... In one of the most shocking cases of courtroom graft on record, two Pennsylvania judges have been charged with taking millions of dollars in kickbacks to send teenagers to two privately run youth detention centers.

"I've never encountered, and I don't think that we will in our lifetimes, a case where literally thousands of kids' lives were just tossed aside in order for a couple of judges to make some money," said Marsha Levick, an attorney with the Philadelphia-based Juvenile Law Center, which is representing hundreds of youths sentenced in Wilkes-Barre.

Prosecutors say Luzerne County Judges Mark Ciavarella and Michael Conahan took $2.6 million in payoffs to put juvenile offenders in lockups run by PA Child Care LLC and a sister company, Western PA Child Care LLC. The judges were charged on Jan. 26 and removed from the bench by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court shortly afterward...

BTW, the WOD was started by Democrats who wanted a new reason to send blacks to prison/plantations.

The PA Supreme Court is equally, if not more corrupt.

In PA we’ve just about reached the point of anarchy. We can’t trust the Judiciary, the Executive Branch (including the Attorney General—who is a Republican and CORRUPT), or the Legislature.

One or two more instances of public corruption, and the powder keg will blow.

“Privatized” prisons are going up everywhere. This type of corruption might be more common than people realize.

Make everything a crime, make lots of criminals, send the criminals to work for 10 cents an hour for your corporate buddies.

“Make everything a crime, make lots of criminals, send the criminals to work for 10 cents an hour for your corporate buddies.”

It also happened in the gold old days thats. For instance, if you read about how some of the railroads were built in some southern jurisdictions in the decades after the civil war you’ll see that many were largely built with cheap convict labor. Coincidentally people were getting sent away for very minor things. Loitering could get you locked up in some instances.

In general I favor privatizing governmental functions but not this one. Too many potential conflicts of interest.

That kid didn't deserve what the corrupt Democrat judge did to her. And it torques me that he's getting off so light.

That said... she could use some more wilderness time.

From the article:

"The criminal charges confirmed the advocacy groups' worst suspicions and have called into question all the sentences he pronounced.

Hillary Transue did not have an attorney, nor was she told of her right to one, when she appeared in Ciavarella's courtroom in 2007 for building a MySpace page that lampooned her assistant principal.

Her mother, Laurene Transue, worked for 16 years in the child services department of another county and said she was certain Hillary would get a slap on the wrist. Instead, Ciavarella sentenced her to three months; she got out after a month, with help from a lawyer."

Three months confinement for joking about an assistant school principal. Now imagine what Obama democRATS, have in store for conservatives, Free Republic members, and anyone else who disagrees with them, if they can somehow manage to impose their "Unfairness Doctrine" on America.

Now that the shock and awe is over, Nobody will bat an eye when those opposed to Obama's "New Marxist Nation order" are sentenced to one of Obama's re-education "emergency housing" camps, after they appear in court for such things as speaking out in public against the One, illegal protest, etc.

Now that’s just nonsense. Democrats want those kinds of drugs legalized, so they can be the pusher and collect taxes on them, plus have absolute control over more masses of sheeple who will get addicted to the “legalized” drugs.

In Texas in the 80’s, there were school counselors getting paid “commissions” on sending kids to treatment centers.

The kids they showed on TV looked white to me. I doubt these crooks discriminated against anybody if it interfered with their bribes.
