Was going out to local Walmart in Norman when I heard this on the radio and came back home. They have parts of the Northwest Expressway in OKC closed down as well as I-35 N of OKC.
Details Live on The Oklahoman site.
Weather is perfect for bad weather and it is headed to Stillwater in Payne County.
Eyeballing the storms up here in Wichita. They’re exhibiting a slight wander northward towards me.
That and the SPC changed the forecast to include us in the tornado/hail threat.
New storm threat forming west of OKC right now. Schools around the metro on lockdown due to storms. They were showing damage earlier in OKC. 15th and I-35 north — tornado on the ground which is north of the city. Rain wrapped tornado.
HI — my mother lives in Moore, and my aunt in Midwest City.
The last two big tornadoes missed my mom by a block or two.
What are those areas like — can’t get through on the phone
tornado watch all the way to Abilene
The storms look to be spreading out as they head north. There are at least three storms now going through the area. Where I live in Norman on the east side, it is sunny but the sky to the west looks horrible.
They are showing these storms hearing north along I-35 on both sides. That means headed right your way.
Tornado in downtown Edmond now according to Channel 4, OKC.
there is a nasty line of red in the area on radar.

We’ve had snow since yesterday and the winds were really blowing. That’s causing the tornadoes in your area. It’s still snowing and blowing so these storms are going to last for at least another day.
I live in E. Norman where the sun is shining. I would say East Moore and Midwest City have the same type of weather. The storms look to be west of I-35 and the first tornado area has moved north of OKC.
There are no tornado warnings in Norman, MWC, or Moore right now.
Waco under a watch too. Prayers for Oklahoma.
Prayers up for our OK. neighbors! We are waiting on the storms in Texas.
thankee
Cleveland is in the watch area for bad weather as there are more storms coming up from Lawton. The storms are heading west of our County right now but we can hear the Thunder. Skies look horrible to the west.
Looks to be north of I-40 for the most part of storms that have already moved through. All we have had is sprinkles here.
More storms forming to the SW coming up out of Lawton. Showing damage right now on TV.
Have a friend who lives in Edmond. I visited over Christmas and found it to be a beautiful town....would be great to move there someday.
hope everyone is okay.
Hang in there and stay safe!
WOW! We were supposed to get storms during the night but we didn’t have any rain. I am watching the TV and the storms look horrible to the north and west of Norman.
Reporting softball size hail and now have someone trapped in a car by power lines.
I-40 and Morgan Road west of OKC has a large lowering right now. Rain wrapped wall cloud.
This is so strange as we still have sun.
OBAMA’S FAULT!!!!!
Thanks for the link.
Edmond is really pretty.
Everyone is okay as far as being reported. They are reporting now there is heavy damage in parts of OKC and north. Not sure what part of Edmond got hit but will let you know when I find out. Western side of Edmond they just announced. More storms coming up and they expect a new storm to lower west of OKC.
Stay safe over there. Weather headed toward T-town?
I can see three supercells with major-league hook echoes on the radar.
Thanks!
I live about two miles from the National Weather Center/Storms Prediction Center in Norman and we have the new technology in warning sirens that will blast you out of your home or a deep sleep. They expected something yesterday but no storms materialized.
Went out and looked and to the west the sky is really dark and like it is night.
a top side view of the storms passing htru

Saratoga Farms area hit in Edmond. Not sure where that is. It also hit the Country Club there according to reports.
These guys are chasing the storm here:

I am having a bit of a problem getting it to load..but it usually loads just fine for those interested.
The storm heading towards Stillwater has a MASSIVE hook echo on the radar. The other ones are signficant looking - the one that just went thru Edmond and the one just WSW of OKC. Head for cover if you are not there already if you are NE of these storms.
Obama lied people died???
Looks to be headed to Stillwater now and not your way. If it goes up the turnpike, we usually get at least rain in Norman but we are getting zero rain and still have sun. This looks to be going west of Tulsa over in the Payne area for now. More storms moving up from Lawton.
Mercy Hospital has moved their patients to the center of the Hospital which is in N. OKC.
One of them has a huge wall cloud near Yukon they are talking about now. The wall cloud looks huge on the TV and is lowering as I watch. A lot of it is rain wrapped.
It is pretty much several miles west of Norman on the other side of I-35.

Storm downs power lines, causes damage in Oklahoma
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090210/ap_on_re_us/severe_weather
OKLAHOMA CITY Severe storms knocked down power lines and damaged structures Tuesday afternoon in central Oklahoma.
Tornado sirens were activated, and television news video appeared to show a tornado and debris in the air in a rural area. School children were being kept in locked-down schools until the storm passed.
An intersection in northwest Oklahoma City was closed as power lines were down and debris, including glass, was in the road. ..
It hit a Chuckie Cheese and Fazolis about 1.5 miles from where I live, pretty close!
Sounds bad. Thank you for the update.
National Weather Service confirmed one tornado near Edmond, in a rural and residential area. It didn’t immediately confirm if more tornadoes struck the area.
They just said on the TV that the storm headed for Stillwater is looking worse. There are now more storms heading that way including one near Minco and Ft Cobb west of the OKC area. Baseball size hail in Guthrie five minutes ago.
Keep your heads down Okies. Jeez it’s early in the year to be starting tornado season.
WOW! I just saw those pictures. There are more storms headed your way.
I sure wish I was there chasing those storms!
Not good. Stay safe.
Saying a lot of damage in NW OKC into Edmond and a command post being set up in Edmond. Broadway and Waterloo — power lines down, homes damaged, and gas line damaged. 14,000 customers without power in Edmond.
Doing home by home searches now.
Schools still on lockdown in some areas. Thunder is getting louder here.
EMSA has made a lot of runs.
Do most of the schools have basements?
Oh, no. We have good friends in Edmond. I’ll say a prayer for their safety as well as everyone affected. Will call them when they get home from work.
A lot of storm chases here. I should have guessed something was up when I was out this morning and saw the storm chaser SUV’s at the gas station.
This is the place to be for a storm chaser — very early to have thise kind of damage from a tornado. All the TV stations have their own storm chasers.
No schools that I know of have basements and most homes do not because of our ground. They move students into the center of the schools where they are no windows.
It’s February.. they’re out chasing kind of early in the year, aren’t they?
Global warming? right? lol ;-)
It’s that way here too.
Saw on the Oklahoman message board that OSU was in lockdown, along with a lot of local schools betwee OKC and Stillwater. Golfball sized hail in Payne County.
