Twist Of Fate: Obama Demonstrates How Businesses Should Operate
email: onlinespin@mediapost.com | January 22, 2009 | Max Kalehoff

Posted on 01/25/2009 5:13:50 AM PST by IbJensen

Why can't governments operate more like businesses? In a twist of fate, the White House now is demonstrating how businesses should operate. Including online.

This was evidenced, perhaps more than anywhere else, at 12:01 p.m. during the Presidential inauguration, at www.whitehouse.gov/blog. Yes, the White House now has a blog! I subscribed to in my Google reader. Did you?

Macon Phillips, the Director of New Media for the White House, explained: "Millions of Americans have powered President Obama's journey to the White House, many taking advantage of the internet to play a role in shaping our country's future. WhiteHouse.gov is just the beginning of the new administration's efforts to expand and deepen this online engagement. Just like your new government, WhiteHouse.gov and the rest of the Administration's online programs will put citizens first."

Phillips detailed three priorities:

Communication - "Americans are eager for information about the state of the economy, national security and a host of other issues. This site will feature timely and in-depth content meant to keep everyone up-to-date and educated. Check out the briefing room, keep tabs on the blog (RSS feed) and take a moment to sign up for e-mail updates from the President and his administration so you can be sure to know about major announcements and decisions."

Transparency - "President Obama has committed to making his administration the most open and transparent in history, and WhiteHouse.gov will play a major role in delivering on that promise. The President's executive orders and proclamations will be published for everyone to review, and that's just the beginning of our efforts to provide a window for all Americans into the business of the government. You can also learn about some of the senior leadership in the new administration and about the President's policy priorities."

Participation - "President Obama started his career as a community organizer on the South Side of Chicago, where he saw firsthand what people can do when they come together for a common cause. Citizen participation will be a priority for the Administration, and the Internet will play an important role in that. One significant addition to WhiteHouse.gov reflects a campaign promise from the President: we will publish all non-emergency legislation to the website for five days, and allow the public to review and comment before the President signs it."

Community. Transparency. Participation. In these times of great institutional distrust, pessimism and drifting purpose, those are the core tenets of advantage and progress. They're critical for government and equally as much for business. It's how you create and engage citizens as well as customers.

And those tenets are especially relevant to our business of marketing and media. Which begs the question: Why are they so often blatantly absent from all the products these industries manufacture? I can't figure it out.

But Obama? Indeed, it's too early to celebrate. We'll have to wait and see how -- or if ---the President delivers on his promises, including his new-media commitments. But I can assure you one thing: He's at least launched on the right foot, embracing the openness and potential of the Internet. He's demonstrating, so far, the right way to set up an organization, treat his customers, and use the Internet to enhance relationships.

What do you think?

A gaggle of socialist, America-hating, slavering, knuckle-dragging imbeciles who know as much about business as a pig knows about applying lipstick.

Obomba and those who he has surrounded himself with are here to complete the job of wrecking America to the extent that it can NEVER be repaired! Ineptness works to their advantage.

To anyone who says they can't do much damage over the next 2-4 years, I say watch it happen.

These satan worshippers will apply a vacuum to your 401K and 'legally' drain it overnight and toss the residue into the general fund and give it to the huge unwashed masses whose only work is cashing welfare checks and exchanging foodstamps for 'food' or drugs.

Where is our Francisco Franco? The communists in charge have wiped their collective backsides on our constritution proving it's irrelevancy to them.

Perhaps someone should post that the US shouldn’t be borrowing Chinese money to pay for abortions in Mexico.

All is well!

Move along, please!

"President Obama has committed to making his administration the most open and transparent in history...

Where are all the previous records that have been hidden during the campaign? Transparent, yeah, right.

Where is the "most ethical" claim that all demonrats make and flout as soon as it's said?

If we all turn off our ACME Delux Bullshirt Detectors for a moment, and read the article prima facie, I think it is undeniable that Obama has gotten off to a commendable start that most businesses would envy and would struggle to replicate.

I mean, an up-to-the-second website up-and-running the moment he takes office? Give the devil his due: that is an accomplishment that takes more skill than most organizations have.

His use of New Media to stomp the GOP and get his messages out and manage his troops? Exemplary. Difficult to do better, and vasty superior to anything seen coming out of the GOP.

Misunderestimating this enemy is a mortal sin The Good Guys can ill-afford to indulge. Conservatives get to criticise the Obama machine on its technical and business savvy only when they can do better themselves.

Be humble, and recognize it is manifestly obvious this will take a wee while.

I see no comment section on the blog. Where's the complaint department? I would love to have the honor of being kicked off this blog like the others I have been kicked off.

DU, daily kos, etc.

Well, first of all - What exactly is “non-emergency” legislation? Not that it matters, because obama has already shown the level of transparency he’s committed to. Just like during the campaign when supporters pointed out his campaign promises without asking for any evidence that he’s done one good thing for the country or the community.
Community organizer? Please. What did he accomplish even in his own community?
And yes, he’s right that the internet will play a large role in has administration. The propogaganda emails just keep on coming. I’m waiting for the one that asks me to start spying on my neighbors.

Many layers of this onion we need to peel off before we can get to him.
IE the media, Code Pink, MoveOn.crap, etc ..
He has a pretty big cushion to penetrate before getting to his inner sanctum..LOL

Thank you - that was my take as well. We are up against some savvy people.

There's already been too much knee-jerk anti-Obama comments inserted into everything about this guy. I suspect that some are developing ODS early in the game. He will well deserve whatever wrath the Right can pour on him but it serves no use to automatically pooh-pooh everything this bunch does. They are adept as well as dangerous. Mebbe the GOP can learn a few mass-communication techniques from them.

I find it ironic that Obama can preach transparency when the Clintons refuse to name foreign donors.

I find it ironic that Obama can preach transparency when his campaign was funded by unnamed or vetted Internet donations.

I find it ironic that Obama can preach transparency when he refuses to release his health records (how come Republicans come clean on this, Democrats do not, and the press doesn't care?).

I find it ironic that Obama can preach transparency when he refuses to release his original birth certificate from the state of Hawaii archives (and the press doesn't care).

I ask, "Who is John Galt?"

Cheers, mate! You write:

There are only four years to plan this next one. That sounds like a lot, but it really isn’t. Be sure that they were plannng for 2008 way back in 2000 when GWB “stole” the election.

This socialist fool has never held a real job. He hasn't a clue as to what it means to work to support a family and save for the future.

This cat's future is now assured, as was the Arkancide Clinton trailer trash's future when a rapist and his accomplice were catapulted into the oval orifice.

This nation is being destroyed.

Subject: Fw: This Should Make You Think A Little.???

This Should Make You Think A Little.???

This should make you think

Professor Joseph Olson of Hemline University School of Law,

St. Paul, Minnesota, points out facts of 2008 Presidential election:

Number of States won by:

Democrats: 19

Republicans: 29

Square miles of land won by:

Democrats: 580,000
Republicans: 2,427,000

Population of counties won by:

Democrats: 127 million
Republicans: 143 million

Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by:
Democrats: 13.2
Republicans: 2.1

Professor Olson adds:

“In aggregate, the map of the territory Republican won by Republicans

was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of the country.

Democrat territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in
government-owned tenements and living off various forms of government welfare.

Professor Olson believes the United States is now somewhere

between the “complacency and apathy” phase of Professor Tyler’s

definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation’s

population already having reached the “governmental dependency” phase.

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal
invaders called illegal’s and they vote, then we can say goodbye to

the USA in fewer than five years

This is horrifying. I really believe that unless conservatives find a way to win public opinion very quickly we won’t have another opportunity. In four years’ time we’ll be so far gone we’ll never get back. The move is already on for Americans to bring in and host people from other countries. There will be amnesty and citizenship no doubt, not to mention the fact that we simply can’t afford this.

The move is already on for Americans to bring in and host people from other countries.

A very small percentage possess a high school diploma and many are the castoffs from other nations' surplus unemployable that they wish to be rid of.

When the US took practically an entire African tribe, then relocated them to the Atlanta area one could see how utterly stupid this practice is. If there is a goal it has to be to dilute America's population with worthless human beings.

The Atlanta move didn't work. Since they were black the Atlantans (mostly black) hated them, so the federales moved them to a small Maine town where they proceeded to erode the resources there. That town, whose name has escaped me, is bankrupted and the city leaders are in a quandary.

Our vacuous government is killing the nation, but then they know that. It is apparently part of the master plan to more easily morph us into a third world nation then fold us in to the New World Order.

This is very interesting. I’ve not heard anything about it, which isn’t surprising, I guess. One more example of the media’s move to pick and choose (censor) the news and another horrid example of the government getting involved in ways it shouldn’t. I’m assuming the motive was a good one but we’re killing ourselves.
