Gee, I’m so upset...
She has gone to a warmer place.
Judgement is a scary thing - for those who mock God and His laws!
Galatians 6:7-9
“Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. People reap what they sow.
Those who sow to please their sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction;
Those who sow to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.
Mrs. Cook took the case to the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, which ruled in Ms. Schiesss favor. In July 1976, the General Convention of the church passed a resolution declaring that no one shall be denied access to ordination on the basis of sex.
The overwhelming support that we got in our efforts to challenge the church through the law was one of the things that made for change, Ms. Schiess said on Friday. Nothing significant would have happened without the attention of Constance Cook.
Praying for her soul anyway.

too late ...
Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,
Hebrews 9:27
but her spirit is in the hot seat due to her rejection of Christ as her savior, not because she is a baby murderer.
That rule is the same for all of us.
And praise God that it is, because we all deserve her fate.

Huh. Never heard of the pig.
“...Assumes Room Temperature at 89”
That’s a pretty warm room...
I am ashamed to say that my fellow freepers on here have decided to assume the role to judge any person, interpret the bible however they see fit, and condemn any person as they please. What was a politically conservative site to browse has become something else.
And for those who espouse the theory that all of us who do not accept YOUR beliefs. I am Jewish. You well understand my beliefs. Condemn me and mine. I shall judge not one person lest I be judged likewise yet I shall remove the bookmark to FreeRepublic lest I visit this place again
Prayers for a misguided soul.
Why does Jesus spend so much time in his preaching telling us to be good, to avoid sin, etc., if doing good and avoiding sin are of no consequence? This notion that accepting Jesus as my Lord and Savior is all that counts, while murdering babies, lying, etc., or, on the other hand, doing good, being merciful, giving to the poor, etc., are of no importance—that notion seems to contradict directly a great deal of what Jesus says in the gospels. In his parables, it is people who avoid sin and do good works who end up being rewarded.
This is an odd reply for someone whose about page includes the sentence “Killem all and let Allah have ‘em back,” or words to that effect.
You just don’t like this particular judgment, that is all.
You can go argue that on the Religion forum. I’m not taking the bait.
This is America. People are free to believe or disbelieve any religious notions they choose. Those who want censorship of others’ views, or who want the privilege of espousing certain views without being questioned by others, need to get used to America, or found another country where freedom is suppressed.
I’ll take the bait.
Note that it says “after that.” It does not deal with the question of whether there is ONLY the Final Judgment after death. It merely says that the Final Judgment occurs after death.
You have read into this line of Scripture an assertion it does not make. There is no evidence that this line of Hebrews was intended to answer any question about the value of praying for the dead.
Does Jesus tell them to do this or to that? No.
Jesus says, "Believe on Him whom God has sent."
If we were to do something "TO EARN SALVATION OT TO WORK THE WORKS OF GOD TO EARN HIS FAVOR", that would have been the time to say so.
John 5:24, Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life."
Eph 2:8-9, For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.
If you want to believe that your works have something to do with your salvation and that the blood of Christ is not sufficient, I can't stop you.

LOL you changed the article name in a humorous fashion.
I won’t tell.
I believe that God’s grace is a gift, which cannot be earned. (For one thing, I wasn’t even born when Christ died, so obviously he died for me before I could have done anything to earn his gift.)
I believe that good works are necessary for salvation because, if I continue to sin gravely, and do no good works, I have not cooperated with God’s gift of grace—i.e., I have refused it.
I don’t see why the fact that grace is a gift implies that sin and good works are of NO consequence. There is ample indication in Scripture that sin and good works are vitally important, and that salvation DOES depend on doing good, not just believing.
Nothing wrong with that. My comment was based on probabilities, not a certainty. She does not appear to have signaled any kind of repentance.
How’d you like this murderers resume when you go before Saint Pete?
Hi Pete, I’d sure like to go to heaven.
Well NO, that’s not in the cards, we don’t let baby killers in but there is another place with a reservation for ya pal.
Agreed. She may have regretted her evil deeds and repented before she died. We will never know. My prayers for her soul as well, just in case.
The article title is —
“Constance E. Cook, 89, Who Wrote Abortion Law, Is Dead”
You may not know this, but on Free Republic, we are required to use the exact title of the article to enable others to search for it, so to not make a duplicate post. Please have the Admin Moderator change your title so that others will not post a duplicate of it...
Thanks...
To prevent duplication, please do not change the title. Thanks.
It´s worth noting that this wicked woman was a Republican. In her heyday, liberal Episcopalian types who wanted to promote abortion found a home in the GOP, while Democrats tended to look out for the (literally) little guy. I think many Republicans today, including the last GOP presidential nominee, would find that arrangement more comfortable.
The scripture does not give you the option you want to place upon it.
John chapter 6 the disciples ask Jesus, "What shall we do to work the works of God?.
Does Jesus tell them to do this or to that? No.
Jesus says, "Believe on Him whom God has sent."
If we were to do something "TO EARN SALVATION OT TO WORK THE WORKS OF GOD TO EARN HIS FAVOR", that would have been the time to say so.

Speak the truth in love. Eph 4:15
Useless drivel, relevant to nothing - cheap excuse to attack Republicans, the Episcopal Church (its problems though many are for them to deal with) and others with whom you disagree politically. Uncharitable conduct and unbecoming a FReeper.
You’re right - it’s not anybody’s place to judge anybody about anything.
I’m sure God is welcoming her right now with open arms, a pat on the back and a hearty ‘job well done’.
What were us judgemental busybodys thinking, anyway?
I hope that God granted her the grace of repentance prior to her death. Sadly, nothing in this article indicated that was the case.
