I’m afraid the deal is done. Specter, Collins, and Snowe already voted aye, and these three Dems aren’t going to be the ones to sink the bill.
We fought the good fight and made the Dems own this monstrosity. That’s about the best we can do.

None of them wants to be the 60th vote. The 60th vote owns the consequences, for all of history. Harry Reid made a special arrangment so none of the GOP 3 stooges had to be the 60th vote.

I really don’t think that this bill requires 60 votes to pass. A simple majority will do and they already have that. So it matters not how these Dems vote. But of course they will vote YEA in the end.
They have approx three years and ten months. After that Sarah Palin can sign the bill before her on the Oval office desk that implements substantial corporate and individual tax rate cuts, immediate cessation of all funds to ACORN and like groups, and immediate censuring of Barney Frank, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi.

Just tried all three (again). All I get is that “The voice message is full, good bye”.
Will keep trying, though. Gillibrand will vote how her girlfriend Hillary tells her to anyway. They’ll get their 60 votes and the U.S. will lose our freedom.

Sherrod Brown’s mother died. He may be in transit back to DC. That is what they said this morning, he would come back for the vote and then return for his mother’s funeral.

Waste of time. We’ve done pretty much all we can do, short of marching on Washington.
But, you know we’re never going to do that. I’d say max 10 people will actually show up. Be honest, we’re not going to ‘march on Washington.’
We’ll make our way and re-adjust the best way we can, work around the obstacles. Some will use the advantages of nationalism brings — they’ll be at in the right place at the right time. Some will thrive by quickly working the system. Some will not be that clever. They’ll be the worker bees— and work and work without ever figuring it out. That’s probably me.
I probably don’t have to mention those in perpetual need whose ranks will be astronomical.
Everybody will adjust one way or another. There will be no reference to the past. Nobody will care or remember. It’s just a new reality.

Lovely idea, but how? Even if our guys HAD the balls to do it, the mainstream media would simply spin it as “why is your entire party being obstructionist against helping poor and needy people? Is it your inherent racism or simply your outdated neanderthal values that prompt you into acting so irresponsibly?” THEN, even if our guys COULD cobble together an answer explaining how the RATS are in the process of destroying America, the MSM would simply edit their answers to make them all sound like idiots (hereafter known as the Palin Plan).
Hate to sound so negative... but since November 5th I haven’t had the slightest thing to feel positive about, except that John McCain ISN’T our President (and that’s not enough).
Until we conservatives are willing to help elect the lesser of two evils we are doomed to living with the worser of those two evils. When you have an election where there is no runoff and one of the candidates is going to be elected then not voting or writing in someone who has no chance of being elected makes any bitching and moaning you do after the fact just wasted energy.
Think of where we are today. And then think of why not enough of us could not get together to nominate someone other than John McCain. Maybe it was your stand on abortion, or maybe the 2nd amendment, or maybe health care, or perhaps border security, or whatever. It doesn't matter now. There wasn't a single candidate on the Republican side that would have been as bad for America as what we have now. Of all the candidates it was very clear that McCain would be the worst possible nominee, but because so many of us let one issue keep them from backing an otherwise superior candidate we ended up nominating the last man standing, regardless of who it was or what he stood for.
We need to view this experience as a learning opportunity.
Brown is due back on the Senate floor at 10:30PM ET, what a sham.
It will be interesting to see if the new RNC chairman will put his money where his mouth is.
