Sen. Corker puts Hold on Porklus vote
CNN | 2/13/09

Posted on 02/13/2009 4:18:09 AM PST by pabianice

Per the crawl this morning on CNN, Sen. Corker has put a Hold on Porkuls, stating that he wants a chance to read it before voting. Bill has reportedly swollen from 800 to 1,500 pages as Dems keep putting-back everything the Senate removed.

Saw crawl as I was watching news about the ColganAir crash at 5:00AM.

Come on, Senator Corker! This is the first time I can remember this “moderate” senator of mine showing any sense or spine. He gave a pretty good speech against Porculus a few days ago. Maybe there is still a plan to kill this in the works............We’ll know soon.

We can’t spoil the Messiah’s President’s Day signing, now can we? Oh yes we can.

I heard somewhere yesterday that he wanted to do the signing on prime time television. When are we going to be required to have his photo hanging in our home?

The heat’s obviously on, and Corker is buying time, both for the public and Specter, who may be having serious qualms about his vote in light of his rapidly diminishing prospects for re-election in 2010. Maybe if Specter is forced to mull the consequences of his treachery for a few more days, he may decide that backstabbing the Rats would be a better legacy choice right now than backstabbing his own party.

Does the Senate still do a cloture vote that requires 60 to move to final vote? If so, that’s our only chnace.

“You mean somebody decided to actually read this thing! How novel.”

As you so correctly put it HOW NOVEL. Only I think this piece of pork is a Novel meaning, “a book”. I don’t think “War and Peace” was this long? I pray that more reps and senators get some sense and actually take the time to read this Novel, this piece of rotten fiction, and VOTE NO!

G-D save the USA!

Yeah, but there are some obscure Senate rules that give individual Senators the ability to delay, if not entirely scuttle a vote.

Regardless, Specter just found out yesterday exactly how much trouble he is in with the Pennsylvania State GOP, and Corker may be buying enough time for him to stew about his future prospects in the 2010 primary.

I saw some cheaply framed Obama photos in Walmart just the other day. They have a small tray at the bottom of the pic for placing several votive candles.

The "stimulus" bill is taking a back seat to the tragic plane crash that killed 50 people overnight.

The vote should definitely be postponed today.

What are We The People going to do if it passes?

Its already been shown for the most part it will not make any improvement in the job market anytime soon and I personally do not want my children and their children paying for this.

All the more reason to remove Obama, its time to put up or shut up about him even being legally eligible to sign this bill.

Or have we forgotten?

And we need to protect those that are fighting to expose the fraud in the Whitehouse, like Orly Taitz.

Overall our efforts are too soft, we are not pushing the boundary of free speech. We must acknowledge the fact that we must cross the line.

I mean, the Democratic Party NEEDS that money, and they need it NOW! Just think how many generations of patronage they can buy with that!!

Limos and gold-plated bathrooms for community organizers cost a LOT of money, doncha know!

True and I'll be the first to stand up an applaud my Senator if those are indeed his motivations. However, after thirty some odd years of following politics I've become very cynical, particularly with Senators. I watch what they do, not what they say....and that goes double for Builder Bob....

You're gonna get effed, just like the people of Chicago were effed by Mayor Daley selling the parking meter franchise to some foreign company for the next 6 or more decades. He needed quick cash to pump for the Olympics. So, gee, now we've been informed that that foreign company is raising parking meter rates ALL OVER THE CITY (where in many places it was 25 cents/hour, 8AM to 9PM or earlier) to between $2 and $3.50 per hour TWENTY FOUR HOURS A DAY.

My current faith lies that our sweet little hot governor is going to politely say NO to the federal handout of this porkulous bill for the most part, she may accept some only if its not a crackwhore bill that forces the state of Alaska to keep pumping money into.

My big wish is to see Alaska announce its 10th Amendment rights of sovereignty.
