House Republicans have proposed an alternative that leaders say would create 6.2 million jobs for only $478 billion. "What Member can't go back his or her District and explain: Rather than voting for a bloated bill, ... I voted for an alternative that would create twice the jobs at half the cost, and faster?" a House Republican leadership aide said. "That's why we didn't lose a single Republican and picked up 11 Democrats." Pushing back against the unanimous House Republican vote against President Obamas stimulus plan, the White House plans to release state-by-state job figures so we can put a number on what folks voted for an against, an administration aide said. Its clear the Republicans who voted against the stimulus represent constituents who will be stunned to learn their member of Congress voted against [saving or] creating 4 million jobs, the aide said.

Zero is going back to four packs of cig's a day in no time! Good luck Zero!
egads! I just had the image of theOne puffing on a cigarette and tossing it out those beautiful french doors of the oval office....
Obama acts more like Blago every day.
It’s going to be hard to spew propaganda that Congress folks voted against creating 4 million jobs when it doesn’t do so.
So bring it. It’s going to come back and bite them hard.
More like GOP rejects Hussein stupidity.
HA! Bipartisan this!
I’m hoping, praying, and crossing my fingers that the Senate Republicans follow the House’s lead. Naturally I’d prefer to see the bill die, but if not at least let it pass without a single GOP vote from either chamber.
I really hope they try this. People are not stupid. REAL people know that you can't create even one new job with 335 million dollars for STD abatement.
I heartily agree.
After the Senate finishes tweaking the bill, it would be up to at least 1.3 trillion and will probably pass though the House without any opposition.
$478 billion is half. Suspect all the pork was cut out and that’s why the RATS wouldn’t give the PUBS the time of day re input into the stimulus package.
As always, if you don’t agree with the dems you “defy” them.
>>GOP defies Obama overtures<<
That just really shouldn’t be the title - the story is the Dems put so much pork and so much liberal agenda spending and welfare compared to the tax cuts that the House Republicans just couldn’t stomach it - in spite of the Repubs being afraid of being painted as obstructionists.
As always, if you dont agree with the dems you defy them.
Good point....The wording always leans left.
The House delivered a very strong message to the Senate Republicans.
Now the question is will the people rise to the Senators and say stop.
My sense is that many will. And I applaud it. In advance.
Cantor has done a great job here. And you can tell by the angry media.
They are not happy that the unity here is deflating the worship balloon.
If one Republican Senator votes yes on the pork spending, they are ready to declare it a new day of bi-partisan victory. Praise Obama!
