"Anybody toting guns and stripping moose don't care too much about what they do with Jews and blacks. So, you just think this through."

This is how the socialist left defines "emergencies". They want to create detention camps for American citizens and thwart their freedom of speech if they defy socialism while a the same time insisting Gitmo be closed.

I note that the bill specifically calls out the definitions of emergency and disaster from the Stafford Act. Stafford specifically deals with natural disasters (The Katrina mess was a mess because the governor did not understand Stafford, and the word Stafford was never ever mentioned by the press).

He does not mention civil insurrection, martial law, or other such nefarious things.

Remember the mess that the displaced Katrina people caused everywhere they went? They were put all over the place but mostly in neighborhoods. If this bill were in place, they would have been sent to some base that had lots of empty barracks.

IMHO the following provision in the bill is the key.

(f) Cooperative Agreement for Joint Use of Existing Military Installations- If an existing military installation other than a closed military installation is designated as a national emergency center, not later than 180 days after the date of designation, the Secretary of Homeland Security and the Secretary of Defense shall enter into a cooperative agreement to provide for the establishment of the national emergency center.

This provision will allow BO and the socialists in Congress to close military bases consequently removing them from the military authority and thereby weakening the military, ending free speech and creating a stronger centralized form of government.

http://www.bookmice.net/darkchilde/japan/camp.html

Japanese-American Internment Camps

A historical fact that is not really “common knowledge” is the fact that, during World War II, over 100,000 Japanese-American individuals, the vast majority of which were actually American citizens, were rounded up and shipped eventually to internment camps. These consisted of poorly-constructed barracks surrounded by barbed wire, sentry posts and armed guards.

They were put in these camps, not because they had been tried and found guilty of something, but because either they or their parents or ancestors were from Japan and, as such, they were deemed a “threat” to national security. They were also easily identifiable due to their race. There was no similar large-scale roundups of German or Italian-Americans, even though we were also fighting them during World War II.

These people were forced to abandon their businesses, their homes and, in many cases, their families as some individuals were taken elsewhere and held, again without trial, for years. The Japanese-Americans suffered severe economic losses, personal humiliation and, in a some cases, death, due to this relocation.

The relocation itself was ordered by the then President of the United States, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and by an act of Congress.

The Japanese-American (Nisei) and the Japanese aliens (Issei) on the West Coast were rounded up and moved to assembly centers and then to internment camps. Few Japanese living in the East or Midwestern portions of the U.S., though, were treated the same way.

What is extremely interesting is that the Nisei and Issei living in Hawaii were not subject to a mass evacuation even though they formed a third of the population in Hawaii and were a lot closer to Japan than the Japanese-Americans on the West Coast of the U.S.

The reasons they weren’t rounded up were both cultural and economic.

“There was no mass relocation and internment in Hawaii, where the population was one-third Japanese American. It would have been impossible to transport that many people to the mainland, and the Hawaiian economy would have collapsed without Japanese American workers. “

-from the book Japanese American Internment Camps by Gail Sakurai, 2002

“Ironically, the territory with the largest Japanese population saw the least discrimination. More than one third of all residents of Hawaii had some Japanese ancestry. Japanese labor was considered vital to the civilian and military economics of the Hawaiian Islands. Besides, the views of Delos Emmons, military commander of Hawaii, were the opposite of those of General DeWitt.”

-from the book Japanese-American internment in American History, 1996.

As noted in some of the other reviews, there were a very small number of people arrested and detained in Hawaii and a small number that voluntarily went to the mainland camps, but primarily so they could find relatives. There was not a single act of sabotage in Hawaii by the Japanese Americans during the entire war.

In addition, since there were so many people of Japanese ancestry already living in Hawaii, about a third of the population, racism was not at all the kind of problem it was on the west coast.

Although prejudice and discrimination played major roles in the internment, economics and jealousy did also, as many Californians were jealous of the economic success that the Japanese-American farmers and store owners enjoyed. Thus arose a lot of the anti-Japanese-American feeling in the same way that some people despise Jewish people, largely due to their economic successes. The hard work, self-sacrifice, and strong efforts by the Japanese-Americans and Jewish people are overlooked and ignored when people of prejudice proclaim their judgments against Japanese-Americans and Jewish people.

The fact that the internment did happen here in the U.S. is something to never forget since what has happened once could very well happen again, especially in these days of growing anti-immigrant, anti-foreigner feelings in the U.S.

Rep. Hastings has been trying for a few years.

"Under Representative Hastings' legislation, National Emergency Centers would be located on military bases with a preference wherever possible for those installations closed during the most recent Base Realignment and Closures (BRAC) Commission recommendations."

That was H.R. 1796 in 2007

.. and again this year. Two sources

Here

and here. H. R. 645 22 Jan. 2009

I guess it's all how you think these camps can be used. Ostensibly these are to have facilities ready in case of another Katrina. Hmm, I wonder if my freezing hillbilly kin would be allowed in -- even if they did not vote for Obama.

I hope this will help folks here to understand what is happening and perhaps why Congressman Hastings has proposed this legislation.

Yesterday a blog called Market-ticker.org, written by Karl Denninger, posted the referenced article below (I’ve provided a pertinent excerpt). He predicts that our nation is on the edge of a complete financial collapse. You can bet that our government knows that too.

There are three generations of welfare families living in inner cities which have relied on that check in the mail, and they’ll be desperate when the money no longer comes to them. Our government is bankrupt - there is no money in its coffers and borrowing from abroad will not help.

Read this article and understand what is happening. Do not despair but be prepared.

“Here It Comes”, by Karl Denninger, Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009
http://market-ticker.org/
(excerpt)
“Government must be prepared to provide the basic necessities of life for at least five to ten million Americans and possibly as many as fifty-million - one in six. As I have noted before this means barracks-style places to sleep, food, clothing and basic medical care. HUNGRY, HOMELESS AND UNEMPLOYED PEOPLE ARE DANGEROUS.”
If a Dirty Bomb Goes off in a Neighborhood Near You . . .

January 30, 2009

Don't you Feel Safe Now?

Go to your local Emergency Center established on a military base. HR 645, known as the National Emergency Centers Establishment Act sponsored by Rep. Hastings, will create and ” provide temporary housing, medical, and humanitarian assistance to individuals and families dislocated due an emergency or major disaster,” to the tune of 180 million the first year.

Take a read for yourself and let me know what you think of this bill! I am not sure I want to place the security and sustenance of my family in the hands of Big Bubby! America has always had natural disasters and Americans, being as resourceful as they are, have always gotten through it. Why would we need the government to set up “camps” to take care of us now? Why not leave these issues in our hands?

At the end of World War I, America suffered through during the third greatest plague in the history of mankind taking over 21 million lives world wide. It was known as the Spanish Flu of 1918, where about 550,000 Americans died in a 16 week period. We got through it without “camps” based on military bases!

Do not forget that it was the military service men and women who suffered the worse during this pandemic because they were locked on a military base in such close and contagious quarters!

World War II, FDR set up “camps” on military bases to provide “temporary housing, and medical,” to Americans of Japanese descent. We’re still screaming about that!

DO NOT TRUST THE GOVERNMENT. If I were you, I would remember how the Katrina disaster was dealt with by FEMA and then prep your own family! You are ultimately responsible for your own life, and not big bubby! Then call your representatives and demand they vote NO on this potentially disastrous bill that can seriously infringe on your Rights and Freedoms.
This is one of the things I was upset with George Bush about during his last year in office. He should have known better than to leave something in place that his successor could use to their advantage to gain control in ANY way over the people, and take away ANY part of their rights. Heck, he should’ve known better than to craft those in the first place — a politician who doesn’t think about something far enough in the future to anticipate some of these types of “unintended consequences” shouldn’t be making these types of decisions. They should be thinking a little harder, IMHO.

[I don’t, frankly, see why the President would need this power in an emergency in a HUGE way. He should have the power of the Federal Government as it exists, right now, and that’s it. The Executive Branch should not be trying to increase it’s power base otherwise checks and balances do not have a chance of working as they should.]

Now, don’t get me wrong. I am not “blaming Bush” entirely, obviously Obama is the dictator who is using these laws against the people (or would), but even the most sincere of people can create problems for the future if they are not careful. Bush may not have abused the directive, and genuinely thought it was good, but now Obama will use this to exert more power — and that’s a very bad thing.

Incidentally, it’s the same thing that is wrong with Socialist policies. They hand too much power to one branch, and one person, and one party, really. And, for instance, even if Obama DIDN’T abuse this legislation against the people, someone in the future would... It’s only human nature...

This is frustrating. Why don’t people learn? It’s not as if this hasn’t been “done before” in history...

What do you think of bill to create detention camps in U.S. for 'emergencies'? (1995 votes)

It is now more than clear the federal government is rapidly goose-stepping its way toward tyranny 36% (718)
Hello?! Does Nazi Germany ring any bells? 35% (702)
There's little doubt the government would use such camps for malicious purposes on its own citizens 11% (217)
There are intended harmful consequences couched under the guise of preparedness 5% (107)
If the bill is from the nutcase congressman Alcee Hastings, you know it's a bad idea 5% (106)
This is what we get with Democrats in control, and I don't like it one bit 4% (81)
I see both benefits and dangers in this idea. It's a tough call 1% (23)
While the bill sounds good, there could be unintended consequences harmful to Americans 1% (18)
Other 1% (13)
Great idea. We need to be ready to respond to emergencies 0% (5)
We can never be prepared enough for disasters, so this is very pragmatic 0% (5)
Everything seems kosher in the bill's language, so I think it's fine 0% (0)

Conservatives are so blind and such sheep.

These camps are for you, idiots.

Close Gitmo and build camps for Americans.

Oh, but, don’t you worry your little “it can’t happen here.” heads it will still be a while before the fascist-left visits your house.

When you, uh, I should say: IF YOU, finally wake up and see that they are taking over your country you will get angry and take to the streets. By then, however, the grip on your collective throats will be so firm that you will only be gassed, rounded up and taken to these camps—or worse.

I know, I know, how extreme of me, it can’t happen here, right?

All of us gun owners will rally and take on the US military, right?

This will be but a luxurious convenience for our dear leaders as they have a “good reason” to mow us down en masse.

The tipping point is fast approaching.

Within two months of being elected in 1933, Hitler passed the Enabling Acts giving the Nazis sweeping powers, and established the first of many concentration camps in the sleepy town of Dachau outside of Munich. So we are pretty much right on schedule.

A Call for a few Good Men & Women to Unite for Our Country

To find standing the Court need look no further than the Preamble of the Constitution of the United States, “We the people of the United States in order to form a more perfect Union… do ordain and establish this constitution for the United States of America.” Thus, “we the people,” individually, are established as one party among many to a contract binding upon the executors of this contract, our Constitution.

Who then are the executors of this contract with the people?

“We the people” in this cause assert that anyone and everyone who takes Oath to be bound by our Constitution becomes a party to this agreement.

Foremost among the parties counterbalanced upon this executory contract is the President of the United States, the Chief Executive or Executor of the Constitutional Contract.

When is the President bound to this contract, our Constitution? “We the People” contend that he is bound immediately, upon the taking of the Oath. In the instant case, Barack Hussein Obama became bound to our Constitutional Contract on January 20, 2009.

As in the cause of Marbury v. Madison 5 U.S. (1 Crunch) 137, 2 L.Ed. 60 (1803), “We the People” seek fullfillment of our executory contract, our Constitution, by way of a Writ of Mandamus upon the executor by oath of said contract, the President of the United States of America, Barack Hussein Obama.

As succinctly stated by Chief Justice Marshall in Marbury, “If a persons duty is backed by law and not by political in nature, then he becomes subject of the law and is examinable by the court.”

Thus, Barack Hussein Obama, having bound himself contractually by law to our Constitutional Contract is subject to the jurisdiction of the law, in this case the original jurisdiction of the United States Supreme Court.

It is stated in United States v. Butterworth, 18 S. Ct. 441, 169 U.S. 600 at 602 (1898),

The office of a writ of mandamus is to compel the performance of a duty resting upon the person to whom the writ is sent. That duty may have originated in one way or in another. It may, as alleged in the present case, have arisen from the acceptance of an office which has imposed the duty upon its incumbent. But no matter out of what fact or relations the duty has grown, what the law requires, and what it seeks to enforce by a writ of mandamus, is the personal obligation of the individual to whom it addresses the writ.”

Following much good faith research regarding the issue of original jurisdiction in the Supreme Court of the United States, “We the People” have found no cases in the history of jurisprudence of the United States of America wherein a Defendant disputed the Constitutional fact that the Supreme Court of the United States has original jurisdiction over “all Cases affecting Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls” as plainly stated in the Constitution of the United States, Article III, Section 2.

That being the case, “We the People” respectfully request that the Barack Hussein Obama stipulate to the fact that the Supreme Court of the United States has original jurisdiction over all Cases affecting Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls; or, in the alternative, that Barack Hussein Obama show good cause why the Supreme Court of the United States shall not have original jurisdiction over our cause.

This has been making the rounds on tin foil websites for a few years now, up until now it would have been met with scorn and contempt here at FR.

It's time to place some of these Tax Cheats that work in the Senate and for the Obama Administration in these Camps for 10 years.

They would do that to any working guy or gal that did the same.Especially if they couldn’t afford the cost of a high class attorney.
