"Can I make a comment that is unrelated to the economy very quickly?" the new president told reporters at a gathering with business leaders. "And it has to do with Washington. My children's school was canceled today. Because of, what? Some ice?"

What a pr_ck. He knows better about everything than everyone else. Jeez. I hate guys like this.
Not everybody can have a detail of Secret Service Agents safely escort their children to school in dangerous weather conditions.
But who would expect the Obamessiah to know this?
Same thing happened here last week. The parents of the other kids in my daughters’ gymnastics class were outraged. What’s the use of free daycare - not to mention the service the Obamas are paying for! - if it’s not open when you don’t feel like having your kids around?
“I won. Open that school.”
Kindly be sensitive when addressing people who are not accustomed to snow and ice.
Anyone who can afford Sidwell Friends can pay *somebody* to take their kids to school, in a snowplow if necessary.
WaPo will robotically agree and call the entire Metro area a bunch of wimps.
D.C. has like three snow plows.
Mocking. So attractive in a leader. Guaranteed to go over at their school, too, I bet.
The DC schools were on 2-hour delayed opening
But hey, if the Secret Service armored limo caravan can get through the ice to Sidwell Friends- all those public school parents and teachers should just suck it up and report on time
Has it occurred to him the Chicago is flat as a pancake with square blocks, and Washington is hilly with lots of curvy roads?
Hey Welcome to Washington Obama
Where wimps unite and don’t seem to be able to handle anything!!!! You’ll fit right in.
Doesn’t anyone see what an arrogant SOB this Obama is?
“People who are not used to snow and ice.” I imagine they don’t have the snow plows, etc., in place to deal with unusual weather, either. That’s what usually happens.
Gee, what a jerk!
Perhaps he’s not aware that the mayor of DC, Adrian Fenty, is a black Democrat, just like him. Over the years Mayor Fenty’s grown in my respect. While I don’t live in the city, I do work here, and the services I’ve seen have improved under the Fenty administration.
the media in the room laughed like it was a don rickles show. my god, they really are totally in the bag.
it was like that kiss-ass in the office who laughs at every lame joke the boss makes.
Making friends wherever he goes.
Mr. President, we’re got some tough times on our hands. Beating up the DC School system isn’t going to make things better.
This man is a snob.
I think my county has two ;-). 4” of snow produced a day and half off.
I’d expect Sidwell Friends (in Bethesda, not in the District) to have its own snowplows for the clientele.
Actually because of this:
Icy conditions made for a treacherous drive this morning on many secondary and neighborhood streets. In fact, the most dangerous part of the commute may have been simply walking to the car, as sidewalks and steps literally froze over through the night. The good news for commuters is, the primary roads and highways are in pretty good shape, at least according to the Virginia Department of Transportation. It had over one-thousand salt and chemical trucks plowing and scraping through the night. Thousands of area road crews have been working through the early morning hours in Virginia, Maryland and the District.
He doesn’t like having his own kids under foot.
Oh yeah. I forgot that zero thinks babies are a “punishment”.
Can you imagine DC salting the streets and sending out plows?
I guess those stimulus funds could buy them a bunch of plows..some people would benefit from that.
Maybe he hasn’t ever had to drive on ice. Hmmmmmm.......Chicago, snow and ice all the time......hmmmmmm.
Ironically, today’s class was going to focus on the dangers of global warming...

I thought everybody who sent their kids to Sidwell would have a 4wd SUV in the garage.
And maybe they should. I went to school in suburban Chicago and I can remember - maybe - 5 snow days over 13 years of schooling. In suburban Kansas City where I live now they cancel school if there are 3 inches on the ground. Do that in Chicago and you wouldn't have school from mid-November through early March.
LOL! Obama is right on this one. After spending many winters in CNY I can handle just about anything. Speaking a Virginia native, DC is a snow wuss.
Why not criticize the D.C. government for their inability to keep the roads cleared and open.
Sometimes with ice they cancel or delay to keep cars and busses off the roads.
Obama has to state his exalted opinion on everything.
He has to be in front of the camera daily. Did yall see his being on stage with the businessmen. He stayed in the frame of the tv while they talked, too close and posed the entire time. When he spoke they moved to the side as any normal person would do.
THis man will tire everyone soon.
The country does better when Washington is closed by snow.
But the maid is from Guatemala and isn’t used to driving in snow.
Obama paid for that service out of his own pocket.
Regarding "ice" people in Chicago rarely have ice ~ it's an alien thing to them. What they have is "snow" ~ Lake Michigan gets "ice".
Ice, as any Souvrnr' can tell you is very dangerous, slippery, and sneaky. Mayor Barry taught us that if we wait for Spring it'll melt ~ no doubt Obama has consulted with the old man on that matter.
Anyway, we had between a half and a quarter inch right here. Threw some salt on it to create some thaw points, then busted it up with a steel snowshovel ~ cleared the walk and the drive in about 10 minutes. It took 20 minutes to clear the car (without damaging the finish).
If we'd had a half to a full inch of ice the power would have failed and we'd had a fullscale calamity such as they're actually having in Western Kentucky to Cincinatti.
As I pointed out last evening, Obama was probably asleep while those poor people were having trees fall on their homes, their cars slide down hills, people dying, roofs flooding, injuries by the carload, and he thinks the only risks anyone could have is to have a hurricane.
Obama should have been on the ground surveying Elizabethtown KY this morning at 6 AM, but he wasn't. The man has no compassion, and now he's ridiculing folks in the DC area for attempting to mitigate the hazard.
And where was FEMA? Did he tell them to just stand down, it's only a little ice storm?
No they won’t. Sure, they’re stupid, but they’ve all fought real ice a time or two around here and know it’s not something to ridicule.
I get really tired of this garbage. I lived in NW Pennsylvania and they closed schools all the time. One year they closed school for 4 days because it was too cold to stand at the bus stop.
Maybe he should move to TN where my sister lives. They close schools if there’s even a hint it might snow sometime in the next 24 hours.
Since he’s of this opinion I expect the government to never close over the next four years due to weather.
Don’t you see, Michelle b*tch slapped dear leader because now she has to stay home with them again.
Obama should have been on the ground surveying Elizabethtown KY this morning at 6 AM, but he wasn't.
If I had a catastrophe where I live, the last thing I'd want is Obama around. He'd probably pass out coupons for free abortions.
As a life-long Chicagoan - he is insane to make such a comment - especially related to ice. The one thing that every Chicagons knows is that it is dangerous to drive on ice!!
Time for the 100k snowplow program?
Sidwell could invite him to enroll his daughters elsewhere, or assume personal liability for any student/parent injured traveling to work in icy conditions. Ice ain’t snow, Barrack.
I hear you. During the big storm in ‘67 the bus was cancelled, but school was still open. We watched movies all day and left at 1:30, but the principal showed up, so school was officially open.
Now he knew how to handle ice ~ got to work at 7:30 AM in fact.
All the smart-alecs from NYC and Chicago didn't even make it in.
That's when I began noticing who could or could not handle ice.
he completely lacks any personal warmth. Has anyone ever heard him say something that was actually funny?
It's not snow, it's ice.
And no, you can't drive on ice any better than anyone else.
NEA Response: pucker slurp, slurp, slurp.
LOl, he should of called Gore, and got some global warming sent.. and then got Ted Kennedy to come by and drive the girls to school.. Ted Has driving experience on curvy roads..
Dear Mr. Barak Hussein Soetoro 0bama Whatever:
Welcome to DC. They close schools, here, at the drop of a snowflake. Live with it. Think of it as “cultural diversity” if that helps.
Or, you can just STFU. That works, too.
Sincerely,
-A. Bustard
