U.S. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, a Missouri Democrat. Regardless of party, we all cast our votes with one hand and crossed our fingers with the other.
Largest spending bill in US History and they don't have the time to read the bill. Unfracking believable with leadership like this its doomed to failure.

All from Southern states, except Peterson. Must be from a rural district... Yep, about 1/3, or a bit more, of the state, in the West adjacent to the Dakotas.

I'm sure their heart was to vote for it, but since they had the votes they voted no so they can go back to their districts and get their picture taken and be on the front page declaring they were against the bill, so they can get those stupid voters to vote for them again down the road.
To: El Gato
All from Southern states,Oops, meant Southern and Western. And you can see even though he's from Minnesota, he really fits the "western" model, being from a very rural district on the west side of Minnesota.

That's true. Lived in his district for many years; not a sinister person, but like so many others, a Zero on principle. To me Wayne Gilchrest was the common image of what the Republicans have become.

Or they had prior permission because their seats are in conservative areas and they were allowed to vote no in hopes of preserving those seats. Rahm Emanuel got them elcted by running conservative dems for those seats, a yes vote on this could get them unelected next time.

Lipinski is my Congresscritter. He inherited his seat from his father, who after 10 terms won the primary against token opposition and then resigned. Under Illinois law, that permits the Illinois Democratic Committee to choose who gets his spot on the ballot. After due consideration they gave it to his son, who at the time was a professor of Political Science at the University of Tennessee.
My district encompasses part of the City of Chicago and part of the western and southwestern suburbs. The latter makes the district somewhat conservative than you’d expect a Democratic district to be. Not voting for this bill will not be unpopular in his district, although the Chicago portion of it probably would be closer to prefering it.

Of course the dems in the VA delegation all slavishly, submissively, cravenly and predictably voted “yes,” just like our two shining stars of senators (Jim Webb and Mark Warner) will when it comes for a vote there, too. I’m amused by both our senators who said they’d be “independent voices” on Capitol Hill. In his two years in the Senate, I can’t think any single time in which Webb voted against the wishes of his party. I have every reason to believe Warner will be the same way.

What’s really sad is that even if he legitimately believed in that vote, as long as he votes for the Democrats to organize the body, his very presence in the House as one of them empowers the radical left. All Conservative Democrats should switch parties or be defeated by Republicans, period. They’re not doing us any favors otherwise.

Yeah for my freshman congressman, Griffith. He should be a Republican, but Republicans can’t win this district, too many union members and yellow dogs.
