The government is considering plans that would lead to thousands more British Muslims being branded as extremists, the Guardian has learned. The proposals are in a counterterrorism strategy which ministers and security officials are drawing up that is due to be unveiled next month.
Some say the plans would see views held by most Muslims in Britain being classed by the government as extreme.
According to a draft of the strategy, Contest 2 as it is known in Whitehall, people would be considered as extremists if:
They advocate a caliphate, a pan-Islamic state encompassing many countries.
They promote Sharia law.
They believe in jihad, or armed resistance, anywhere in the world. This would include armed resistance by Palestinians against the Israeli military.
They argue that Islam bans homosexuality and that it is a sin against Allah.
They fail to condemn the killing of British soldiers in Iraq or Afghanistan.

“Anti-terror code ‘would alienate most Muslims”
Works for me.
“...being branded as extremists... They argue that Islam bans homosexuality and that it is a sin against Allah.”
Mark my words, in the interest of fairness a “Christian” version of this will be used to tag biblical Christians as extremist and possibly terrorists.
How can a group that wants to behead everyone including their sisters be considered NOT alienated???
Actually, most religions make the same argument about homosexuality
How do you alienate people who are already alienated?
Barn door.
Horse.
Already gone.
You read the list, and just when you think the Brits are growing a set, the love that dare not speak its name starts shouting again.
Oh, very well said!
This Labour government just caved in over allowing Geert Wilders to enter the UK because one Lord Ahmed objected so they are hardly likely to get tough with the Islamic 'community'.
This list might look good to conservatives (with the exception of the love that cannot shut up clause)but it will be quietly dropped. They really don't understand the extent of Muslim support for Jihad and expansionism.
Typical Labour half baked proposals.
Anti-terror code ‘would alienate most Muslims’
What does that mean most Muslims are?
