You don’t have to break in. A pair of needle nose
pliers will open the network interface box on the side of
their building. If they have analog service, all you need
is a fax machine, a line cord and a couple of alligator
clips.

I work for the VA - we are constantly reminded that we need to pay any back taxes if we owe them.

Before you make the people honest, you need to make the tax system honest......starting with our Congressmen/women.

The Internal Revenue Service is trying to collect billions of dollars in unpaid taxes from nearly half a million federal employees.”

Trying? So what’s the problem...it’s not like where they work is a big secret! Garnish their wages like they would the rest of us!

I hope you are right. The HR department at this particular large corporation interpretted it differently. This was around 1998, though I doubt that matters much.

Didn’t you hear? Harry Reid says paying taxes in voluntary. He says you don’t go to jail for not paying taxes. You just pay interest charges.

Obama administration openings coming up, if you want to be considered, stop paying taxes.

We know who these federal works are too: the Chief of Staff, Cabinet Members, Democratic members of Congress...

My neighbor used to try to do that, with the grass that is. Been doing yardwork since I can remember, but he wanted to cut my grass his way, and he did sometimes until I called the cops one day. Then I got one of those letters saying, ‘I was just trying to be a good neighbor.’

“According to IRS records, 171,549 current federal workers did not voluntarily pay their federal income taxes in 2007”

Ever hear of withholding?

Perhaps the IRS doesn’t go after them out of fear that they’ll “go postal” on ‘em....

Why doesn’t the federal government just reduce the wages of all of their employees by the amount of payroll and income tax that is due, and then just consider the net wage as exempt income?

The IRS would have so much less to collect, but the government would not be out any money as it wouldn’t be dispersed in the first place.

No chance of not paying.

On top of this, federal retirees are getting $250 each from the spendulous bill.

How exactly is giving money to retirees already drawing a pension going to stimulate anything?

When you decide to clean house, do you walk next door and tell the neighbors how to do it?

Actually, that sounds better. I hate house cleaning.....but I get your point.

I’m glad your husband found a job. The sad thing about VA is that part of the spendulous package that actually cuts any spending - is on medical benefits for military retirees that have serves us for most of their lives. Sick.

I worked as an engineer for the DOD for years. Most of us were rather dedicated and did work to earn our salaries. I think when people complain about government workers, they remember the ones that were lazy and rude. I was trying to call OPM for the 8th time because they havn’et updated my mailing address in about a decade despite my sending them numerous letters about it. Waiting on hold for 10 minutes, then being transfered, then being told they couldn’t find me in the system, then being told I needed to mail a letter about my ‘new’ address change,..... I was saying nasty things about ‘goverment workers’ after that myself!

I hear that. I know how the govt can be. My point was only that there are good and bad everywhere, and we should hope more conservatives would go into govt work and politics. Thank you for your good wishes, and believe me, so am I !
I am so angry they are cutting aid to those who served, and expanding it for those who didn’t. we really are going to have to take a stand, run for office, and fight for these men and women who fought for us so bravely. How can we look them in the eye if we don’t?

We're surrounded by tax cheats who want to raise our taxes!

What a revelation of knowledge!

Now what?...
