Dr. Alma Aguado (D), a physician in San Antonio announced this week she has her eye on a U.S. Senate seat for 2010. With Republican Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson's campaign for governor underway, Aguado stated her intentions of running for Texas Senator (snip)
Expansive sex education for students, mandatory Texas Futile Care Law education for the elderly, and bipolar screening for high school students are just a few of the initiatives Aguado seeks to implement. Aguado wants to promote legislation to teach students about human sexual intercourse, abstinence, contraception, reproductive health, emotional relations and other topics related to sexual behavior. (snip)
As a physician, it is Aguado's nature to care for others, so the decision to run for Senator is expanding that characteristic to a higher level by propelling Texas into another plane. This doctor, business owner and single mother of two, believes legislation needs to be steered in a new direction. She is ready to lead Texas on a new course.

What is the “Futile Care law” is that where if someone is elderly or your life is otherwise deemed worthless by the libs that you don’t get urgent/expensive medical care ?

*Whew* for a while there I thought that could be a hot Senate race.
She looks like one of those people on the season premieres of American Idol who can’t even emit normal sounds, prompting Randy to pound the desk in laughter and Paula to slide under the table altogether.

Well, here's a political statement. This painting of this doctor is named after a "pollutant" coming from a cigarette. Which one? Tar? Nicotine? Soot? Some Benzene or something like that?

No, "Carbon Dioxide."
I kid you not.

I want to know about the Futile Care Law, too. I am 57. I have been working since I was 14 and paying into Social Security for 43 years. I am not going to get my money's worth out of Social Security and now, even though I will be paying heavily for Socialized Medicine, they will be denying me care due to my age?? This is NOT the America I grew up in and is not the America that my father almost gave his life for. Tell me, where can I live that will care about my contributions and reward me for a lifetime of hard work??

The Party Primaries in March 2010 are shaping up to be very interesting. The Senate seat will draw candidates in both parties hoping for the nomination and the Gov. race on the Republican side will be a knock down drag out affair.
Already some democrats are lining up and putting themselves into the mix for the Senate nomination. For the democrats they include Mayor White, Houston; former Comptroller John Sharp. For the Republicans they include: State Sen. Florence Shapiro, R-Plano, Republican Railroad Commissioners Michael Williams and Elizabeth Ames Jones and former Secretary of State Roger Williams, also a Republican.
I think the Democrats have basically abandoned the Gov. race but I did hear yesterday that Kinky is exploring a run for the nomination as a democrat this time.
Texas will have the campaign cash flowing come primary time. Talk about a stimulus package we’ll have it. LOL

Kinky needs to stick to being an Independent, and let voters know he is serious about running this time. Last time, people thought it was just a publicity stunt. Our only two other choices so far seem to be Perry and Hutchison...blech!
To: ravingnutter
I don’t think it matters much in the governors race as the democrats seemed to have backed out of the gov race to focus on the Senate nomination or at least the big name democrats have.

Maybe so, but I am still in the same postion...there is no way I am voting in the Democrat column, so Kinky's out and the other two choices are also RINOs at best. I do know that I want that con-man Perry to lose. I hope that a true conservative will step up to the plate soon.

I know a year can be a lifetime in politics but I believe it's down to Perry or KBH as the next Gov. I don't see any other republicans getting in the primary with enough support to win it and I believe the democrats have ceded the race to the GOP. Just my take at this time.

For the Republicans [US Senate primary] they include: State Sen. Florence Shapiro, R-Plano, Republican Railroad Commissioners Michael Williams and Elizabeth Ames Jones and former Secretary of State Roger Williams, also a Republican.
I would recommend every one of these except Michael Williams keep their current seat rather than leave an opening for a D. Go Michael Williams for Senate.
We are still in need of conserative candidates for Gov. and Lt. Gov. Any takers? (Patterson for Lt. Gov. would be nice.)
