The Obama administration is ending the Census Bureau's traditional autonomy – a move that has Republicans outraged over the White House's politicization of counting Americans.
Last week, an administration official revealed that the yet-to-be-named director of the Census Bureau will report to the White House rather than Commerce Secretary nominee Judd Gregg, a Republican.
That prompted a blistering response from two key Republicans on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.
"Any attempt by the Obama administration to circumvent the census process for their political benefit will be met with fierce opposition as this ill-conceived proposal undermines a constitutionally obligated process that speaks to the very heart of our democracy," California Rep. Darrell Issa wrote in a letter to President Barack Obama. The letter was co-signed by North Carolina Rep. Patrick McHenry.
"Requiring the census director to report directly to the White House and placing responsibility for administration of the Bureau outside_the Department of Commerce may even violate federal law," the letter stated. "According to Title 13 of the U.S. Code, the Bureau is to be administered 'within, and under the jurisdiction of, the Department of Commerce.' According to U.S. Code, the Executive Branch is limited to providing support for the Bureau in the form of information and resources."
The census counts all Americans every 10 years, and the results are used to allocate congressional seats (redistricting), electoral votes, and some government funding. With congressional_elections coming in 2012, the fear is that the 2010 census will be manipulated in a way that results in positive redistricting for Democrats.
The census firestorm erupted after Congressional Quarterly reported that “The decision [on the census director] came after_black and Hispanic leaders raised questions about Commerce Secretary nominee Judd Gregg's commitment to funding the census." In 2000, Gregg opposed emergency funding for the census.

Control of the Census won’t matter after O signs this non-stimulus bill and flushes the Democratic party into oblivion. We are headed for hard times and Captain Zero and the MSM will be held responsible. To the GOP, sometimes nothing is a real cool hand.

A corrupt political philosophy infecting a party that has wrested control of ALL THREE Federal branches of government. Once in power, they do things like manipulate the Census, give illegal aliens amnesty and the right to vote (for the offending political power of course), and invite terrorists as citizens.
Even IF the Second Amendment lives through this, I seriously doubt it would be enough to defend Liberty.

For me, once they start enforcing things like gun control, I will protect my private property. People will hear about the things we do, and they will join up.

This (the census changes) WILL now include “extrapolated citizens” - “people we “know” are there (in these minority groups) but who we couldn’t count - so we will arbitrarily “add” a few thousand (democratic voters} to many congressional districts across the US.
They'll still come for us one at a time and in the dead of night.

Senator Gregg should back out of his acceptance of Commerce Sec. He has a legitimate reason: The job he was first offered is not the job he will get. He was offered a job in the department that oversees the Census. If nothing else, his refusal would call attention to Obama’s trickery. Of course, the MSM would probably try to frame it differently, but at least Fox and Drudge would get it right.

But I think you're correct.
I believe we only have around 2 million troops available and a lot of those would simply refuse.
Remember that Dachau began as a prison for the political enemies.
But this time will be different. My bet is they'll start with registered sex offenders: the ones who served their sentences and were released. And nobody will say anything because they're not registered sex offenders. Many FReepers will even cheer. At least until their turn comes.
