URBANA, Md. (AP) - The Justice Department says it foiled a plot by a fired Fannie Mae contract worker in Maryland to destroy all the data on the mortgage giant's 4,000 computer servers nationwide. The U.S. Attorney's Office says 35-year-old Rajendrasinh Makwana, of Glen Allen, Va., is scheduled for arraignment Friday in U.S. District Court in Baltimore on one count of computer intrusion.
U.S. Attorney Rod Rosenstein says Makwana was fired Oct. 24.
Rosenstein says that on that day, Makwana programmed a computer with a malicious code that was set to spread throughout the Fannie Mae network and destroy all data this Saturday.

Bawney Frank and others want the EVIDENCE destroyed....
I would not put it past 0bama to have ordered this.
Huge if accurate.
Sounds like another Irish plot to me
He might be trying to drum up work for the tech support team in Calcutta.
Why THIS SATURDAY?
What did they know and when did they know it???
...they did it in Superman III...
Well, OK.... but that would be no more than an inconvenience unless, by some unbelievable fault, Fannie Mae created no backups.
Send in Sandy Burglar!
Where there is smoke..there is a democrat fire!
HOLY SMOKES IS RIGHT!!
Just a disgruntled employee acting alone.
This perp should be sharing a prison cell with Bawney Frank.
From another link on the story:
“Makwana was fired from his contract position at Fannie Mae on Oct. 24 for changing computer settings without permission from his supervisor, FBI agent Jessica Nye wrote in a sworn statement. He had worked at Fannie Mae for three years as a computer engineer at the Urbana offices, where he had full access to all of the federally created mortgage companys 4,000 servers.”
Trying to change setings..ehh??
Where is Urbana?
What’s surprising to me is that there is still data left at all at this point in the game!
This will get very interesting very soon.
I hpoe the Feds can make this looser squeal like a pig and implicate all our “favorite” DEMS.
He just destroyed data, Congressional dems destroyed the economy.
Trying to destroy evidence, eh? I wonder what Bawney and his Fannie Mae boyfriend have to do with this plot.
whoa!
Wow!
Was he an Obama Volunteer.
Ties to the House and Senate.
Contact with Raines/Gorelick etc.
Any links to Soros?
Skeptical here, ... because the guy should be in custody.
Wait and see, I guess.
The guy might just be a patsy for the real perps! Who gets fired for ‘changing settings’? This happened back in October and we are just now finding out about it?
Something stinks!!
H1B! YOU BET YOUR BIPPY!
“Rajendrasinh Makwana, an Indian citizen”
Fannie Mae hiring H1B’s instead of U.S. citizens?
How ironic!
Please spell Congressmen’s names correctly. It is:
Bawney Fwank.
Thank you very much.
“Bawney Frank and others want the EVIDENCE destroyed....”
They should have sent Sandy “Burglar” Berger to do the job...he’s a professional.
I agree, the timing is TOO convenient.
I guess we know who will be among BO’s first pardons in (hopefully) 4 years.
Illegal alien at a scam company.
Important info at this link:

This guy might have been set up by the folks at Fannie Mae trying to hide the evidence folks! This happened in October when all the news was coming out about Fannie Mae!
Who is to say someone else did not access his computer to do this stuff and set him up for the fall?
Who gets FIRED for changing a few ‘settings’ anyway?
This story is worth watching and keeping track of for sure!
Urbanna is down 270 from Frederick, toward Washington.
Barney Frank & Chris Dodd want the evidence destroyed.
It's not mutually exclusive.
The guy could have written this hack years ago, in case he ever did get fired.
I would guess that he had a "deadman timer" on this little bomb that was reset every time he logged in. If he didn't log in for (say) two months, then it would expire and the data would be lost.
$500 sez this jackass is a DIMocrat operative. Wait & see. A week or two from now.
Depends on the settings, doesn't it?
For this guy to achieve his "bomb," he'd have to grant himself write/delete access to the files themselves -- something he was probably directly prohibited from doing.
"..It was mere chance that a senior Unix engineer with Fannie Mae discovered a logic bomb.
The logic bomb, a malicious script designed to wipe Fannie Mae's 4,000 servers, was allegedly placed by Rajendrasinh Makwana, an IT contractor who worked in Fannie Mae's Urbana, Md., facility. It was set to execute on Jan. 31. Had it done so, Fannie Mae engineers expect it would have caused millions of dollars in damage and possibly shut down the government-sponsored mortgage lender for a week.[snip]
[snip]The discovery occurred on Oct. 29. Makwana had been terminated as a Fannie Mae contractor on Oct. 24, around 1 or 1:30 p.m., the affidavit says, but his network access was not terminated until late that evening. Makwana was fired for allegedly creating a computer script earlier that month that changed server settings without the permission of his supervisor.
Makwana was not required to turn in his badge or Fannie Mae-supplied laptop until the end of the day on Oct. 24. According to Nye's affidavit, it was during that afternoon that Makwana is alleged to have planted the malicious script...."
Thanks.
Can’t wait to hear this guys side of the story. Looks and smells like the perfect set up to me. Pick a target(patsy from another country)..fire him for a minor petty reason..get into his computer while he is not at work..set up a data time bomb...blame the ‘disgruntled employee’ from a foreign country...scare the hell out of him if he talks and say you will drop the charges if he returns to his faraway land and slap a gag order on him.
Bing...badda..bing... Barney Frank, Franklin Raines and the democrats ‘pay to play’ stuff wiped out...Mission Accomplished.
OK...putting on my tin foil hat here...I know.
But the report is saying he was fired for ‘changing a few settings’..then planted the data bomb on Oct 24th..after he was fired.
Oh yeah!
Of course, they probably can't afford a CISSP on staff...
If I were a betting man, I'd take that bet. The guy sounds like nothing more than a garden-variety paranoid fruitloop.
I'd chalk that up to reporter ignorance. There'd be no way for him to get into the system after being fired.
My money's on a "deadman timer" program that triggered after he failed to log on to the system for a while. Whatever else he did with the "changed settings," they would been utilized by his bomb as well.
He planted it on October 24th (after he was fired). It wasn’t discovered until October 29. But it wasn’t set to go off until January 31, 2009. If this was a disgruntled employee, why wait for it to go off so long after he was fired?
What do you think, would co-located redundant RAID 5+1 NAS be sufficient if hourly physical backup is IMPOSSIBLE?
“There’d be no way for him to get into the system after being fired.”
Another question then...What government employee can be fired for one ‘offense’ and made to leave the same day anymore? I thought the libs had protections written into law about such things?
LOL..It doesn’t make sense. They fired him for ‘what-ever’..then allowed him back on his computer to program a revenge data bomb? They are trying to say he was a ‘disgruntled’ worker..yet he was fired before he planted the data bomb.
Good question. Something doesn’t add up. Plus, they didn’t even arrest him until Jan.7, 2009.
Why wait so long?
