“Steele is sounding idiotic. Conservatism is not defenined by race, age or gender. Young people, Afircan Americans and others do not want to be abused & robbed by liberal govt.”
but that’s his whole point. Until now, conservatives have only reached out to white people in the suburbs.
Steele is correct with his intention, although it shouldn’t be about “Hip Hop”. Poorly defined at best, but he is right. We don’t have to pander to minorities, but we have to make our principles attractive to them. I don’t understand why some folks get so worked up about this. Look at the GOP’s rising stars: Palin, Jindal and Cantor.
Pretty broad brush you’re painting with. A few things:
1. It’s spelled “analog”.
2. “ Caucasian” is capitalized-it’s a proper noun. I’m also at a loss by how “faces” can be “blue blazered”, which is how your post reads
3. Members of the group you disparage INVENTED the digital age (as well as the analog one). You’re welcome.
A question, wouldn’t those blue blazered fat old folks be considered “diverse” by people who aren’t? Since “diversity” by itself is supposed to be good, why wouldn’t the non-blue blazered folks be thrilled to join?
I think he’s yanking my chain.
You are totally right. Bottom line, let us not get deviated from our conservative message. When STEELE bends the conservative message to satsify AFRICAN AMERICANS, then we will have a problem. Who cares, whether the message is spread through HIP HOP or BRITNEY SPEARS.
“But hey...if it works, we will all be cheering.”
He should sign up that comedian Steven Crowder. He’s young, attractive, conservative, and has a way of saying things that make perfect sense without being stick-in-the-mud preachy.
He clearly doesn’t understand that the supposedly non-partisan Rock The Vote, and Hip Hop Caucus, etc are liberal oriented “get out the vote” efforts. They can get some conservative entertainers to contribute their time and energy to such political machines but they won’t impact the agenda of those organizations.
Viacom’s MTV is liberal. Same as Viacom’s CBS.
No he's not. He's concerned with image, not substance. He's selling soap.
And he's proving once again that Barack Obama is his party's standard.
The rest of the world has rejected the junk science that gave us the classification “Caucasian”.
Obama IS soap. He IS Pepsi.
He was marketed as a product, not a candidate. Even today his supporters call him OBAMA(TM), not President Obama.
He may hold the White House but even his supporters don’t call him President.
Secondly, Steele is suggesting embracing a (marginal)culture that promotes crime, drugs, killings and prostitution. You can't square those with conservative principles, and even if the GOP makes a serious attempt at it, the payoff in hip-hop culture votes won't overcome the diminishing ranks of remaining conservatives in the GOP who will finally say ENOUGH! and walk away.
Just think for a minute. If you are a democrat, you get 95% of African Americans, easy 60% latinos with some liberals in college campus and they win elections. In the meanwhile, we republicans need to campaign through out all the rural counties and spend so much money spread through out each state to win elections.
Why should not we chip into some of the urban cities and reduce the democrats margin? Not by liberal ideas but BRINGING out the scared conservatives and repbulicans from the closet.
From what I glance Steele's intention is selling our substance to groups we haven't advertised to succesfully. Capitalism 101.
I can't see anything wrong with that.
Michael, would you settle for some smooth jazz? I don’t really need to see some of these guys trying to rap.
Go for it guys. Don’t for a minute allow me to divert you from your path.
Typical of failing... looking at package instead of at product
**EPIC FAIL**
I know.
I was responding to a poster using it. While I’m not in favor of the term, I didn’t comment directly on that term’s usage—it paled in comparison (no pun intended) to the theme of my response.
Is that the conservative black guy that was making all of those YouTube video’s during the election? If so, I loved that guy. He was posting on FR for a bit...can’t remember his screenname.
