From what I’ve read about his opinions on several issues, I was not especially pleased to see him head up the GOP-worst case scenario, I was afraid he’d be a disaster. I tried not to think that way-didn’t want to be a cynic. Let’s just wait and see, I told myself

Now I see this.

I think he’s hopeless, but for the rest of the GOP-here’s a thought “reaching out” and “bending over” are two different postures.

“We need messengers to really capture that region - young, Hispanic, black, a cross section ... We want to convey that the modern-day GOP looks like the conservative party that stands on principles. But we want to apply them to urban-surburban hip-hop settings.”

Is this satire?

The GOP lost, L-O-S-T, with “Arcane McCain” as the standard bearer.

Does the GOP need an image makeover? Hell yes!

BTW: Don’t blame the customer if they don’t like the product

“This simply cannot be good.”

That was my first thought too LOL. But hey...if it works, we will all be cheering.

I just hope he doesn’t focus so much on the northeast(blue), that he loses sight of the red states that are on the verge of going blue. BTW...I didn’t see Steele make any mention in that article of ‘hip hop’.

“we need to uptick our image with everyone, including one-armed midgets.”

I don't know, Michael. They're pretty hard to reach!

Dear Mr. Steele,

The only campaign that will bring voters to our party is a clear and concise list of objectives, updated each election cycle, and as each are accomplished, they are crossed off and new objectives are listed.

Vote for me and I will do [this.]

Generalities are just future Democrat campaigns waiting to happen. You aren't fighting for the middle class - you are targeting a 20% cut in the size of the Education department this year, 15% cut in HHS next year, and intend on nailing out specific programs.

Get back to me when you're ready to actually campaign - just making a bigger tent for the sake of making a bigger tent means nothing to me.

Steele is sounding idiotic. Conservatism is not defenined by race, age or gender. Young people, Afircan Americans and others do not want to be abused & robbed by liberal govt.

It might just work! Based on the following interviews, it doesn't really seem to be about 'politics' at all.

What is everyone here pissing about? What the hell good are we if we cant have a single congressman in New England?

IMO, its mostly an aesthetic thing, theres plenty of small government conservatives out there, they just can't stand the dominant southern hillbilly veneer (as they see it).

we’re supposed to LOWER (yes, I said LOWER) our message to the subculture?

Like when Mitt Romney chortled, "Who let the dogs out, Roo, roo, roo!" at an MLK event? This strategy is targeting the wrong voting bloc for the wrong reasons.

Please no. I’ve had just about enough of the hip-hop “culture” trying to come off as politically intelligent. Please, no...

If you’re rapping about welfare and ho-slapping your girlfriend, you’re not worthy of political opinion. Sorry.

He’s correct. The party has remained analogue. Just look at some of the posts on this site. You all have got allot of young, talented, energetic and ethnically diverse people within your party....why I am perpetually seeing old, fat, blue blazered caucasian faces (not that there’s anything wrong with that) is beyond me. Especially at the convention. Figure it out people.
