor, I’ve heard of him having ties to lobbyists during his tenure as head of the RNC, but I don’t know enough details of this to know if those ties ever influenced him against conservative positions or principles.

Did you hear about all the problems they had down in Mississippi after Katrina, all the claims that the Fed wasn't doing enough, the demands for more money from the Federal government for the indigent and how racist the recovery efforts were?

NO?

Hum...

Obama in perpetual campaign, Barbour says

Mr Govnah, that is because a legal, and shot-less revolution is underway in this country.

They need to make the changes fast before the regular Americans figure it out and can do any thing besides get thrown in jail for "sedition"

You are just showing your low IQ by not spelling his name correctly. He is the governor of my home state and has done a terrific job. I do not have any idea what state you are from but what has your governor done for the Conservative/Republican cause? Really curious.

We are this country’s only hope for this once great country. The rest of the country does not seem to care what happens as long as they get something for doing nothing.

So true.

It seems whenever this guy gets elected to something, he just has to campaign for something else... I really do worry that it is a sort of mental illness of some sort.

Heaven forbid the man actually try to function in the office to which he was elected... after all, people might actually find out that he really is just socialist scum!

Then again, with the damage he’s poised to cause at the moment, maybe it really is for the better that he be distracted...

Walk a mile in the shoes of us Katrina 'Ground Zero' residents here on the Gulf Coast; not to mention that our entire state bottom to top was in the path of that storm. Bet you'd be singing a different tune about Governor Barbour.

So true! One of my sisters lost her house; literally, nothing left but the slab, and she was 35 miles East of the eye of the storm, One brother, was in his house when the storm went right over it, and had 6 feet of water in the house, but it survived. Another brother, living in Hattiesburg, 65 miles north of the Coast, was without power for six days, and he was glad it was only that long. A sister-in-law, in Jackson, works for a large bank, and was busy for a week, getting power back to ATMs so that people would have access to cash, because, without power, credit cards were useless.

If it hadn't been for the sorry state of the levees in and around New Orleans, and that exacerbated by the corruption of the Democrats on the State Levee Board, there wouldn't have been much of Katrina story out of Louisiana.

Campaigning works best when your running for office.
Not so much when you actually are IN office.
