However, the Kosovo War was extremely successful in achieving its primary purpose: Diverting media and public attention from impeachment, the Cox Report and Juanita Broaddrick.
This was, you'll recall, "Hillary's War". She and Chelsea were embarked on their world tour -- Hillary in her post-Monica snit.
Bill, at a loss about what to do with their gathering political problems and the Balkan Crisis called her when she and Chelsea were in Egypt.
Her advice: Start a war, you ninny.
Well, allow me to try to describe it.
The primary reason the US went to war was because NATO found itself sucked into the the Kosovo conflict which was because there was a prevailing belief - at that time - that if the conflict was not stopped, it would soon spill over into Macedonia.
If that happened then that republic's neighbors would be brought in. Albania would invoke its defense treaties with Turkey, Greece would then become involved and there were worries that there might be repercussions in Cyprus. As such, it was thought that it might be better to become involved too early then too late.
Another point I would make, is that the NATO bombings were a (knee-jerk) reaction to Serbian actions from Dubrovnik to Vukovar, to Sarajevo, to Srebrenica.
