As long as you dont get fooled into thinking Andrea Mitchell is an objective reporter, listening to her can actually be very instructive. Floating somewhere between the journalistic and governmental sectors, and with her extensive contacts, Mitchell serves as something of the unofficial spokeswoman of the center/left inside-the-Beltway establishment. Want to know what's been said in bien-pensant Washington? Just listen to Andrea.
Mitchells appearance on Morning Joe today was a perfect illustration of the phenomenon. Making the case for the Obama stimulus plan, Mitchell would at times cite the arguments of others, at others speak in her own voice before pulling herself back and again relying on third-party thinking. Along the way, she did make one demonstrably incorrect assertion, that very few economists, right, left or center, would disagree that money needs to be poured in.

Mitchell: pretty much everyone’s for pouring money in ping to Today show list.
Except hers. Thats the key to understanding leftwingnuts.
she is the cutest ugly girl i have ever seen
I heard her this morning and didn’t think she sounded very sure of herself—just parroting the line.
So now my capital is on a table, and “economists” get to vote on what happens to it? I guess I didn’t get the memo.
She is wrong about one thing. We could do tax cuts and adjust sarbanes oxly (sp?) and not cost any money. That is the difference between the right and left.
Ditz is simply repeating what her husband told her.
She has nice hair.
Sorry, that’s the best I could come up with.
Oh, and she’s married to a troll.
She is the Joker’s first wife..he carved her up pretty bad.
I would add the 250 economists who signed onto an ad taken out two weeks ago would disagree with Andrea Mitchell and Barry. One of my son’s Professors happens to be among that group. Free markets and gov’t intervention in those markets never produces good results.
I might add the economist who the MSM keep citing is Paul Krugman (who won a Nobel you know), and he is a tool. He doesn’t know squat about how bad Keynesian economic theory is, those who have actually studied it know what a piece off garbage it is.
GMTA: the FinkelBlog item cites to that ad.
Mitchell’s Greenspan without the Briefcase.
Well there’s her big mouth, too. And she’s kinda troll-like herself.
And her daughter is Dana Bash.
Also known as the Zimbabwe Option...
There are only two types of professions that can be consistently wrong and still employed: weathermen and economists.
This Stickittous Bill is not a done deal.
We can stop Obama and the other Devil Worshipin', Satanic Inspired, Communists from passing this. And, when we do, we will sap Obama of any confidence in getting anything done. If we don't he will be so pumped up that he will continue to pass, with the collusion of congress, more legislation and bills that will further erode your rights.
Take two (2) actions, today, that will have a powerful impact on defeating this bill that will Stick It To US.
Contact 10 Senators by phone today.
That is, you need to get to a human being and make it clear that you DO NOT WANT this Stickittous Bill to pass.
Tell the assistant to the Senator you are going to be brief and simply say "I am opposed to the so called Stimulus Bill and I urge the Senator to vote No. Thank you and please urge the Senator to VOTE NO."
There is no need to go into some tirade and you have better things to anyway (like contact 9 more senators offices). It will be enough to implore the senator to VOTE NO.
The Second powerful action you can take is go to 10 senators websites and make clear, once again, that you do not want this bill to pass and you strongly urge the senator to vote no.
The 3 senators you absolutely must contact are the RINOs. Make sure you call Senator Snowe of Maine. She thinks she is a movie star and made the rounds on TV and other news organizations this weekend. She looked very proud and had the biggest smile. With enough calls you can get her to change her mind.

Absolutely, contact your two senators who represent the state you live in.
The senators use websites with forms that enable them to organize the communication they receive logically. It is a good thing but does require a little extras work on your part to make the message clear and unmistakable, VOTE NO

“she is the cutest ugly girl i have ever seen”
AM was a ‘girl’ when giants walked the earth.
You heard correctly. I saw it. Joe S. challenged her assertion, basically asking, if deficit spending got us into this, why will it work now to get us out? As the transcript on the jump page shows, Andrea said, “But (the influx of money came)in a different point in the cycle. The difference is that now we are in a recession,...” Seriously. It sounded even lamer live. She was making it up as she went along. Trying to justify her position...and the porkulus bill...without having a real clue as to why this nonsense would work. (Of course, that’s because it won’t. Be she hasn’t figured that out yet.)
Refusing to recognize that the most efficient way to “pour it in” is to NOT TAKE IT IN THE FIRST PLACE!
That’s a great point and the only place where I have heard it discussed is wherever Steve Forbes appears. Why the heck the Pub’s have not made this point just goes to show the game is rigged.
Andrea and all those economists should be writing the checks right now then.
Doesn’t she mean money should be thrown at it right now?
The Cato Institute ran a full page ad in the Wall St. Journal, NY Times and Washington Post signed by hundreds of economists, including Nobel lauretes, saying this pork bill is a really bad idea.
Its a great ad. Check it out at www.cato.org
Agreed. I linked to it in the FinkelBlog article.
A bald faced lie. OK, so maybe she'd only be lying if she knew what she was talking about, but it's still not true.
Bernanke's original idea was never to 'pour' money in; it was for helping banks create money by beefing up their reserves. The $700B was to seed $3T worth of money creation, and imho it was a good idea economically. Unfortunately it was a disaster politically because it got Obama elected and now instead of private economic growth we got governmental growth that's a burden to the private sector..
Right wing economists: favor looting the public till for those who do not work and are intent on maintaining an unrealistic lifestyle
Left wing economists: favor looting the public till for those who do not work and are intent on maintaining an unrealistic lifestyle
The rest of us are the poor bastards who have to work to keep the till full.
Does it strike anyone else as odd that most economists are layabouts who live off of government largesse?
