Bangladesh seeks compensation from developed nations on climate change

DHAKA (Xinhua) - Bangladesh today sought compensation from the developed world for being victim of the adverse impact of climate change.

"We're not polluter but we are victim of climate change. We want compensation from the developed nations that are polluting the atmosphere through emission of greenhouse gas," said Bangladesh's State Minister for Foreign Affairs Hasan Mahmud.

He said this when meeting with visiting Danish Minister for Climate and Energy Connie Hedegaard who is touring different developing countries vulnerable to the climate change ahead of the UN conference on the climate change to be held in Copenhagen in December this year.

On the Bangladesh's concern, Hedegaard told Mahmud that the issue of compensation will be raised at the world forum.

Hedegaard praised Bangladesh's policy to integrate environmental aspect into national development plan so that the country could adapt with adverse impact of the climate change.

Earlier, at a conference on climate change held here Tuesday evening, the Danish minister said any solution to the perils of climate change will require global cooperation as climate change recognizes no borders, knows no cultural or political divides.

In addition to ongoing assistance to Bangladesh, Denmark committed additional funds of 120 million Taka (about $1.71 million) to help Bangladesh combat climate change, said Hedegaard

Denmark now provides more than 2 billion Taka (about $28.6 million) assistance each year to Bangladesh.

Wow...the inevitable effect of liberlism’s ethos of victimhood...I’ve just never seen it on an entirely national basis.

We're not polluter but we are victim of climate change.

And so, in what way, dear Bangladesh, are you the "victim" of this so-called "climate-change"? Can you provide solid, concrete proof?

Or are we being bam-boozled into handing over money for a sob story?
"Encore!", I say. "Encore! Bravura performance!"

What about Third World cooking fires, slash and burn agriculture, deforestation, livestock emissions, emissions from rotting manure and vegetable matter, 19th Century smokestack industries.

Ah, me! Thank you for my chuckle of the day! The mental image of that, and I literally burst out laughing.
Nice (and appropriate) turn of phrase!

I think we should tell them to stow it or we'll flush all our toilets at once and drown their stinking swamp of a country.

Shouldn’t be a big surprise. The Redistribution Of World Wealth has always been the reason so many countries in the UN are pushing climate change legislation.

This is a most perplexing turn of the total situation.

I asking am therefore for concrete and good evidence that I (myself in person) have had such a catastphropy upon the peoples of Bangladesh and not the from Iinda or China in fault.

Soon in emails of this you will be seen. Yes? (I'll forgo the /s tag)

They are Muslims, and were formerly called East Pakistan, before West Pakistan became just plain Pakistan & East Pakistan became Bangladesh...before that, they were a part of India that didn't play well with others.

They wanted independence as a Muslim state, and they got their wish.

Let them ask their fellow Muslims, especially the rich Arab ones, who leave them sitting in trees with their hands out to The West during & after each monsoon, year, after year, after year.
