WASHINGTON – With thousands of fraud investigations under way, the FBI is considering shifting agents away from counterterrorism work to help sort through the wreckage of the financial meltdown.
FBI Deputy Director John Pistole told the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday that the bureau may reassign some of the positions that were reallocated to anti-terrorism work after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.
Such a move would be a further sign of the government breaking with the Bush administration's priorities, which pledged to assign every available resource to averting another terrorist attack.

If the FBI is going to get serious on fraud investigations, first they should arrest all the bankers and financial con artists who gave to the Democratic Party and Obama’s presidential campaign.
Then arrest most chairmen of the House and Senate, and all of Obama’s top advisors and presidential appointees, nominees, and Cabinet officials.
That should cut fraud crimes down about 95%.
Meanwhile, back at Al Qaeda headquarters ...

The timing is especially good, with Hussein Obama sucking up to known terrorists like Ahmadinejad in Iran (training and equipping murderers killing Americans in Iraq, planning on wiping Israel off the map, and building nuclear weapons with which to terrorize the non-Muslim world, etc.), closing Gitmo and bringing terrosists to the U.S., etc.
I see a suitcase nuke (thanks to the nutcase "suit" in our White House) in our future.
Hopefully, if that time comes, it will be used on the liberal democrat and "independent" idiots in D.C. (and their RINO cohorts), along with the gaggle of nameless/faceless bureaucrats and Jack-Booted-Thugs, responsible for harassing, terrorizing, and in some cases, murdering, innocent men, women, and children (and don't forget Randy Weaver's dog).
Then, we can look at the bright side of being able to start over and re-make our government and country as the Founding Fathers intended.

Name one single thing the FBI has accomplished in the past 40 years. Ignore the countless errors and missed opportunities....that would take too much bandwidth.

You're right - If the FBI would go after the right white-collar criminals, this would be a good move. Pelosi/Obama/Reid are guilty of fraud, and more, and they are a much greater danger to the United States than some pathetic terrorists whose dream in life is to die killing a few hundred or a few thousand women and children. As terrible as the next major terrorist attack against our families will be (and after 7 years of domestic safety under Bush, just about the only thing he got right, it will be Obama's fault), the TARP/Bailout/TARP2 fiasco will do even more damage than the most successful terrorist plan imagined by bin Laden and Ayers combined.
