Obama Tells Congressional GOP To Turn Off Rush Limbaugh Show: Will Media Notice?
NewsBusters.org ^ | January 24, 2009 - 06:55 ET | Tim Graham

Posted on 01/24/2009 5:35:21 AM PST by TexasCajun

The Drudge Report blared the New York Post report by Charles Hurt that President Obama told the Republicans in Congress that they should go along and get along, and stop listening to Rush Limbaugh: "You can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done."

Obama is clearly worried that Rush Limbaugh is going to be the GOP Speaker of the House, so to speak. Over at Radio Equalizer, talk-radio guru Brian Maloney is amused:

Beyond the absurdity of a Democrat barking orders at his political opposition, he's especially foolish to air his fear of Limbaugh and talk radio in a public setting. Now, what was long suspected by conservatives has been verified by the man himself.

The timing was no coincidence: after a rocky first week in office, the Obamists are also faced with a resurgent Fox News Channel, where ratings have been climbing since the moment he took office.

In particular, Hannity's Limbaugh interview, which took place in the latter's Florida studios, scored fantastic audience figures for the former's network. In overall viewers, Thursday's Hannity nearly trebled his MSNBC competition and almost doubled CNN's Larry King.

Shows how out of touch BaCrack is since the GOP does the exact opposite of what Rush says they should do.

OK. I've been hearing about the liberals are going to renew the fairness doctrine to shut Rush down. However, isn't that a double-edged sword?

The liberals dominate their point of view on ABC, CBS, NBC and PBS. Won't that mean we get to see less liberal programming on the TV news programs? Or Rush will have his own TV show?

Or for some obscure reason... the fairness doctrine ONLY applies to the radio?

Yes, in the same way that BO's adoring public cannot put to words one of his ideas, policies, etc., neither could Barry elaborate on one single thing that Rush says or believes.

Our Affirmative Action President only understands what he knows-he is a caricature, and so to him, so is everyone else.

The ‘last man standing’ has the crosshairs on his forehead. If Barry is THAT concerned, it means he may not be able to win in the arena of ideas. Rush does not speak for the GOP - in fact sometimes I think they, also, want to hush Rush. Since the GOP does not follow Rush, why is Barry scared? McCain told us not to be scared of Barry, so maybe McCain needs to tell Barry not to be scared of Rush.

I saw Rush for the first time in a long time on Hannity’s show and he did not look well. He was very overweight and I fear for him. My husband is diabetic and got to looking like Rush does now and he ended up having a double bypass a little over a year ago. I hope Rush is taking care of himself. We love you Rush and we NEED you.

I have had time to really listen to Rush a lot over the past three years, but somehow I'll make sure Rush gets my support more than ever now.

Oh and when the Liberals were questioned on their attacks on President Bush this is what they were say:

“We have the right to dissent; this shows our Patriotism”
Yeah, think about that one.

Stand Strong Conservatives a Major Battle is ahead....and we can win!

The "Fairness" Doctrine applies only to conservative talk radio. Should it be reinstated, other media outlets would simply be as liberal as ever.

That’s it in a nutshell!! Even IF he could think fast, he could not beat the logic and common sense that Rush usually speaks.

What I think the GOP should do is say ‘ fine, we will bring back the fairness doctrine but we want conservative viewpoints in publicly funded schools - especially colleges. Anything that gets taxpayer funding- we want equal time- free markets dont need it anymore as we no longer just have ABC, NBC and CBS.

I do, however, question the bona fides of a guy earning that kind of money for stirring up trouble. In any event, he’s hardly a sterling example of traditional American family values, is he!

Y'know what? As much of a threat to freedom as this guy is, it occurs to me all of a sudden that we might have some real fun with him.

He's one of those guys who just can't stand it when people disagree with him or when he faces opposition, and... he really thought he wouldn't face opposition or criticism once he was anointed as President.

That's why he's so obsessed with Rush and with Hannity. They're in his melon, and maybe we can be too.

Maybe, just maybe, he could be messed with to the point that he wouldn't know whether to $#!+ or go blind.

Wouldn't that be a blast, to see him just lose it like Woody Hayes did on the sidelines back in 1978?

[The “Fairness” Doctrine applies only to conservative talk radio. Should it be reinstated, other media outlets would simply be as liberal as ever.]

It is amazing how the American communists always use slogans and words that deceive and are completely opposite of their anti God and His Christ hearts.
Like the ACLU, which if you judge their works and ignore thier deceptive words would actually be “ Anti Christian Legions of the Underworld”.

Is that a recent picture? I don’t think it will be six months before he really starts to become unglued. He is obviously just the front man.

He is going to start looking really bad in photos very soon.

How stupid is this administration to sign an order to close Gitmo but HAVE NO WHERE TO PUT THE PRISONERS. Any State that approves them is going to have their citizens up in arms and knows they will face being booted out in reelection.

But I agree with one poster I read here. Put them in the worst facility in the country.

Maybe not .... if it's just Rush and Hannity, look for Florida prosecutors to try to get Rush charged again on drug charges.

If they go Fairness Doctrine, it means they're trying to shut down the entire Right -- Laura Ingraham, Medved, Bennett, Prager, Levin, Dennis Miller, everybody.

The timing was no coincidence: after a rocky first week in office, the Obamists are also faced with a resurgent Fox News Channel, where ratings have been climbing since the moment he took office.

Isn't Fox in the tank for Obammy? Or did they climb back out? I haven't watched them in a while because they were joining the worshipful just before the election and seemed to remain there at least in the days just after the election.

When a liberal politician criticizes a private citizen for his views, there is an automatic backlash.

Even Clinton controlled his anger enough to publicly vent on Rush on only one occasion.

Maybe this is Obama’s opening salvo to bring back the Censorship Doctrine.
