Fox News Producer Aaron Bruns arrested on child porn charges

(video of Aaron Burns)

TVNewser is reporting that Fox News Channel producer Aaron Bruns has been arrested and charged with one count of possession of child pornography. A Fox News spokesperson told TVNewser, “We are aware of the arrest and he is currently suspended without pay.”

Bruns has been with FNC in the Washington, D.C. bureau for over six years. He was an embedded producer with the Hillary Clinton campaign last year.

FishbowlDC further reports that Bruns’ was previously arrested on charges of distributing child porn in 1999. Fox News told TVNewser that his criminal record did not surface as he was hired in 2002, one year before Fox instituted background checks.

We usually end with a clever line here, but there’s nothing funny about this. All we’ve got to say is, if true, hang him high.

It’s not like he can’t meet and “get lucky” with women. I just never been able to understand this.

Sick and stupid. Never a good combination. Although in some ways sick and smart is worse for the rest of us, he might not have gotten caught.

I haven't seens the deatils yet so I can't be so quick to pronounce him guilty. Remember this: Anyone who owns a computer and accesses the Internet could be found guilty of such charges... all it takes is the presence of one photo, which could arrive into your spam folder (but still be found on your hard drive even after emptying the spam folder) via email.

We should all be wary of jumping to conclusions until at least some of the facts are in... then, let the chips fall where they may.

“distributing” doesn’t likely mean he received it, does it?

Very true. However, note that we was arrested for distributing child porn when he was in college and dropped out due to it.

As the nutroots crow about this, they may want to note FOX hires many liberals including, including this sicko Burns who gave money to a liberal George Soros group: “America Coming Together”:
http://www.newsmeat.com/fec/bystate_detail.php?zip=22201&last=Bruns&first=Aaron

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/America_Coming_Together

America Coming Together (ACT) was a liberal, political action, 527 group dedicated to get-out-the-vote activities. ACT did not specifically endorse any political party, but mostly worked on behalf of Democratic candidates. It was the largest 527 group in 2004 and was planning to be involved in future races. The group was primarily funded by Peter Lewis, George Soros, and labor unions, especially the Service Employees International Union, and was led by Steve Rosenthal, a former political director of the AFL-CIO.
In the last three weeks before the 2004 presidential and congressional elections, ACT planned on funding over 12 million phone calls to targeted voters and having canvassers hand-deliver 11 million pieces of literature at targeted doorsteps. On Election Day, ACT had projected to have 45,000 paid canvassers in the battleground states and spent over $10 million on Election

sexual perversion is everywhere. I wouldn’t assume that this Fox guy is a conservative. That channel is more liberal than it is given credit for.

The biggest surprise is that Olbermann was not the first cable news person found with child porn.

True, but that's not the incident he was arrested for this time. I don't even know if he was convicted the first time or not.

I agree that it doesn't look good for him, but I'll still reserve judgement until I at least hear some of the evidence against him... I wouldn't put anything past the new administration when it comes to destroying enemies, and I would hate to be an unwilling accomplice by yelling GUILTY at the mere mention of someone being charged for something.

Me too, but that wouldn't stop evidence from being turned up during a forensics exam of your hard drive. Having been involved with computer security for 30 years I have always seen this as a surefire way to jail an enemy... all it takes is an anonymous tip and followup by a willing justice department.

Child porn is the one crime where 99% of the people in this country are willing to bypass the trial phase of the process and immediatly jail anyone who is simply charged. I see this as a very dangerous road to take as a society.

MICHIGAN NEWS BRIEFS
Detroit Free Press (MI) - Thursday, August 26, 1999
Author: M.L. ELRICK; Associated Press; DAWSON BELL

EXCERPT

Ex-student guilty in Net porn case
A former University of Michigan student will serve three years’ probation for transmitting child pornography over the Internet.

Aaron Bruns , 19, pleaded guilty in July to charges he distributed or promoted photos of children in sexually abusive situations.

The photos were transmitted over the Internet from his personal computer in his dorm room.

The judge placed Bruns of Lima, Ohio, on probation last Thursday under the Holmes Youthful Trainee Act, which means his conviction will be expunged if he complies with the conditions of probation.

Bruns was a freshman when he was arrested March 18 after his Internet activities were monitored by Florida law enforcement officials.

Campus officers traced the origins of the pornographic materials to Bruns ‘ personal computer in his South Quad residence hall.

Detectives raided Bruns ‘ dorm room, seized his computer system and found 6,000 pornographic images of children stored on the hard drive.

Bruns dropped out of college and returned to his Ohio home.

Anybody that had a nude photo of Tracy Lords could be charged with possessing child porn.

And forwarding the jpeg of that underage porn star could be construed as ‘distributing’.

Sexual molestation of children is worse than murdering them, because at least with murder, the victims don’t have to live with the aftermath.

By all means, make sure he has a competent defense, try him, and, if convicted, throw him in with the gen pop.

Now, some might say that’s cruel, given that other prisoners despise child molesters, but like I said previously, child sexual abuse is worse than murder, IMO, so I don’t see why these people should be protected.

I spent 12 years of my life walking on egg shells are fearing sleeping in my own bed because of a stepfather who felt his job was to either beat me or force me into sex acts and a mother who took her husband’s side over her only daughter.

While I do not blame my life as an adult and the issues it’s raised on them; after all I’m old enough to be responsible and make my own decisions, I still have to deal with those 12 years everyday of my life.

It invades a person like nothing else, just about every fiber of your being.

People who abuse children should rot in prison for life, they give a life sentence and should receive one in turn.

Yes, because what they have done amounts to destroying the lives of those children. I can't (or don't want to) imagine. Pure evil!

Most states have an age 14-15-16 where the crime goes from pedophilia to statutory rape and some include a grandfathered common sense clause, IE a 18yr old isn’t committing sexual abuse for sleeping with his willing 16yr old girlfriend.

But that isn’t the subject here.

In this case we are talking about child porn where the age of consent is 18 and should remain at 18. Perhaps exceptions for a child of 16(arguable age) giving nude pics to a boyfriend/girlfriend over 18.

Having an exception is a slippery slope. If a 17yr old has a 19yr old boyfriend that’s one thing, but what about a 16yr old pressured into taking nude pictures by a 50yr old? Most people believe that would and should remain illegal. There is no simple answer to this.

Bunch of idiots over where this article has been picked up at Reddit.com who are mosly saying it's Fox News that is the perv. Predictable.

http://www.reddit.com/r/reddit.com/comments/7wehs/fox_news_producer_aaron_bruns_arrested_on_child/p> A typical comment there:

What do you expect of Faux, corrupt is as corrupt does. They should go into the FN building and inspect their entire computer network and laptops. I bet they would find more than the usual bedbugs there. I'm going to go give them a piece of my mind.

From the link posted below: This is the second time Bruns has been arrested for possessing vile images. In July 1999, Bruns, then 19, pleaded guilty in Michigan (where he was enrolled in college) to distributing child pornography over the Internet. He was sentenced to three years probation. Bruns was collared in the earlier case after a Florida law enforcement official discovered his illicit online activities. When police raided Bruns's University of Michigan dorm room, they discovered about 6000 pornographic images of children on his computer's hard drive.

WTF?????? How did he get a job with Fox after having been arrested for this in 1999? Why was he not listed as a sex offender after 1999? Sick, sick.
