WASHINGTON (AP) The Senate has killed an alternative economic stimulus plan by Sen. John McCain that would have cut income and payroll taxes but spent far less than President Obama's plan.
The party-line 57-40 vote against McCain's $421 billion plan came Thursday as a group of moderate Democrats and Republicans struggled to cut up to $100 billion from Obama's version.

McCain's Rat "friends" have turned on him. |

Maybe McCain will finally see the light...or maybe not. Only time will tell.
Jet Jock John had better dig his heals in and fight hard to defeat this pig trough faux stimulus garbage bill. His buddies on the democrat side really crossed the ailse for him didn’t they.
The Commie ‘RATS have a lot of paybacks they need to dish out to the maggots who gave them total control of the government back in November. Especially the worthless, greedy scumbags in the “environmental movement.”
Here’s McCain site to vote NO on the stimulus plan as it is now.

If the “Moderate” Republicans and Democrats cut 100 Billion from this pork-bloated monster of a bill, it will still be over $850 Billion in useless spending and will be just as destructive to the economy. The only principled position is to vote NO to the whole bloody mess.
The economy self-corrects. We should not let the ‘Rats use economic hard times to justify the passage of their usual tax-and-spend fantasies.
Hey, Juan! All your buddies across the aisle that you keep reaching out to them... they just biotch-slapped you to the tune of 57-0. CAN YOU HEAR THEM NOW?
Of course they would kill it — there isn’t enough pork, wasted spending, and payback in it. The Democrats could give a rip less about the taxpayer as long as they can buy votes with some giveaway program.
You know all Republicans need to oppose this crapola when friggin’ McCain’s amendment is defeated by the Dems.
I think it’s kinda ironic how now McCain is so angry about this stimulus bill but had NO issue suspending his campaign to go to Washington and vote YES on a bailout NO ONE wanted. Where was the outrage then McCain
If Obama wants his stimulus, he should ram it through with Democratic votes. Other than voting no when the time comes, the Republicans need to stay on the sidelines.
They need to cut waaaay more than 1 Billion from this monstrosity.......
It will be interesting to see what McCain does next.
hey McWuss ask your rats friends where they lost 78 billion dollars when they through out the first 350 billion
If Obama wants his stimulus, he should ram it through with Democratic votes. Other than voting no when the time comes, the Republicans need to stay on the sidelines.
He NEEDS Republicans to vote for this right along with the Dems, that way when this pork package FAILS and fails miserably, he can say “Well, Republicans wanted it too”
EXACTLY!!
He should have have taken a vocal stand against that outrage. After all, we all see how well that one worked. /s
We'll see if he ends up voting for this next OUTRAGE....
of course, at this point, it will do no good anyway.
“They need to cut waaaay more than 1 Billion from this monstrosity.”
Even if they cut it 100 billion at this point they aren’t even back down the what the original amount was!
The necessary self-correction is painful, and pain in the populace doesn't get Obama re-elected. We want to have our party, but don't want to have to deal with the hangover.

I don’t trust Comrade Juan McNuts on very much, but he does appear to be an occasional Fiscal Conservative.
He wants to show that he is now for the people. He realized he messed up big time voting for a bailout no one wanted(gee someone working for his campaign must not have informed him about the polls that showed that NO ONE WANTED IT) and maybe he knows his popularity in Arizona is going downhill and is afraid he might lose his Senate seat in 2010
Any republican voting for the bill should be blackballed by the RNC.
Which reminds me where is our new leader Steele?
I think you nailed it.
Who among you could doubt Senator McCain’s intentions?
Exactly.......but leave it to RINO’S in the senate to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. We all need to call/fax the senate. Not ONE GOP Senator should vote for this liberal wet dream of a bill. Let the commie left OWN it.
What irony, McRINO thrown under his own bus, the ‘Straight Talk Express’ by his faux friends, fellow Senate ‘Rats.
Back it up ‘Rats, put another set of tread marks on that POS!

Never. The man is an idiot.
Hey McCain: Here is a little help for all of the promised wonderful new-tone bi-partisan Dem support:
Can modifications be made in the House to the stimuless bill?
Talk about getting owned.
Karma's a real bitch, ain't it, McQueeg?
What this is, is a piece of theater.
McCain knew this bill was going nowhere.
I really wish people would stop attacking McCain & Lindsey Graham.
They’re finally doing the right thing, and you guys are still attacking them.
Prediction? That will be exactly what will happen after another week of branding Republicans as obstructionists. Dems will say it will be fixed in conference.
The Senate bill is larger, in dollars, than the House bill. In conference, $X billion will be trimmed, Dems will claim they cut fat, and the House total $ will be passed.
Just a thought.

One “Stimulus Plan” Down, one to go!
I think maybe not. Speaking of time; wonder when McStupid’s senate term will be up? Any Arizona folks out there? Also, please when his term is up, pleeeeeease elect a “real Republican” the next go round.
The right thing? The RIGHT Thing? The trillion dollar Porkulus needs to be reduced by trillion and a half before it even starts to approach the "right thing".
$100B one way or the other is chump change. All this imaginary money coming off the printing presses will do is further endanger us, drive us further in debt, and further guarantee runaway inflation sometime in the near future.
The "right thing", my a$$.
$421 BILLION isn’t enough! Maybe the gang of 14 will vote no this time around.
A HUNDRED BILLION??? OUT OF OVER NINE HUNDRED BILLION???
What the hell is the point of that? If you won't stand for $900 billion worth of bad ideas, why in heaven's name would anybody support $800 billion worth of bad ideas?
No, It has already passed the house, where not one republican voted for it, and even a handful of rats voted against it
McCain is good at getting shot down.
Gotta fight it one issue at a time.
Pick and attack the worst. Lather, rinse, repeat.

McCain augers in another one ...
If he had opposed the bailout back in October, he would have won the election. But he's a dope.
Act II, Scene III. This is all leading into a Sunday talking head show finale and watching the usual suspects slap each other on the back for their bi-partisanship heroics.
No. Tell the people the TRUTH. Then step back and let the Democrats own it if they will (which they won't). This sort of half-a$$ed compromising is precisely what lends cover to those who would cave in for "pragmatism" and "bipartisanship", when in reality, it is the death knell of our Republic.
McCain's position on the bailout did exactly the same thing- offering cover for those who would cave, instead of standing with the House Republicans, who_were_right.
What purpose is there for the "opposition" if it is not to oppose the tyranny of the ruling party, especially when it is so blatantly wrong in it's direction?
His amendment needs to cut up to 1 trillion from the porkulus bill.
