Stars Turn Out for Clinton Swearing-In By ROBERT BURNS, AP

Yes, that was Chevy Chase, the former "Saturday Night Live" funnyman, in the crowd at Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton's ceremonial swearing-in Monday at the State Department.

Chase brought a touch of Hollywood star power to a gathering of Washington's power elite, including Henry Kissinger and three other former secretaries of state, as Vice President Joe Biden administered the oath of office.

In her remarks, Clinton thanked Biden and President Barack Obama for choosing her as the nation's top diplomat, saying she had assumed her new responsibilities "at a real hinge-of-history time." "We have in the leadership of President Obama someone who wants us to reach out to the world, to do so without illusions, understanding that the difficulties we face will not be wished away," she said.

In a slightly awkward moment, Clinton thanked her husband, who stood behind her and beside Chelsea. "I am so grateful to him for a lifetime of," she said -- pausing as if searching for the right words --"all kinds of experiences." At that the crowd erupted briefly in laughter.

Maybe Michael Moore is right...maybe we are the stupidest people on the planet...look what "cracks the crowd up"...which is worse that the former president is a dog or that his wife thinks it is cute...I wake up every day to some Dem insult that is hard to bear...we look rediculous with these assclowns running the country...especially "at a real hinge-of-history time." whatever the hell that means...I don't know if this a joke or a nightmare, but it is definitely one or the other...if it is a joke, its on us...if its a nightmare, we better wake the hell up and soon...

What a travesty. Of ALL people, Hillary Clinton as a DIPLOMAT!

This is downright shameful what we are allowing to happen to this country.

They - the Clintons, the Obamas, the whole Administration - have no sense of respect or awe. It’s all a joke to them.

“Spaulding” was on the Howie Carr show. He said that Chase was a bleephole on the set of Caddyshack. He said the real fun guy on the set was Ted Knight.

I heard that. I know Chase is the single most despised ‘guest host’ at SNL, thats been documented many times.

I also seem to recall Rodney Dangerfield had no use for Chase after the Caddyshack movie.

Some comics want desperately to be ‘Hamlet’ (See Robin Williams). Others just want to strike out at anyone as a direct result of their own low self esteem.

Chase falls into the latter catagory.

Last night Newt was praising Hitlery for being a great part of O’s national security team.

That woman must have some FBI file on Newt.
