PRISTINA, Kosovo -- Kosovo armed forces took over security duties on Wednesday, less than a year after the territory declared independence from Serbia, officials said.
The Kosovo Protection Force replaces a 3,000-strong civilian emergency organization formed out of the disbanded ethnic Albanian Kosovo Liberation Army that fought Serbia in the 1998-99 war.
New commander Lt. Gen. Sylejman Selimi, a former rebel fighter, said the 2,500 lightly armed troops would fulfill security duties in the fledgling nation, but would remain under the supervision of NATO's 15,000 peacekeepers in charge of overall security.
It will be trained by British NATO officers, wear uniforms provided by United States and drive vehicles secured by the German government. Initially it will not have tanks, heavy artillery or airplanes.

We now know there was no “ethnic cleansing” going on and the KLA killed far more Serbs than vice versa. I was one of the kool aid drinkers on this one when it happened, but it just boggles the mind that we don’t have enough integrity to admit our mistake, apologize and get out.
"We" in this case being the small set of folks still under the thrall of Milosevic-era Serbian disinformation.

No Moron, “We” means every international agency that when into investigate the so-called “genocide”. If you are so smart, then do a google search and shoot me a reply with all that evidence of ethnic cleansing that NATO or the Red Cross found in Kosovo after they went in. But don’t hold your breath while looking for it, because all you’re likely to find is about a million articles documenting the complete lack of any evidence of mass murder. If you know any Americans that actually went in after Serbia pulled out, ask them, they will tell you the same thing.

I note that your witty Jim Carey quote contained not one shred of evidence from ANY source to back up your implied assertion that ethnic cleansing was occurring in Kosovo.
Here's a link to an article on Townhall.com that says the same thing. You know Townhall, that notoriously leftwing website with columnist such as: Ann Coulter, Walter Williams, Brent Bozell, Thomas Sowell, Fred Thompson etc., etc.
You've been taken in by the Serbian version of holocaust denial. You can also probably still find endless web hits deriding the notion that Milosevic's henchmen were ferrying their victim's corpses through Serbia - and so long as you remain ignorant of what was uncovered at Batajnica and Petrovo Selo, you'd feel secure in your ignorance, as you do now with the mass graves uncovered in Kosovo itself or the overall ethnic cleansing campaign who's existence they are a result of.
Once upon a time I devoted time to attempting to engage individuals such as yourself in discussions about this exact same topic. I found that those espousing your viewpoint were either stultifyingly stupid or actively lying and misrepresenting the facts in order to maintain their postion - ultimately, discussing the issue with them was a tremendous waste of time, and so I have no reason to believe time spent with you will be any different.
Bottom line, your ignorance and gullibility are your problem, not mine, and if you don't take the time and effort to overcome them, you've got nobody to blame but yourself when others treat you with the derision and contempt you deserve.
Bottom line, if you think all the investigators who have been there are lying, where's your evidence.
You seem to have some deep seeded hatred of all things Serb, I don't know any Serbs and don't have a dog in that fight; however, clearly you do and that might explain why you are willing to discount firsthand accounts from the left and the right, and even from foreign sources, while clinging to your own beliefs without reservation even in the absence of any evidence whatsoever. Yes, you mention “mass graves” but you and I both know there is a reason you do not provide any source document. There isn't any.
Your insults aside, I don't think you are ignorant and gullible. I suspect you know the truth, it just doesn't fit with your agenda so you simply invent your own truth.

Cohen Fears 100,000 Kosovo Men Killed by Serbs

Up to 100,000 ethnic Albanian men in Kosovo of fighting age have vanished and may have been killed by Serbian forces, Defense Secretary William Cohen said on Sunday.
"We've now seen about 100,000 military-aged men missing. . . . They may have been murdered," Cohen said on the CBS news program "Face the Nation."
